      @@fgfg633 Its just the etymology of the word transgender. It was coined in the late 60s but wasn't put into mainstream use until the mid-late 90s. So when trying to describe yourself to a general comedy audience in the 80s you use transvestite and cross-dresser which are terms that they are familiar with. It almost felt like him defining it was excuse, rather than just being who he wanted with no rules. Same but opposite on my end. I'm a male, very strong genes, I'm plenty athletic and built well, but raised by my mother and we were just close and open. We talk a lot. I express myself freely. I don't repress. I refuse. That just leads to violence. I believe men need to be freed in society to be more expressive. The loving, silly, goofy, cuddly parts of men need to be seen. And as a result I am becoming a well rounded MALE. so same but opposite and I've come to this conclusion that there IS a balance in all of us. And the only reason we have sexes is just to propagate the species. But emotions and thought etc should be more fluid. Men can and should feel. Men can and should cry. And men that do also shows that we have positive intentions with others. To protect that which we love. My experience with psilocybin healed all the toxic childhood masculinity crap thrown at me about not crying, I get why they were doing it, to protect me, but we all have to be focused on the ways to express oursleves not to repress the emotions completely. A time and a place if you will, and being more private with someone but still being free and honest with yourself and our loved ones. Repression leads to lies and deceit sometimes as well and makes relationships fracture and fail. Never keep a man from expressing his thoughts and he will (if he's mature and in his right mind) see that and be so respected by it, he will rise to serve his loved ones even more. If you make men actual feel loved and appreciated and HEARD, that man will move mountains

    When Eddie says "if a tiger is attacking you we don't care if it's male or female and the tigers don't care either" this is true because both male and female tigers can kill us, but tigers do care. Wild animals care greatly if something is female or not if they want't to survive. For example this is very obvious in lions. A whole pack of female lions do not impose as much fear as a single male lion. There are videos of of 5 or 6 female lions being harassed by hyenas and circled until a male shows up and everyone scatters. Animals care very much.

    What Eddie Izzard admits without realizing it, is that their gender is based on how they look on the outside... and that means heels, makeup, hair, or male clothing when in "boy mode" as Eddit puts it... but what Eddie doesn't realize is that these are western perceptions of what is male and female. For example, in some tribes of Africa, women are bald... so when transgenders say they feel depressed and suicidal because they can't express themselves, what they really mean is they feel depressed not because of biological reasons, but because they want to appear a certain way in this current society that they live in. To feel happy wearing heels and long hair and lipstick doesn't mean they are now expressing their biology, they are feeling happy because psychologically they are fitting into a brainwashing. This tells me that transgenderism isn't genetic, but learned behavior from early childhood... because had this person been in a tribe in Africa for example, they would feel better if they were bald... all learned behavior.

    • @Mr-E.
      @Mr-E. 5 лет назад +3

      @sour airhead I think you are extremely confused about what I wrote... You may want to read it again more carefully. I won't respond to you any more negatively than that... But yes you are correct that they don't walk around pretending to be men or masculine... that supports my point.
      All I can say is read carefully next time, and you might find that the points are thought out better than you assume. If you still don't understand, then I will be happy to clarify or explain better.

    • @36shadowboy
      @36shadowboy 5 лет назад +3

      It is definitely a psychological response to societal norms that is for sure. Thats actually a really good way of describing how gender can vary from culture to culture. One thing though, is that it is still REALLY up in the air how genetics and hormones and biological factors can effect someones psychology, so I might be a bit hesitant to hand wave it as learned behavior.

    • @Mr-E.
      @Mr-E. 5 лет назад +4

      @@36shadowboy I agree that hormones and other biological factors can play a role in emotional responses. More estrogen, perhaps more feminine traits, more testosterone, more masculine traits, more oxytocin more friendly/loving/empathetic, etc.
      While we are on the topic of this, another topic about sexuality and how psychology and societal norms can effect biology:
      For example just until the turn of the century, binding women's feet in China so they were deformed and mangled was considered highly attractive. Men would have real biological/physiological responses to the sight of those "bound" feet... yet that response isn't genetic in any way. Or in Greek times, red hair was considered like blonde hair is now, in Germany in the 1800s, more robust/chubbier women were considered the most attractive, in the 60s and 70s in America it was thin women, now it is women with bigger legs and "behinds".
      I do believe these people were sincerely attracted to those various physical features and looks... after all, their dopamine, and serotonin, and oxytocin, and testosterone, adrenaline, etc. etc. would HAVE to change, and their blood flow would have to redistribute...
      So they were having very real physiological responses to very real psychological stimuli...
      However, in all of these cases, I think it is clear it was not genetic, but learned behavior from being raised in those time periods and cultures.
      We certainly do not have a genetic predisposition to being turned on by mangled/deformed/bound feet do we?
      In these cases, it seems the idea of sexuality is dependent on environment, but people are quick to argue that it is strictly biological because they feel that if it is biological from birth, then it legitimizes their sexual preferences and defends against any criticisms.

    • @Snozkin
      @Snozkin 5 лет назад +1

      Wearing a dress and heels is a symbol of femininity in western culture - is that a social construct? Of course it is, just the same as any other symbols of masculinity and femininity anywhere else in the world. But that doesn’t make the symbolism any less real to people. If you are transgender and you want to be see as a women then you will use those symbols to your advantage to change the way your gender is perceived by others. Whether others think you are biologically a woman or not those symbols are still communicating that you want to be seen as a women and (respectful) people will act accordingly. If suddenly everyone started seeing you as the opposite gender to what you feel you are you’d want to do something about it to.

    • @Mr-E.
      @Mr-E. 5 лет назад +2

      @@Snozkin It is definitely a social construct and symbolism is very real to people as I said, there are STRONG physiological responses to psychological stimuli. People really do sincerely feel the way they do... that shouldn't be questioned... The roles of women and men do vary as well between cultures and over times, so it isn't just physical symbolism, but also what it means to be a male or female. As far as emotions go, I think people assign black and white definitions. If a male is overly emotional, that doesn't mean he is a female, he can be an emotional male... yet now, it seems there should be a quick assumption for a young child that they are a different gender just because of something like that...
      You mention "feel", and I think the environment shapes feelings. Meaning you feel offended in this culture if someone burps at the dinner table, but you might feel happy if they did so in a different culture. You talk about being respectful and I agree with that as do most people. I just think there is more supporting evidence that how someone perceives the world is influenced by their environment and learned behaviors... and the depressions, anxiety, sadness, angst inside is very real, but not biological.
      The biological aspect does matter, because there is this line being crossed where how someone "feels" is being overly respected in a topic like sports for example. By respecting the "feelings" of one person, you undermine and destroy the integrity of the sport... some men feel they are women and so they decide to break every record in sprinting, powerlifting, and win at MMA fights... at that point, biology versus learned behavior becomes very important in the debate.

    I've been watching Eddie Izzard for years in movies and stand up. I've seen him dressed as a man and a woman BUT I never thought he was transgender. He identified himself as a drag queen. He loved wearing woman's clothes and also men's clothes and he didn't want to be a woman or change his name. I think people are considering everything transgender now.

    • @ElenaFanelli
      @ElenaFanelli 4 года назад

      He has NEVER called himself a drag queen. He said that he was a transvestite. Transvestite is a word that we don't use anymore but in a way was similar in meaning to transexual now. A drag queen is a performer that dress up on stage. Being a transvestite/transexual is a everyday life situation.

    Eddie never used to identify as trans. He used to identify as a man who just liked to wear women's clothes and makeup. Feels like he has just jumped on the bandwagon.
