  • A 30-inch water main burst in the middle of the night in South Philadelphia, sending thousands of gallons of water gushing through several streets.
Homeowners and business owners say they are dealing with several feet of water in their basements as the water department works to get the scene under control.
The disaster stems from a giant hole in the ground on 6th and Bainbridge.
Crews on the scene are monitoring the situation, and trying to make sure more water doesn't flow into homes and businesses.

Idiot Mayor Kenney a few weeks ago was more worried about someone misplacing the bones of one of the Radical Group Move members who died like 40 years ago. He's a absolute disgrace as a Mayor and the fact he got reelected tells you all you need to know about Philadelphians.

Call me crazy, but, if the Water Dept. knew that this is water main was over 100 years old, then why? was there even water flowing through it? It seems to me that their infrastructure needs to be reviewed, Desperately!!!! Too many innocent victims of this terrible circumstance. Shame, shame. I could say more, but, I think it's obvious to everyone who's to blame for this one.

Welcome to the results of a society that lets politicians raise energy bills, whether it is gas, water, electricity, what have you, through user taxes saying it is for the infrastructure yet never fixing the infrastructure and electing those same people again and repeating the process. Works that way for the entirety of the infrastructure and you are watching the biggest bill in history in congress, of which a bunch of it is promised for these problems.
Of course, what happened to all the utility raises and gas taxes in the past that were for this problem? How much of the current budget do you think will actually go to the problem? If history gives us any clue, most will be wasted then they will raise more user fees and the people will re elect those that do this because they want infrastructure.
If private business did this people would yell the are crooked, but if their politicians do it we need to give them more power. American logic at its finest

Trust me it's usually not the cast iron that fails but the lead joints that do fail but yes there are some really soft iron in the city....been working on water main for 20+ years and some places have really bad cast iron while others are pretty good ..... depends on the ground it's buried in and if there's trollies or septa nearby
