  • In this video tutorial I show you how to make a cute and simple drawstring bag using some fabric and ribbon. These little bags have thousands of uses! I use it as a bread bag when I am giving someone a fresh loaf of homemade bread. It can be used to keep your underwear in when you travel..... use it to store kids toys for car rides, make a smaller version of the bag for potpourri or sachets...etc.
Any beginner can make this drawstring bag and once you make a few you will see that you are going to come up with dozens of uses for them in your own house.

We have a small group that meets Monday evenings at our church. We do ministries and this time we are making drawstring bags out of microfiber wash cloths with shoestrings for the drawstrings. We are filling them with such things as toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, wash cloth, fingernail clippers, etc. and we give them out to the homeless. I watched your video and loved the look of it. I am on my way to the fabric store to purchase items to make yours. Thank you for posting it.

Picked up Material yesterday and just finished my first one today. Love how it turned out. I am using these for lunch sacks for my boys. Much cheaper than the horrible soft lunch sacks you can buy and simple to make! For 6 dollars I was able to make four of these for my boys' lunch sacks for next year. I coupled this with your Snack sacks and the guys are excited to use these come this fall. Thanks for a great video and clear how to!

Sweet!! I just saw a project using little purchased muslin bags that you stamp a Christmas motif on, to hold cedar shavings, and didn't want to buy them when I could possibly make them. Your tute was the first one I looked at and its perfect! I never could figure out how to do the drawstring right, but your vid explains it perfectly! And such lovely fabric you used! Very pretty. Thank you so much for posting this. I'de also like to compliment you on your teaching. Best vid I've seen yet

Thanks so much for this video tutorial! I made one today - I uploaded a photo of it to the Flicker Group. I made mine big enough for an American Girl Doll to fit in-using the school uniform fabrics of the little girl the doll belongs to. I appliqued a chenille panda to a pocket - added that to the front of the bag. The school mascot is the panda. Can't wait to give it to her mom tomorrow so she'll have it in time for school to start next week. I also made her doll a school uniform and backpack.
