Seems like a huge inefficiency to use anything but 8 axle flow boys on a job this big and open.
Some states don’t allow flow boys to be that large and carry that much weight so they may not even have that option.
Do you guys usually just contract your dump trucks?
Yessir! We have two on our paving side and two on our concrete side that normally run with us and then any after that are contract trucks.
How come you’re not making wider passes?
Faster paving! Plus we have light poles scattered throughout that we have to adjust for when we get closer to them.
