I really miss the DVD Netflix time period, now netflicks is just special tv
American Prestige is criminally underviewed.
In the same way science and cameras and stuff kinda killed religion, I think social media and knowing so much about celebrities and how films are made and just having so many of them, has killed capital-H Hollywood. Also, as ever, something something capitalism.
Good. Hollywood needs to learn to adapt to what people actually want and need and stop shoveling out slop left and right, and especially they need to drop the number of streaming services by at least half because most of them are just money pits at this point💯💯💯
@@Elemenace Slop sells. Sadly.
@@ElemenaceHollywood is not a person 🙄
@TheNewMexican78 Hollywood is operated by people, and those people need a wake-up call because what they're doing and selling isn't working anymore
I think julia louis dryfus spoke about this actually and was on the money.
The truth is Corporate consolidation, leads to more of the industry being "for profit" rather than for art. Studios want to make 4 movies a year, and each to make a Billion. They have to cater to every demographic for that to happen. it has to be overproduced.
This ultimately leads to the death of the superhero genre imo. Where at some point every superhero movie was indistinguishable from the last. Their goal was to spend 200M on 1 movie, and make it make 1Billion. up to a point that it killed the entire genre.
We are seeing studios do this more and more. AI im sure can make those movies, but the heart of cinema, art, will always be human. and i dont think AI could ever really capture that
streaming would be great if the state had one streaming service with everything on and funded films and tv directly. this isn't even that far out, france funds like 80% of its film industry. and they famously produce low-quality unoriginal cinema...
👍❤🎉!
So long as governments around the world offer tax incentives to make movies they will be made no matter what jurisdiction.
AI fixes this
Oliver stone just released a movie about Lula and it's being shown at cannes
Gotta deal with the way in which the industry existing at all, and the culture of replication and distribution crowding out local culture etc, is an essential attribute, not an abberation.
In hollywood DEI means more customers
Once AI Video advances, Hollywood will undergo a reboot. Studios will save millions, movies will take half the time or less
8:20 as the rate of profit falls the mass rises
14:54 when all money is drained out of the population then opps contradiction
its awkward to have Matt on and not have him speak.....
What are you talking about lol Matt is the co-host of the show? Why would you want the interviewer to speak more than the guest
Hollywood now only has carefully curated cringe content
