  • I show you guys in another segment of Andy's Automotive, how I replaced this radiator in a 2009 Nissan Maxima V6 ,WITHOUT REMOVING OR DISCHARGING ANY AIR CONDITIONING COMPONENTS. Even in Alldata it says you need to discharge and remove AC components, I just like many other jobs, including the alternator on this same car, DID NOT have to do the extra.
    I removed the front bumper, and the front steel bar, loosened the radiator support tie bar bolts - the hoses and trans lines, plug the lines so you don't lose CVT fluid.
    Have someone help you unclip the condenser from the radiator and then slowly and VERY CAREFULLY swing the condenser forward (away from the car) DO NOT OVER BEND THE AC LINES_ and then remove the radiator, and watch the lower left of the radiator where the drain plug is- it is a tight removal but safely done. Reinstall reverse of removal.

    You went from maxima to Altima less then 5 minutes

    My Altima L32 V6 .. has leaking from the radiator. . So, can I remove it without taking the front bumper out? ..
    How exactly could it be removed?

    I think I ended up discharging the AC system while doing this..now of course the car doesn't blow cold air.. now I can't get pull a vacuum on the system..while I was trying to remove the radiator, I ended up unscrewing what I thought was the radiator until I realized it was the condenser for the AC

      kdwdmdn dada I just did it on a 4 cylinder, I made a quick video on it. It is possible on the 4 cylinder.

    Why do you say 2008? That's the 6th generation. The one you're working on is a 7th generation, in which is 2009-2015. Or would it be the same process for the previous gen? I'm planning on doing a radiator change to my 2007 maxima.

      David Rodriguez some of the 2008 models got built the same, ALLDATA shows the same process for them when I looked it up

      Not 100% on the 2007. I can't imagine it being too different.
      But just look down and visualize the cooling fans not being there if you would have space to pull it out, also, is the ac condenser attached to the radiator and if so ,is it to the point of removing the bumper etc to gain clearance to unbolt it.

    can you remove the 3.5 engine out the top

    • @ArmoredBullTrading
      @ArmoredBullTrading  7 лет назад

      Eugene Rodgers that. I do not know without the car, I know the engine is bigger so it may tuck thw transmission under the driver side fender well ,sometimes there is enough room, and sometimes there is not.
      I have a friend with the 3.5l I'm doing some axles on in a few weeks , I'll be able to check then.
      if the transmission tucks under the fender well on the driver side more than 1 or 2" then probably not.
      if it must be pulled from the top. you can always pull the engine first and then the trans.
      more work, but still way cheaper than a shop or dealer

  • @jermellejordan

    Have you replaced the alternator on a 2010 Maxima or similar witha 3.5 engine? Do you have a video i should say?

    • @ArmoredBullTrading
      @ArmoredBullTrading  7 лет назад

      Jermelle Jordan yes , remove the cooling fans and pull them out, and you should have enough clearance to pull it out the top with a little maneuvering.
      I don't believe I had to remove coolant.i worked around that.
      it's been a few years.
      but not as hard or as much as they claim at the dealer.
      DISCONNECT THE BATTERY,loosen the serpentine belt and unbolt the alternator, I had plenty of clearance with the fans out. you may have to have someone hold the radiator from leaning, I believe I removed the radiator top mounts just so it would move a little more, but overall, easy job

    • @jermellejordan
      @jermellejordan 7 лет назад +1

      Thanks for that insight. I will try that method. I had already done extra work cause i took the AC compressor off but wasn't able to move it out the way to get the alternator out through the wheel well. This sounds like a lot easier method.

    • @ArmoredBullTrading
      @ArmoredBullTrading  7 лет назад

      Jermelle Jordan oh no, yeah that's a much more difficult route. Sorry you had to go through that. But yes the method I mentioned is much much easier

      It got done LOL. Im a bit extra, so i do other things in the process. But yeah to each their own. I always condone others if they find better short cuts! As long as the job is done correctly and with quality. Cheers!

    In case anyone in the future does this it's not necessary to remove the from bumper i was able to remove the radiator rather easy by carefully moving the condenser out of the way a bit. Just be gentle on it. after that you just work the radiator out slowly. I have done several radiator replacements and this is actually pretty easy. Worst part of the job was the spring clamps that where designed barely big enough to fit.

    • @ArmoredBullTrading

      Sounds good, i took it off for ease of access

      @@ArmoredBullTrading Yes I heard in the alldata manual it says to remove it, disconnect the a/c but this was rather easy for a first time job on a Nissan. There is actually a lot of room behind the bumper. I was repairing a broken hood cable at the same time so I already had the latch removed which probably made the bob simpler also. After working on a few PT Cruisers everything else is easy. :)

    • @ArmoredBullTrading
      @ArmoredBullTrading  5 лет назад

      @@JohnCiaccio hahahaha, absolutely. Anything becomes simple after that piece of work. Head job on those is annoying. Easier to remove the engine, change it. Time it and reinstall the engine. Than it is to change it in engine bay. In my opinion
      And labor time is half for an engine change lol

    • @JohnCiaccio
      @JohnCiaccio 5 лет назад +1

      @@ArmoredBullTrading had to change the timing belt. In the car it's possible but not advisable. There a 20 pound steel plate for a motor mount that is just ridiculous. After working on these car several times I would advise people to skip them completely.

    Not 100 percent on that one.
    If they are attached anything like the 09 10 then this video will suit.
    Once you get started you will know.
    Just look at the radiator and try to picture it without the other stuff like the fans and all.
    I'll get back to you with a good answer if someone doesn't beat me to it

      Sorry about that. I dont have a camera man nor the time to edit a video into a short version. Real time recording would be way too long. But, I will try my best to have someone record me next time.
