I'm a long time SciManDan viewer and when you first mentioned your running channel I had zero interest in running & couldn't understand why anyone would want to do it! Then one day I decided to couch to 5k in a bid to get fit and support my weight loss journey. To my complete and utter shock and confusion, I founf that I loved it! 18mths later and I've lost 3 stone, run a half marathon, and am currently training for a 50k ultra in May. Injuries/illnesses are so hard - I got covid really badly during my training for an aborted marathon, had to go back to couch to 5k to rebuild my fitness. Then I overtrained for the half marathon and got achilles tendonitis. It's very humbling and it can be so disheartening, but I'm trying to learn snd grow from the experience. Setbacks make you stronger and wiser, and the comeback is even sweeter because I now fully appreciate my ability to run at all. Looking forward to seeing more videos from you and maybe I'll see you out on the trails or on the startlinr for a race! 💚✊🏻
Great to see you're back. You were one of the factors that motivated me to start doing long distance running, and I was glad to see you picking up the miles on Strava. Cheers Dan
So sorry to hear of your injury but great to see you back. I was once (15 years ago) running as you did, but injury, kids, age stopped me completely. I miss the UK countryside but this video has encouraged me to get out again, run regularly and maybe even vlog my progress. Thanks for the motivation.
🎉I got a back injury 2 years ago a week b4 the beachy head marathon. Finally been training and have my first marathon in March. Might see you at the beachy head in October
I spent a year with a chiropractor, weekly visits. It was good but I stopped and went to a physio therapist for muscle work. That changed everything. He was mad that the chiro took my money and never suggested my muscles were too tight and that was causing my pains. I’m 100% now and only go once every two months for maintenance and check in. Every time I go there is only 1 adjustment my spine requires. Good for you Dan.
I was in and out all 2023 with a meniscus tear, it really sucks being injured, especially with being told to stop doing something you enjoy. Getting back into it this year, hopefully will do a few 10ks in the spring/summer. all the best dan. what doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Thank goodness you're alright! I was worried the 'Saturday show' on another channel might have derailed your running. It's a relief to hear you're okay, and I'm excited to witness your journey towards your new goals. I've experienced shin splints once, and I know how frustrating it can be not running for months. Take it easy, and remember to enjoy every step of your running journey. Best of luck!
Mate good to see you back. I was thinking about your running journey and this channel the other day. Sorry to hear about your injury, fingers crossed you’re on the road to recovery. I’m looking at doing Beachy Head marathon on October, have done it on several occasions
The nature of the beast. Injuries and running go together,I've had my share. I'm in my late 50's, if one day I wake up and nothing hurts I know I'm dead.
Good to see you still running, Dan. Looking forward to seeing more runs. I hope your UK chiropractors are better trained than ours. I wouldn't let ours touch my back, much less my neck; and ours seem to push a lot of woo as well.
Good to see you back Dan, you're a huge inspiration. I had an operation in 2022 and it took me out of the gym for a month, and even just after a month of no cardio it sucks when you're getting back into it. I can't imagine what it felt like after six months.
Good your back Dan I’m running UTS 50 this year shame your not there mate 😔 Stephen is a legend met him and his wife Victoria Guernsey ultra in 2022 both lovely people good luck on your recovery mate 💪 check out tri counties running events Mike has some good trail races down here in the south 😊
Great to see you back on the the roads Dan, but you could have encouraged us onto the road with something less daunting than 21 kilometres. There's nothing demeaning about recommending parkrun to your more deskbound following. Love your vlogs by the way, but I think, being a septuagenarian, I've left it a little late to do anything more adventurous than a marathon. ,
Hope you continue to improve and can continue doing what you love. Very few things hurt so much as not being able to find joy in life, and this plainly does for you. All the best to you and yours!
Aw man. I see a pattern (or maybe a conspiracy 😱), I wanted to run Kat 50 and try to qualify for CCC. Got pain in my ankle. Still not recovered, still not running. I am happy to see, you can run again!
The longest race I entered was a 10k Trail Run "Village Creek 10k". It's held every January so it's 85% mud and 15% water. My feet never had a chance to dry. It was brutal. I don't think I could do more than that. I'll be sticking with 5k's for a while lol
@@runmandan7067 good good. I done it a couple of years back and it was a great well run event. I've decided to go back and do the Arc again next year. I want that sub 30
Hey Dan, if you plan to run the KAT100 next year, hit me up. I myself am planning to run it, as it‘s actually only 20km away from me and i actually never ran my home ultra 😂
@@runmandan706750k will be fine as i plan to run the lavaredo in 2025 before that anyways and i‘m not sure my old carcass can take two 80s a year 😂. This year i will run the Eiger 50k which i am really excited for.
You should combine some of your loves (running and debunking flat-Earth claims) and enter the Antarctic Ice Marathon. 😁 If nothing else it would make for a very entertaining video.
Yeah, do some new type of content. Arguing with the delusional seems counter-productive... maybe talk about science in more of a informative & healthy (nondefensive) way. Like an informative study-cited multi faceted science breakdown. Or study kinesiology, & learn to teach spine mobility, strength & performance
I thought that maybe while you were running you noticed a 15 degree per mile drift…. Love inov8, keep it up.
Thanks j!

That’s really good buddy. What 50k are you training for?
@@runmandan7067 it's a local one in Shropshire, the Bishop's Castle 50k. Excited but also pretty nervous!

Just get out there. Parkrun, it's a walk in the park.

Don't be tempted to do too much too soon!
I had achillies tendinitis for 2 years, due to getting back to running too soon after injury.
Take your time & heal properly. Good Job 👍🏽 on your first recovery run.

Dan, the next installment of the 28 days/weeks later movie wants runners as extras. You should get in on that.
So sorry to hear about that, bro! 2-year setback...wow...damn!
Good luck!

Are you on strava? Injuries suck no matter how you slice it. It’s so hard to take a break. Glad you’re back in action.

Welcome back m8
Did you do the race at the end of February? Good luck with your recovery
When you run «base runs» what does that mean? I see it on strava some times. Good to see you’re doing better. Well done on the 21k
💪🏻
Thank you. Base run is an aerobic building run usually trying to stay in zone 2 for the HR. Around 2/3 out of 10 for effort.
@@runmandan7067 Aha! Thanks. I need to do more of that, but I find it a bit difficult to force my self to run slower. I’m getting better at it though.
