Beachy Head marathon is pretty much my favourite marathon! Some tough hills but the views are worth it - plus the sausage rolls at one of the aid stations!
I’m going to use this series for inspiration, I’m not at marathon level yet. But I have a program, for slow and steady progress. Hopefully next year I can do a Marathon. 😁
I thought that you run away! Good to have you back. Wish you all the best in the weeks in front of you. I have 5 weeks before the 25k trail run, but I had some knee issues, so I will see how that's going. Just a humble request - it's possible that, if you are popping up data, also use kilometres, not only miles. And no, I'll not be using your videos as a training plan because I've done that. I would be a year ago, but now I will be just following your progress and sucking knowledge out of your videos.
I've seen your SciManDan videos and this is the first time I've seen a run video from you. I have enjoyed running, but I have problems with shin splints. I switched to forefoot running, and that really helps, but I still end up building up shin pain until I ultimately have to stop. This happens somewhere between 2 and 2.5 miles. I'm not sure what, if anything, I can do about it. Either way, it's great to see you getting back to something that you enjoy, and I wish you all of the luck on the globe!
I suffered from shin splints for years! I did various hip flexer exercises, lots of calf raises and ankle mobility training and I don't get them anymore. Might be worth doing something simular! Also wearing calf sleeves were a good short term solution.
I look forward to following your training, particularly as I'm coaching one of my athletes towards Beachy Head Marathon too. I always like to see other coaches' approaches. Will you be in Snowdonia in May next year or do you have other plans for qualifying for CCC this teim?
Nice work Dan. Can't wait to follow the journey on this one!
Beachyhead is awesome marathon. Seven sisters is a killer

Be so careful of your back.

Glad that you're back! I'm in the midst of recovering from an injury. So I may well give this program a go when I'm able to run again!

I will only work in km usually mainly because my races in Europe are in km too. Thanks :)
We are all coached by the wife, Dan... some of us admit it.

Welcome 👍🏼

@mikeplace9125 the calf flexes really helped me with shin splints. Also. I've been told that gel insoles in your shoes can help.
what about another form of cardio to help keep your fitness if your structures need to recover? Like rowing or cycling?

I will be in Snowdonia next year yes, and then KAT 100 in Austria hopefully
Good luck with the training Dan! How much time do you dedicate to stretching and mobility?
Not enough lol. I do an hours strength and conditioning every week though
Should be easy since the world is flat right? lololololol The world is not flat, this is a joke >.
