Thiems career is sad. He was such a strong player. Known as the prince of clay. He was supposed to win atleast one French Open Title. Atleast he won the US Open 2020. He deserved a grand slam.
Career was cut short but will always be a US Open Champion and remembered for his heart, matches against Big 3 and that incredible one handed backhand. Most professionals would dream to have his career.
he will be remember for one of the greatest karma ever seen... during covid when he decide to not help low ranking atp player saying if there are there they are lazy... 1 year later he was low ranking and never reach the top
@@lnz971 True! I remember when Thiem talked bad about low ranked players and that he will not help them during covid times. Then he suffered hard injuries and his career ended in a very hard way.
I think that’s a testimony to just how bad his injury was. The fact that he went from grand slam winner to not being able to win a 250 makes it clear just how debilitating it was :(.
Dominic had an amazing 16 wins and 19 losses vs. the Big 3. He won 46% of the time vs. those three great players. He was 5-2 vs. Roger. He was 2-2 on hard courts vs. Roger, 2-0 on clay and surprisingly... 1-0 on grass vs. Roger. He was 5-7 vs. Novak. He was 2-4 on hard court vs. Novak... and 3-3 on clay. He was 6-10 vs. Rafa. He was 2-2 on hard courts vs. Rafa... and 4-8 on clay. I'd have to guess that Dominic's W-L record against Novak, Rafa & Roger (16-19) is probably better than any other player with at least 10 matches vs. them. And Thiem's career 10-9 record vs. Roger & Novak combined... has to be better than probably anyone not named Rafa. He won 53% of his matches vs. Roger & Novak!
Real tennis lovers will never forgot Dominic, one of the best players ever for any given fans just watch a tennis match, incredible shots, intriguing gameplay, super fair and nice 💚 Thiem was such a good clay courter, yet all of his big moments came from hard, like Indian Wells 2019 facing Federer, AO 2020 leading 2-1 but lost in the end, USO 2020 came back from 0-2, ATP Finals 19-20 run 🏆 He lost to Medvedev in 2020 which was ok to me because Meddy is a great player, but I will never forgive Tsitsipas for that 2019 ATP Finals [who never did any significant things on hard court afterward except from that one lucky AO 2023 final, which he lost comfortably 0-3] 😢
Someone should make a BestOf Thiem's 2nd Places ... he claimed 3rd in the World by reaching Finals consistantly. i loved watching that kind of Power and Control.
From prime in 2020 to nowhere after the injury. I still wonder, if it was only the wrist or also mental stuff on top. The career despite US open feels a bit unsatisfied. Really believe he would have deserved French open title, too. He played great tournaments there. In the end it is one masters, one Slam, several big finals. And an abrupt ending of his prime. 😢 Still a great player and good person on top.
2 of the biggest titles for him were the last 2 - Vienna and USO. Vienna is where he started his ATP career and is a home country tourney. Those plus IW are in the top 5 of probably his most memorable titles
Great career all things considered, his downfall is quite sad but he should be proud of his career. It was always fun watching him play, he had my favorite 1HBH on tour.
im sad, also it looks like there was a much bigger carrier possible . just look at the last title with 27 years. its like their is a great book in front of you and the mainpart is missing.
That US Open win was supposed to be the beginning of the Dominator era
😢😢😢

US Open its not a big title i hope they will cancell this slam give Croatia or japan a slam

Wow, first time i saw a GrandSlam video cut on Tennis TV 😮
Yup, but they edited out his 2016 Stuttgart win lol

Tennis TV uploading GS Content OMG
Fr 😂
I feel like they can cuz in Federer's all title compilation they included all gs footage and in some Nadal video too.
But omitted his only grass title
@@KaunRishab THANK YOU FOR THAT!!! I didn't know

Also mental stuff. Especially mental stuff. He had suffered from depression, and lost motivation.
Exactly. He has stated several time that he lost motivation after the USO title because it was his biggest dream come true
The 2020 Us Open is the title that he deserved for his career. Its crazy how fast and hard his downfall was after that grand slam title.
Arte del pensiero ai massimi livelli ❤❤
Grazie di tutto thiem ❤
Thiem such a Great Player. He was one of the best ever played this game. Please stop retiring 🙏🙏❤
Damn, imagine peak Thiem vs peak Alcaraz in a Roland Garros final… what could have been
Legend will be missed

Love Domi. I hope his is not the last great one handed backhand we see in tennis.
We'll miss you !
Judging from the quality of the early footage, Thiem began his career in the late Soviet era
Thank you Dominic !
Te vamos a extrañar muchísimo. De verdad casi lloro de ver sus triunfos. Que juego tan bonito. Y el triunfo en us open Enorme. Muy triste 😢
I miss Thiem. Thank you.
8:37 - here you can see Thiem's career escaping his body.
Miss prime Thiem !
cant believe his us open title is the last
He has won a lot of titles in France
Thiem never won a masters in clay which is kinda crazy considering how good he was on clay
and zverev won 4
@@cutie.patootie21211 to be fair Thiem had to deal with Rafa

Sinner and Alcaraz need to thanks Thiem he stopped the Big Three many times, making their records more “achievable”
Dominic lost his first 5 matches vs. Novak (0-5).
But he was 5-2 in his last 7 matches vs. Novak. (3-1 on clay, 2-1 on hard courts).
Awww what a shame 😢 amazing player
Amazing career !
danke domi
He won a lot of finals in third or fifth set tiebreaks
Crazy he only won one M1000 and it wasnt even clay. And his one slam was probably at the weakest slam of this era. Deserved more.
In hindsight it's logical - he was still hungry to achieve more and not yet injured

Sinner and alcaraz already have the same amount of titles as Thiem
They don't have the Stuttgart footage, lol
Because he played the final, against Kohlschreiber, on Court 1 on Monday. It was a rainy week and the central court was awful
@@claudiovittozzi8809 Ik. But there are other footage available. It's a shame that atp only has the footage of 1 set.
So sad Dimi had no audience for his Grand Slam win!
Bearded theim was different

It is strange that he was not able to win a masters tournament on clay
❤❤❤
I thought that Thiem would a title on grass. Did I make that up?
Stuttgart 2016
If not Rafa he could have couple RG’s😏💪🏻👍
Thiem won his biggest title in front of an empty arena and then got injured which changed him into a worse player for the rest of his career. 🫠
