Squarepusher - Vortrack [Fracture Remix] (Official Audio)

- ‘Be Up A Hello’, out 31 January 2020 on Warp | squarepusher.net
After a 5 year hiatus, Squarepusher returns with ‘Be Up A Hello’, released 31 January as First Edition Vinyl LP, CD and digital formats. Ahead of the album, a double A-side ‘Vortrack’ 12" will be released on 6 December, featuring the album track and Squarepusher’s own 'Fracture' remix - first dropped during his brain-melting breakbeat and jungle set for the WXAXRXP x NTS takeover in June. Both tracks are available to hear now.
‘Be Up A Hello’ sees Tom Jenkinson (Squarepusher) return to using a bewildering array of vintage analogue and digital hardware, the same equipment that first helped him develop his sound in the early '90s. Something of a 180 degree turn, these synths, effects units and even a Commodore Vic20 are in complete contrast to the tools he used to create 2015’s ‘Damogen Furies’ - cutting edge software that Tom developed over the course of 15 years.
The result is an album of rinsing breakbeat floor fillers, pieces loaded with visceral atmosphere and melody, and darker moments that illustrate Squarepusher’s continuing fascination with finely balanced psychological overload. As such, ‘Be Up A Hello’ gives a nod to the mayhem, joyousness and abandon of the DIY Essex rave scene that was a strong determinant in Tom Jenkinson's work.
‘Vortrack’ released 6 December on limited double-A side 12”

@Sayag nice desperation
@Sayag Downvoted for shameless self promotion.
This has quenched my thirst for filth.. please upload his set somewhere online. It's not available on NTS! www.nts.live/shows/wxaxrxp/episodes/squarepusher-live-from-nts-london-22nd-june-2019
@Sayag Nice tracks - thank you for sharing. Might want to contact Hymen Records or Schematic, methinks your tracks would fit nicely on there.
Because this is f.king daddy
720p on purpose... I see whats your doing, you want me to enjoy my compression, my artifacts, and yes I do, anything from the gift giver is a good thing.
and yes I did think of wipeout, my childhood gaming days, gaming on ps1, custom built pc in my backyard tree house fort thing...
also all those years of squarepusher music, telling everyone I know, this guys big in my world, maybe some day everyone will get a chance to enjoy his music! Thx Tom!!
Just as squarepusher is out of his hiatus we too need to wake up and smell the ashes.
It's not dark it's light x I honestly believe both squarepusher and aphex are healing forces xx
Whoa this is exactly what I needed to hear.
oh my fucking god this was my fav track from warp30 set, so glad to see it released
One of the best tracks I heard in recent years. It's one of this rare occasions where a remix transcends the original, and offers a new interpretation. A true tour de force.
The mastering is pretty good too
this is wot happens when you feed acid to your sega saturn
i feel like i'm 20 again. thanks
It's like a Selection Sixteen track!! Fuck yeah acid crunch groove!
Still maxing out all the different styles of drum and bass. Keep it complicated.

BIG BEATS ARE THE BEST
GET HIGH ALL THE TIME
Delay/reverb sounds fantastic.
This and the non-remix are both classic Squarepusher. Im excited. I wont lie, his more recent output started to lose me. But a new album with old equipment that goes back to his roots is perfect. I hope he still plays some bass on this though. And live too, as he just announced tour dates near me
Original and the album it was all all pale in comparison imo
I'm actually thinking this is the best track he's released in a long long time
Maybe best track he's done since tundra4.
For sure - definitely the best track he's released in the last 5 years.
I love the contrast of acoustics between instruments. Once again proving a convention doesn't need to be observed if handled skillfully...
yup so different this best track from him, he mustn been hella high while pulling this shit together.
IMO he is only decent at idm style jungle, i think all the other stuff is boring or noodling.
Best shit I've tripped to in a while...bordering on scary.Totally transports and delivers the goods.Trip city with a disturbing UFO sinister delight... Excellent work.Thankyou Sir.🤚🔳
Evil sounds, badass masterpiece
Squarepusher is drum 🥁 & bass genius 🏔🏔🏔

Amen Father.
That’s “Amen Brother”
@@justindawson5930 But he's the fucking daddy
What Amen?
a simple yet effective hypnotic groove, love it
Simple ? ?
this actually reminds me of Selection Sixteen, which I like a lot
Feed Me Weird Things 4 the Twenty First Century!!!! YES!!
Oh i like this a lot!
Nice one! Is this a remix Tom Jenkinson or is it by drum and bass producer Fracture?
Ch33f according to the official blurb, it’s by Squarepusher himself
Was wondering the same thing, odd choice of name for a remix when it could have been fracture the producer. That's what I thought it was before reading this comment.
@@tifius I too thought this lol
really weird naming choice tbh
This is sick.
Hope it gets well soon. Thoughts and prayers.

For the cat.
We're all sickerd
I heard this first in that mad film Bull. Glad I was able to find out what it was called. Its a gnarly piece,I dont know if its quite jungle or d&b, tempos sounds well slow but it might be the gate on the drums, the sounds are totally jungle/d&b/techstep style. Its great tbh.
Same, that movie was crazy reminded me of Dead Man's Shoes.. I agree with you, it's difficult to say what genre it is but it's similar to jungle imo
Such a lovely soup of resonance and gated reverb - future-proof! Old school beats still relevant.
This is the most refined use of Amen break I’ve ever heard. Really brilliantly done.
@@pigknickers2975 What Amen?
Thank you Mr. Notch
Melting with this 🎵🔥🎶 Tom is brilliance 💓😘
It's like he put a microphone into my brain and heart while I was asleep. I love this track.
i love your sound, true inspiration in the art i peruse. thanks for the noise
Man, I just keep hitting repeat. Great track.
ya know, the *old future*
I have some Mr. Squarepusher records on my shelf. I like these rhythms. You can lose yourself a bit.
Darker than my internet history
He performed this at Brighton's Concorde 2 (27.10.2021). I couldn't place the track because I kind of thought this was a bit poor compared to the original. No more. This was oppressively dark and liberatingly beautiful that night. I felt like I was shattered into a billion colours and possessed by a menacing future of impenetrable darkness. I felt like the machines had taken over and I was pleased to discover I was one of them. That night surpassed my wildest dreams, musically.
I see this yes
Stunning track
This is far more captivating than the original one
'Amen'.
more accessible.
Actually I like the 'original' a lot better but I am also weird. This is great but a bit too casual :-)
Has more movement and variety for sure.
fuck... that's something else
a remix of a squarepusher song is actually the original song, they cancel each other out
How is the remix the more listenable version? Doesn't make sense how you could go from one to the other? They are completely different songs.
the original is more of a club/rave type song where you're supposed to be pretty fucked up and listening on huge speakers. this `remix` is more accessible. i'd have given the tracks different names myself.
Sounds similar to me - same synth sounds; the remix is DnB and the original is acid
Yep, I went listening to the original one, but quickly came back here to listen to this one again.
@@TURST67 marrant de te trouver ici, t'as toujours bon goût à ce que je vois !
Really good to hear new music from SP, this helps me to get ready for work. This is a beautiful instrumental.
Aphex twin, squarepusher, digital glitch acid.
A bewildering array of vintage analogue and digital hardware.
The same equipment that first helped him develop his sound in the early 90's...
He's back
Thx for this upload, I've been listening to this on the Warp30 live footage.
might be the best thing I've heard all year
A Aphex Twin bracket in tune to the vibes of Cornwall's laylines.
Good to have sir squarepusher keeping it dark
This slaps so hard! 😍
The music I use to play mentally in my head while I'm driving...
Zyx Lamonde Now you can drive mentally with this song 😂
Dark !
This has been on heavy rotation here in the spot
Damn. That is pretty good.
Reminds of some of the music sounds in an activision video i played in the early 1980s great track
I see.
Perfect sounds for calling Chtulhu
I really like how he more or less put forward two different intakes for the same track (which, yeah, I know how remixes work, but hear me out):
The original being the hard-to-digest version, but incredibly satisfying if the soundwaves resonate with your brain at that moment in time.
And this being much more easily consumable, a more rigid pattern, yet still incredibly intricate. (oh and frikkin sweet aswell).
(btw, describing basically anything Squarepusher's made as formulaic/rigid is indeed antithetical, but just, yknow, comparatively)
This has an uptempo dark vibe that is finely accentuated by the textured beats, breakbeat snares and deep "evil" sound droning. It's a fantastic piece of what i'd call industrial electronic
@@giovanniprovost Thx for the reminder to listen to this again. Still great.
Absolute banger
Heard it on the radio at work today...sold. Just show me where to throw the shapes. 🤘
Auditory Warfare what amazing magical place can you hear music like this on the radio????
@@neyrhu It was Wednesday 20th November at approximately 2pm on BBC Radio 6 music.

THE DADDY IS BACK
This needs to be in a sci-fi soundtrack. Maybe a sequel to Pi.
Sektion9 dude yes
Or a new PKD adaptation.
Some alien cyborg abduction movie who comes to terminate lol
Squarepusher was always the go to soundtrack for trips.
Helped me embrace the confusion of the journey.
Even when shit would get super dark and overwhelming I knew the squarepusher sound was there.

Real feel, def heading out to see him in may

Love that groovy breakbeat jizzle.
Where did that come from
Love the animation. Do it heading into comic horror, cathulu style!
man, this is something! when that analog squeaking bass came in .. instant love.
Is this one of Cyberpunk's soundtracks?
Interesting mix, but I don't like how the reverb cuts out on certain instruments suddenly, it's really jarring.
But this shit is my jam otherwise.
yeh man heavy agree! I hadnt noticed it until your comment either ya bastard haha. Big mood though this tune
I love it. A bit biased though because I make music on a computer and having total control of all parameters is something that is hard for the listener to appreciate but makes the music maker feel like a god.
Sorry for the ill description since it's a bit hard to explain. "You had to be there to understand" comes to mind.
Bull (2021), anyone?
It's just the amen break resurrected from the early 90s. I still like it, tho.
Aw damn, was hoping Fracture actually did the rmx.
Great nonetheless
