I really need this song till the end of my life.. stipe is amazing... and the song I cant say anything about it...perfect perfect... I will never give up listening R.E.M.
it says everything about this song as you see the audience as the camera pans around to them !! they dont know there being filmed but they r away with the music !! great song from one of the truly greatest bands ever !!
"It's crazy what you could had, crazy what you could have had." Clearest delination of existential failure ever penned. Eff it. Most compassionate song ever written since Dylan. Stipe is Dylan reincarnate. "hot line a wanted ad it's crazy what you could have had." that is the absolute definition of consolation. In a country defined by unfairness and injustice, consolation is significant. "All the lovers have been tabbed" The perfect description of the failure of love. Over,
Buck's guitar work in this song (like many other REM songs, and a lot of other bands' work) isn't about speed, or impressive guitar skills. It's about a good grasp of music, and an ability to write something that intensifies a song to breaking point. The guitar solo here may not be "good" by rock standards, but it fits the song like a glove. Country Feedback is an emotional song, with a great cathartic effect, and Buck's solo adds to that in a way that would be hard to beat.
Country feedback and E-bow the letter are the songs that have touched me the most! Actually most of REM songs gave me a feeling that I haven't felt with any other band! A sweet sadness, every word is full of emotion and it travels me to magical places every time I hear it! There won't be any band like them in this world! REM, THE BAND WHO SAVED THE AMERICAN MUSIC!
This is an incredibly moving song, one of my favorites. Stipe has said that he did not have the full lyrics when they recorded it first, so these where his real feelings pouring out. This is a great version too, with an inspired guitar solo at the end that hits just the right mood. This is really, really good.
What a kick ass song I fkn love it something in the music and the words I just get lost in a past friend turned me on to REM I must say this is my fav song by them thanks 4 the great song maby some day I will get to see them live
What a beautiful song and performance! To this day this song still gives me chills, and Peter's solo is great as well. It's fantastic to hear that they are playing this song still on the (soon to be over)current tour.
this is a song that is undeniably beautiful and brilliant but it hits me so hard that I can only listen to this once or twice a year heart-wrenching? you have no idea...
This song and Pearl Jam's Indifference are my two favorite slow songs that have great vocal presence. Michael and Eddie are truly blessed with beautiful sounding vocal pipes.
DocTeeBee, you took the words from my mouth. I had the tape of Out of Time too, since 1991, and yes, the 2nd side was unbelievable, always in my walkman. Not that side 1 was bad, but the songs from the 2nd are mesmerizing, timeless pieces of art beggining with Shiny Happy People! Props man!
I saw them the night before in Dublin. It was feckin' awesome!!! Perfect Square has been the perfect souvenier ever since as it's so close to what I experienced myself the night before!
I think we all had that at one time or another in our lives. Funny how we like to go back to the hurt every once in a while huh? And this is the song to do it to....
true, it is an amazing song but I agree with what Michael Stipe says about I've been high. The thing with the whole of "Reveal" is that it takes several listens to really get it.
this is my favourite live song by r.e.m. this "version" of country feedback is just so amazing, SO AMAZING. Plastics, collections Self help, self pain, EST, psychics, fuck all.
It's actually a verse from "Chorus and the Ring" from the album Reveal. It's: It's the poison that in measures brings illuminating vision It's the knowing with a wink that we expect in southern women It's the wolf that knows which route to dig to save itself It's the octopus that crawled back to the sea.
I enjoy playing this song on the guitar. It's so simple yet so dazzling. This is by far one of the most underrated songs by REM (only REM fans think its not underrated). Critics should see how REM has taken something so simple and turned it into a masterpiece. Too bad this wasn't on REM Live DVD.
The cool thing on that evenng was, Michael actually announced two songs as his "favourite song" :-D I cannot remember which one was the second and it's also cutted out on the DVD, but it was funny...
"You come to me with a bone in your hand. You come to me with your hair curled tight. You come to me with positions. You come to me with excuses ducked out in a row." F***ing BRILLIANT.
you simply must. The concert I saw was unbelievable. Really funny though, 95% of the people there only knew the words to losing my religion... lol. When they played ignoreland, I was all over it (that is one of my favorite songs)
I really need this song till the end of my life..
stipe is amazing...
and the song I cant say anything about it...perfect perfect...
I will never give up listening R.E.M.
Peter Buck making that Gretsch talk. Superb.
it says everything about this song as you see the audience as the camera pans around to them !! they dont know there being filmed but they r away with the music !! great song from one of the truly greatest bands ever !!
It's my favorite too. Such a beautiful song and so sad.

simply beyond words.
God, I watch this every day it seems. Amazing.

The very best R.E.M. song... simply outstanding.

The first time I saw REM they played this. We couldn't believe it. A favourite from the Wendell Gee double pack!

I never thought that I would still love An R.E.M. song so long after I first heard it. I goes to show you how far good songwriting can go.
This song and Pearl Jam's Indifference are my two favorite slow songs that have great vocal presence. Michael and Eddie are truly blessed with beautiful sounding vocal pipes.

This song tears down my pants and taunts me...... in a friendly sort of way. My fave of R.E.M.'s
