@@dakotamorrison9062 well, a thicker and more beveled jazz 3 would be a bit different than jazz 3 therefore it would not be a jazz 3 therefore i wouldnt want to use it
jokes aside, im fine with the way they are, i just want a bit more grip without increasing the pick size and the max grip ones dont seem to offer much better grip compared to the regular ones
picks naturally develop bevels as you use them, which fit your playing style

I started on Tortex orange, then played green for over a decade, but last year started using Dunlop Flows from 1.5-4.20mm and artisan picks even up to 6mm. Over that I found to be way too much, but that 1.5-5mm range is pretty nice. I could imagine playing live being back around 1mm and the feel of the tortex would be better, but the different tones between acrylic, Ultex, carbon fiber, stone, and even bronze are pretty cool to experiment with playing and recording at home.

So when you go back to normal 1.5mm pick you have way more control and accuracy. It will take a little time getting use to the bigger picks. try the gator grip versions - the regular tortex become polished and slippery to me in like 45 minutes of playing. The matte surface of the gator grips has outlasted the tips on the .71mm, I just now (after like a year) reloaded on picks with the Gator Grip 1.5mm and 2.0mm and they're like super amazing; the writing on the gator grip only started coming of after I started chewing my picks again (habit I'm trying to keep broken). The gator grip also come in something between the jazz, prime grip, and full size standard tortex, but the shoulders were a bit skinny for me so I stuck with the regular shape but thicker since my picking form is improving.
The point being that I was just taking the points off the .71mm in the space of a day or so of playing and these I've had for like a week now and I pulled ONE of each out (1.5mm/2mm) and they actually seem to be getting BETTER as I play them; the tips are seeming to grind into a shape that's personalized to me but since there's so much material instead of the tip disappearing it's literally improving the more hours I put on them so far.

So I just recently got a sample pack of the Jazz 3's (that's right I live deep under a big rock). There are the small ones and a couple of the xl's. I'm used to playing Dunlop nylon .73's and .60's and wow I love the point on the Jazz 3's but I must say I love the nylon of my normal ones. I found with as much as I really like the small ones they limit my articulation so xl's it is. I also found the sampler pack was comprised of picks that were just a bit thicker than I like. I only wish they came in traditional nylon. So then I got the Jazz 3, .73 Primetone's and although I think they are nearly perfect for me they are the translucent material and definitely not the nylon material I prefer. There is a big difference in flex between the two materials. The classic nylon is spongier and softer feeling. If only I could get the .73 Jazz 3 XL profile in the traditional/classic nylon material I like, I'd never use anything else. What I expect you the reader to take away from this is that I live under a rock and I agree that picks should be used for guitar playing in general, I also like French fries. :)
