I've always thought to myself, why spend thousands or hundreds of dollars on one when when instead you can just buy so many lenses for each at less than $50.
So I will share with you some of the lenses which I think you should keep an eye for. Each of these vintage lenses can be used with mirrorless cameras with a camera and lens adapter. It is up to you to see which adapter you will use with your mirrorless camera.
Also, I am not here to do gear reviews, instead I just want to make you aware of the existence of these lenses and it is up to you to go out and research each one if you want to buy it.
So please enjoy my list of recommended vintage lenses. It includes a few Russian lenses, Japanese lenses, and German lenses as well. It is a good vintage lens primer or vintage lens guide.
I'm here to sell you an idea, the idea that photography is an art form which doesn't require the latest camera gear. I believe the most important aspect of photography is the person behind the camera learning to manipulate the light to take nice photos. It upsets me to see that the majority of photographic content revolves around getting people to buy the latest camera or lens, instead of actually making photographs.

Small mistake I think, Mir 1b 37mm***
The correct russian pronunciation of "МИР 1в" is "Mir odin ve". So 1в is actually 1v, because it's made at Vologda factory.
@@dkx86 Thank you very much! I am pretty glad to learn these pronounciations
@@Noealz You're welcome!
@@krystaljacques1295 oh- i forgot exactly but the overlay itself is from themeforest, i just searched for outrun overlays - I think I got the font from Dafont - search for outrun : )
I can't believe i got the konica 40mm f1.8 for 5 euros 3 years ago ... 40$ what !!! ?
$40 dollars without shipping - and the one at that price has the front crushed in :3
I have the black Vivitar 135mm f2.8 and can confirm. It's awesome.
I am glad so :)
Thanks for the video, Noelz! I think I will buy Mir, it's available at my town. My favorite retro lenses are MC HELIOS-77M-4 50mm f1.8
and Jupiter 37A 135mm f3.5. I love colors and sharpness of them.
I hope you will enjoy! I will check the ones you mentioned out!
Great video man, I've got a nice Yashica 50mm f1.4 but I'm looking into the Hoya 28mm as a 45mm(ish) equivalent on my Canon M50!
Good choice! I hope you will enjoy :)
I just got myself a Helios 44m-4 58mm f2 and looking to get more vintage lens. Thanks a lot!
Sure, hope this helped you out!

The Cosina 100mm f3.5 is a fantastic lens in all it's versions..Cream in a yoghurt cup. Its cheap looking plastic, noisy but fantastic
indeed it is!
The Takumar 35 3.5 is considered one of the best landscape lenses for 35mm cameras ,
I sold mine and regretted it :/
I dont think I have a need for any of these lenses. It's cool to hear about them though. I might buy a couple just to try. So inexpensive! Thanks for sharing your knowledge Noe 🙃
You should give it a try sometime - you might find yourself extremely surprised :3
I appreciate your (correct) German pronunciation of the Jena Tessar! :) Zeiss is also pronounced differently here in Germany but I don't mind tbh :D Great video as always!
Cool glad I got it right - Actually I tried to look online on how to prononounce Zeiss correctly but couldnt find it =p
@@Noealz I can't type IPA (international phonetic alphabet) symbols on my phone but in Germany it would be pronounced /tsais/, with the consonant cluster at the front being the hard part. But since spoken language is merely one of many tools to communicate there's really no 'wrong' pronunciation of anything (as long as people understand what you mean). Nevertheless, native speakers almost always appreciate people trying to pronounce everything 'correctly'; I reckon there must be some (psychological?) reason for it but I'm not aware of any research findings.
Languages are so fascinating - at least for me :D I apologise for the awfully long comment!
I have a konika hexanon 35 to 70 plastic fantastic that is very good
I love Konkias, they are great for infrared
@@Noealz
Infrared on digital with the filter?
@@mgman6000 filter or no filter, Konikas are great lenses to use for IR
@@Noealz I'll give it a try thanks
Not vintage, but I've been having fun with the Fujian 35mm f1.7. It's a crap CCTV lens, but a fun crap, almost a toy lens. A bit too soft on the center, forget the borders of the image and won't cover a full frame sensor. But cost me $25 with free international shiping.
I haven't tried CCTV lenses yet, but interested in buying a helicoid to do just that : )
@@Noealz They're usually already come with the adapter you need for your camera, mine even came with some macro extension rings.
I keep that video for when I will have a mirrorless. 👍
They are quite fun : )
The Pentacon 30mm f/3.5 is the later version of the Meyer Optik Görlitz Lydith 30mm f/3.5 (not to be confused by that new expensive "scam") when Meyer Optik Görlitz was taken over. Maybe that helps some people find those lenses by not mixing Pentacon and Lydith :-)
Good point~ The new remake company just took ppls money from what I heard
they're not exotic, but there are a lot of Nikkors that are fine lenses at moderate cost; on eBay you can find the Nikkor 105mm f:2.5 for around $50.
I'll keep my eyes out for that lens - I haven't shot at 105 or 100 - who knows I might like it : )
My tip would be to talk to your family and friends, go to flea markets, or search for the mount, or focal length on ebay, don't search for the complete name, you will find better deals
This is true, it is something I do also - sometimes people misspell the names too so I just type in part of the name :3
Man you right i ordered 2 weeks ago the industar from Russia. No confirmation from the seller no shipping info, nothing.
keep your hopes up - I always get my stuff from Ukraine, Belarus, etc~
@@Noealz it was just 20$ but still would like to have that tiny lens.
Domiplan. If the aperture still works. It won't much longer.
easy to service : )
I don't think anyone can hate on cheap glass! Lets you create your art without breaking your bank
I sure hope this can help someoone on a budget out : )
Pentacon 200mm f4 if you are looking for 200mm
Good recommendation :)
you know you have a problem when you own all but 2 of the lenses mentioned in this video... 😭📷
I wouldn't call that a problem, I would call that a blessing ; )
@@Noealz hahahaha... thanks for the vids noealz.
looks like i started collecting JUST in time!!! the mirrorless cameras all have nice lenses, but nothing is as nice as vintage-antique.
Should have posted my last comment on this video...lol
Lol no worries Michael - it's all good
lenses nobody likes except me:
opticam 135mm 2.8... 16 blades!?! $10
opticam 35mm (stepless aperture on the front, cool look for video...) often available for $5...
mamiya 85mm f2... if you can find one, i got one for $30!?!?
industar 69 -- the only wide pancake...
I like mamiya - but it shows them at $100 on ebay,
Opticam looks great, as I said, there are so many 135s out there - so many, it is hard to know them all
The Industar is great, but I don't own it yet so I don't want to talk about something I don't own :(
@@Noealz oof yeah, i figured the mamiya was slightly out of budget range, but it's probably worth including in the "lenses under $100 video" next time. very nice, very underrated. probably sharper than my SMC pentax k series 85mm 1.8!?!
one thing i will say, the ebay "recently sold" search is worth mentioning, as the RUclips prices of yesterday will probably sound pretty cheap in 2 years...
@@punkrachmaninoff prices are slowly climbing as more and more people use mirrorless and start usig these types of lenses :3
@@Noealz you gotta be willing to spend $100 per lens on the Pentax glass i've acquired now. i have lenses from four different eras of pentax, i still like those early k-series primes the best. by the way, not all the 55mm 1.8s are radioactive...
