This may be my favorite interpretation of O Solitude yet, and I've listened to a lot of them. I sing it myself, so I'm very familiar with it. I love how he starts with just the pizzicato bass and builds up the continuo from there. I like to practice it myself with just a looped pizzicato bass. To me the song has the feel of a poetry reading, so the minimal accompaniment works well. I hear just a hint of jazz feeling in his singing, which I think fits the song as well.
I TOTALLY agree. There was a bit of a Pop element to his interpretation but honestly it just worked. It was fantastic.
And this hint of jazz feeling makes this interpretation a timeless and also modern piece of art❤.
Every baroque song Richard Mobley does is my favorite. More so when Brandon Acker accompanies him on theorbo.
Absolutely @@kishascape
I have to say that Reginald Mobley has the most FLAWLESS PASSAGIO I've ever had the ravishment to hear
Ravishment! Yes, the very word!
I discovered the works of Purcell almost 40 years ago and have been a devoted fan ever since. How ironic yet wonderful that music written over 300 years ago and performed on period instruments should sound so modern and so relevant. Love love love the vocal interpretation and colours. Masterful.
Le jazz avant l'heure, une merveille!
This man's voice is not of this world.
I totally agree. So deep, so sweet, so control, so heavenly...
You know you're an adult when you switch from thinking solitude as something negative to something positive. I do like people around me, but being alone is so much better. O sweet Solitude.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭He sings it so beautifully.God, what a devotion. And how beautifully he articulates the words.
Is this piece of music really as difficult to sing as I imagine? I hear transitions in it that break my brain and at the same time they are delightful and magical. It's like changing shades of thought and mood that instantly change in music. As if in an instant the entire direction of movement of the body and soul changed. I'm shocked and obsessed.
Thank you for the extraordinary gorgeous singing. Great musical accompaniment...almost jazzy. God bless you all.
Commenting for the algorhythm gods, I'm actually speechless in wonder at Mister Mobley's range and clarity...there aren't words for that voice.
Completely hypnotizing! I love the purity of this voice, brava!
It’s bravo for men , brava is for women. Lol .
Hypnotique et fascinant, presque à faire mal… Qu’elle voix sublime, quelle ligne de chant, quel accompagnement magique. Respect !
Filling the whole space with beauty.
SO SO SO SO GOOD!!
A wonderfully restful and easy voice. Marvellous.
His voice makes me tear up it’s so beautiful.
I know those feels.
so musical, tender, gorgeous.
The tone of your voice is truly like a baroque instrument….a perfect match to the that mellow organum (?). The tone is forward and resonant, without the ringing/squillo classical vocalists seem to aim for. If that makes any sense. Your voice is lovely on the ear!
Even if Alfred Deller has remained THE reference to me for the rendition of this song , i was totally captivated by this voice. C'était magnifique et terriblement émouvant.. Merci beaucoup pour ce précieux cadeau .
Absolument!!
Maybe someday in person... in the meantime, thank you for these wonderful performances
Fascinating! Beautiful!
An entire choir in a single voice
Glorious as usual, Reggie.
Love this. Love you. So fabulous.
Breathtaking, soaring, incredible, what a voice. I don't know Purcell well, but lkve the musical period. This leaves me so very, very relaxed. Everything about this performance is mind boggling spit on. Thank you 👏👏👏⭐⭐⭐
I can't enough of this guy!
Wow. Fabulous!
Pretty sure that when I get to heaven, Reginald Mobley will be providing the soundtrack.
Magnificent!
I am completely blown away! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
This just takes my breath away
I‘m blown away! That was the most perfect thing I have even heard. Now I know what the phrase „Out of this world“ really means.
Bravissimo !!! My appreciation from Barcelona 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
So beautiful! ❤
I really appreciate the clear enunciation!
Quelle voix d’une telle pureté ! Merci !
Amazingly beautiful, as Purcell's music usually is, and the performance is mesmerizing. Thank you for sharing, keep up the good work, and best wishes and thoughts from Spain!
Wondrous...!!
OMG! This is by far the best interpretation of the song I've ever heard! What a pleasure!
🤩
A new fan
Increíble. Maravillosa interpretación. Gracias!!!!!!

C'est la plus merveilleuse interprétation que j'en aie jamais entendu.

Loved this new take on interpretation.
Shades of Cleo Laine !
Love the purity of his voice!
❤❤❤❤❤ drop-dead gorgeous rendition
Wow!!! Love it!!! Nicest voice!!
So relaxing.
Belíssima interpretação com suavidade melódica e marcante do Tenor e do acompanhamento do conjunto musical.

O solitude, my sweetest choice!
Places devoted to the night,
Remote from tumult and from noise,
How ye my restless thoughts delight!
O solitude, my sweetest choice!
O heav'ns! what content is mine
To see these trees, which have appear'd
From the nativity of time,
And which all ages have rever'd,
To look today as fresh and green
As when their beauties first were seen.
O, how agreeable a sight
These hanging mountains do appear,
Which th' unhappy would invite
To finish all their sorrows here,
When their hard fate makes them endure
Such woes as only death can cure.
O, how I solitude adore!
That element of noblest wit,
Where I have learnt Apollo's lore,
Without the pains to study it.
For thy sake I in love am grown
With what thy fancy does pursue;
But when I think upon my own,
I hate it for that reason too,
Because it needs must hinder me
From seeing and from serving thee.
O solitude, O how I solitude adore!
🤩😍
I have little interest in baroque music but I love listening to Reginald Mobley

I wish this had lyrics.
Reggie wins again.
Лучший контртенор современности, на мой личный взгляд.
Ususally I hate countertenors but I really appreciate Reginalds technique. Maybe he could fully abstain from stiff falsetto so he sounds even more like a high ranged tenor.

Absolutely brilliant. Incomparable voice and sensitive accompanient
Wenn ich die Maske sehe ,muss ich gleich wegschalten
Whats with the mask!
masked lunatics...., but the music is fantastic!
i love white culture, it is simply the best
Seems pointless for the musicians to be wearing masks.
very beautiful but its virtually a crime to make them wear masks. Unreal. Why do you obey and put yourselves through this torture? Very sad indeed. But thank you for the music
Mate, for most people masks aren't a big deal, and in general are great for keeping oneself and others safe. Plus, as those masked are playing instruments and not singing, they don't really have a need to Not be wearing a mask.
@@ambrosewyllt Agreed, plus, this was March of 2021
Because Zionist Occupation Government.
@@elisemiller13yes, in March of 2021, most people hadn’t yet gotten their vaccines even, and we were still dealing with early forms of COVID. The instrumentalists were doing the correct and logical thing to be masked at that time. Honestly, they were all keeping the SINGER healthy, since obviously he could not be masked.
I don’t understand why people get their knickers in a twist about masks. Why can’t they understand that it’s about keeping EVERYONE safe? It’s just not that difficult! I didn’t even NOTICE the masks, till I read it here in the comments!
