Tadano had his sister help out to pick and prepare the gift.
In Japan White day has 3 types of return gifts with meanings:
1) Marshmallow: I hate you
2) Cookies: let's stay friends or casual friendship
3) Candy: specially hard sugar ones, mean, that you reciprocate the feeling. Also an confession of 'I like you'

I can finally see the animated reaction of Komi to the candy! Maybe Komi already has an idea that Tadano likes her (lowkey confession of Tadano)
In the manga when they were playing the ‘I love you game.’ They stoped Taranto from saying it as a gag. In the last panel her thoughts showed she was both glad they stoped him and disappointed she did not get to hear it. She already does.

@@deoxi3207 according to Tadano, if you give sweets/candy, it means you like that person. I asked my Japanese teacher if she knows about that but she doesn't know. Maybe not a Japanese culture thing. I hope Komi knows it too since her face says she realized something.

Not necessarily. Giving a candy back to the person who gave u candy is a sign that u are saying u like them too. Usually the confession or declaration of love is said after the gifts are exchanged. Another neat fact is that in graduation when the boy gives a girl his 2nd uniform button it's a declaration of love cuz the 2nd button in the uniform is the closest to the heart so in a sense u are giving the person u love ur heart.

Tadano is so friendly and i love the way he supports Komi despite how quiet and distaint she is. She loves her friends she just has it hard to comunicate with others especially the once she doesen't know. However she is very kind-hearted and super fun beautiful girl love her so much❤❤

As a manga reader, it makes sense cause we need these scenes to have a proper illustration and a good intro for 2nd year. Btw they did amazing, the quality of this ep was by far the best of the serie, 11/10 ep :)

Let’s be honest those two never truly realized and started to act in their feelings until rumiko showed up in the picture. Although if u read the newest chapter you’ll see that she potentially will get a new purpose soon

Maybe slightly off topic but Komi’s dad was one of my favorite characters. They’re all mostly likable but Komi’s dad brings her to get shaved ice and wanting to ask how she’s doing at school and just being a good chill dad really was the best to see
