I think this is a really solid movie and probably the best game to movie adaptation ever. I will say I think a majority of the SFX hold up today especially since this was made in 06’. Pretty impressive
@@ReelReviewHQsweet, big fan of the music. I met Akira quite a few years ago and the rest of the Silent Hill band when they did a UK tour, was awesome
@ReelReviewHQ oh God do not watch the sequel. It's not made by the same director and it's budget is significantly lower than the first movie (first movie was $50 million, second movie was $20 million)
Tiger, you are amazing, we put a lot of thought into our silly intros, and have so much fun making them. Slowly but surely we all shall grow together with many many movies, and Jacob and I are glad you are on the journey with us!
love this reaction! only thing i wanted to add that may not have been mentioned, but i think you caught rosita (twd) was in twilight. andrea (twd) is the cop in silent hill!
Yall are really killing it with the reaction videos. This movie has such an eerie vibe to it and as you mentioned the beautiful artistic shots. Apparently it’s inspired by a real town that burnedz Which is even more creepier and creative for it being a video game
Silent Hill is based off a real place called Centralia in PA..the fire underground is still burning 🔥 look it up, you will see the church!! Your friend did an amazing nurse btw...I absolutely love this movies and the games
Just the movie environment was inspired by Centralia. The games has no connection with that place, also in the games Silent Hill is not a ghost town and there was never a fire, there are no ashes falling, etc...
Not really, just the movie environment was inspired by Centralia, the games have absolutely no connection with that place. In the games Silent Hill is not a ghost town and there was never an underground fire nor ashes falling.
Great reaction, guys, it was refreshing how spot on you were on your interpretations! I'm an avid fan of the games from way back (well... my sister played them and I sat and watched, that way I could help solve the puzzles and unravel the story but cover my eyes if things got really scary 😅) and I was thrilled to hear even your nuanced interpretation of the significance of the monster designs! The games are extremely deep and psychologically meaningful, and a lot of reactors completely miss the mark when watching the movie. New sub!
I mean, by the end you understand the point of view of this demon... but it is *still* a demon. Granting her a happy ending was not in his job description.
If you haven't watched Train to Busan you have to watch it. It's amazing! New sub! and I'm in West Virginia. My late father was a coal miner. The coal mines under my little town are on fire too! It has nothing to do with Silent Hill and as far as I know only 3 or 4 homes are in areas where the fires are close to the surface, but people still live in them.
This is one of my favorite horror films. Another one I went in blind watching. I loved the story line and the worst death by barbed wire I’ve ever witnessed. The skin pulling scene lives in my head rent free unfortunately. Poor Anna 😂
Amazing reaction!! and love the intro so much!!!!! the next movie will come out in 2025(same director of this first movie), and sexy nurses and daddy pyramid head will all be back!
Silent Hill is based on a real town called Centralia, Pennsylvania. It’s an abandoned town that has a slow burning fire underneath the town that can’t be put out.
Not really, just the movie environment was inspired by Centralia, the games have absolutely no connection with that place. In the games Silent Hill is not a ghost town and there was never an underground fire nor ashes falling.
@@ReelReviewHQthe coal mines under the town got set on fire somehow, there’s enough material that geologists expect it to keep burning for at least another 250 years which is wild
No!! The only downside of these movies was that they encouraged people especially kids to try to go there which you absolutely should not do there is a reason that the road indecent area was literally ripped out of the .ground the rem The remaining highway does look pretty cool from overhead as an art price since its covered in graffiti. But the town itself is still burning and prone to sink holes and pockets of methane which is instant death. The guys who did marble hornets (og slenderman) snuck in for footage along with other creepy pasta creators, either way they were dumb and dangerous as hell.
I didn't want to watch it but my brother said "there's a hot woman with short hair" and so I watched it. Guess my brother knew I was gay already. I was 18 when this movie came out and so did I hehehe. But seriously, all I can remeber about it IS the hot blonde cop woman and that the ending made me sad. AND GREAT INTRO.
nice I just found this channel through the Hereditary reaction and now you've also done the movie to my favorite series ! I'll also drop a few recommendations (hope these aren't too dark sided for yall lol): - One Hour Photo (2002) - Society of the Snow (2023) - Parasite (2019) - Rec (2007) & Rec 2 (2009) - The Lighthouse (2019) - The Whale (2022) - Children of Men (2006) - Arrival (2016) - The Others (2001) and the intro was Everythingg lmfaoo, new sub 👋😂
Glad you liked the intro lol, 😂 I haven’t been able to stop listening to Akira since we watched this, such an incredible vibe even tho the setting is so horrific, but there was strange beauty in all that bizarre grotesque horror. I couldn’t look away
Silent Hill is an amazing amazing terrfying game and the soundtrack is incredible. Not for the faint hearted though hahah The movie is a good adaptation and I really wish more people would show it love. Really excited to see the next one next year
Silent Hill is my favorite horror movie although I don't like watching horror... Score, script, actors, cinematography - everything is perfect in this movie! I don't particularly like the sequel but my favorite character (Pyramidhead) kinda sorta gets a redemption moment so I love that part haha
@@ReelReviewHQ that's literally my life goal, so no, it's totally fine! btw, have you seen The Others with Nicole Kidman? it's also a great movie about a foggy place, less scary though
just from the movie content (as I know it differs from the games), some of my understanding: ----------- yes, despite her severely burnt body (from the cult burning her alive) (as punishment for the towns' and its cults' evil, the alter/table that Alessa Gillespie was being burned alive on, was knocked over, and its fires would burn not just the building, but the entire town), Alessa Gillespie didn't die, being rescued/saved by the guy-cop with the gloves over his burnt hands (who Rose's husband interacted with), and taken care of as best as could be, by the hospital's nurses... --------- in her abysmal/burnt state, Alessa Gillespie had nothing but hatred and contempt... "enters" the Devil itself (not merely a demon) (there's lots of demons in the lore of this story, [REDACTED], but this is the Devil itself, no "mere" demon), offering its "contract" to Alessa Gillespie, which she just so eagerly accepts... the Devil gives Alessa some of its power, for her to get her revenge on the town and the cult, in exchange for her soul (revenge/vengeance for Alessa's soul), by merging a part of itself with hateful burnt Alessa, creating "Dark Alessa", but for the Devil to merge a part of itself with Alessa, all of the good, innocence, purity, and etc that was still within Alessa, deep inside of her, had to get out of her, as such "light and goodness" couldn't be sharing the same space with the "darkness and evil" of the Devil itself... which created "Light Alessa", a baby whom would get adopted by Rose and her husband (whatever his name, lol), whom they would name "Sharon" this is how/why "Sharon" had her dreams/visions and etc, how the Devil could "talk" and interact with her, as part of the Devil was merged with Alessa, creating "Dark Alessa", one half of Alessa, and the other half of Alessa, is "Sharon", the "Light Alessa" once/after the hateful burnt Alessa Gillespie "signed" the Devil's "contract", all of the "sinners" just disappeared as mentioned by that guy-cop with the gloves covering his burnt hands, as they were transported to Purgatory/Limbo (the "fog world"), with Dark Alessa creating a fake silent hill there, so the "sinners" would still think they're alive within their silent hill town in the real world... as she gets her revenge on them, having them suffer for eternity... except, she couldn't get her revenge upon those within the church, as it was holy grounds, even being within Purgatory/Limbo (the "fog world"), and being (or despite being) the Devil itself, it must honor its contracts, and so, the Devil had to find a way to get to those "sinners" hiding within the church... the Devil's plan involved Rose... not only getting the revenge for Alessa, but also in going after, Light Alessa ("Sharon") too, what luck for the Devil... getting to "kill two birds with one stone"... but what is the Devil's interest with "Sharon" (Light Alessa).... hmm.... what happens at near the end of the movie, "Sharon" (Light Alessa) opens her eyes... looking at the Devil, and it smiles back at her... and there's a lot more to explain, but not going to get into it... too much work... ----------------- pyramid head, was assigned by the Devil, as/to-be the protector of Dark Alessa, which thus extended to those Dark Alessa cared about and wanted to protect, like her mother, Dahlia Gillespie, and Rose too, as Rose was trying to help Dark Alessa and cared about Dark Alessa, as well as also, the Devil needing Rose as well, in order to honor it's "contract" with Alessa, to get revenge, on the last of the "sinners" hiding in the church... and so, protecting Rose with in both Dark Alessa's and the Devil's interests, and so Pyramid Head protected Rose too ----------- the 4 "realms/worlds/dimensions/etc" seen in the movie: 1. the real world (earth), with its silent hill town, which is burnt down, and closed off from the public, and flashbacks into its past moments as well, with what happened with/to Alessa Gillespie... 2. the "fog world" (Purgatory/Limbo), which has the fake silent hill town in it 3. Hell itself (the Devil's realm/domain/world/etc), which we see as the burning mine like shaft, and "the Darkness", when the sirens go off in the "fog world" fake silent hill, and we see all of the punished/tormented "sinners" of the silent hill town, getting their eternal suffering, as the Devil "contracted" with Alessa Gillespie, for her soul, creating Dark Alessa and also Light Alessa too 4. Holy Grounds (God's domain/realm/dimension/etc), the cultist's church, even despite being within the "fog world", it's still holy grounds ----------- the 4 Alessa's in the movie: 1. Alessa Gillespie (as a child in the flashbacks and as the severely burnt teen/young-woman, BEFORE she then "signs" the "contract" with the Devil) 2. the Devil (she's the "Alessa/Sharon" that we see the most, getting Rose to chase after "her"/it, and then testing Rose in its "trial" to reach Dark Alessa, we also see the Devil at the very end of the movie, allowing Rose to go back to her "house/home", except it's fake, as it's still within the "fog world", and Rose thinks she's going to be with her daughter Sharon, but we see "Sharon", walking off, leaving Rose alone in her "house/home"... as this is not "Sharon"/Light-Alessa, but rather, the Devil) 3. Dark Alessa (she's created AFTER Alessa "signs" the Devil's "contract", with part of the Devil merging with her, to grant her its powers for her to get her revenge, but this also pushes out all of the good, purity, innocence, and etc still deep within Alessa, creating Light Alessa, whom would get adopted by Rose and her husband, and them naming her as Sharon) 4. Light Alessa ("Sharon", she's only seen at the very beginning of the movie, in the real world, briefly in the flashback of her as a baby being left on the orphanage steps, and then at the near end part of the movie, when she's found by the cultists and during the "church massacre" scene, but at the very end of the movie, it's not "Sharon"/Light-Alessa, but rather, the Devil, allowing Rose to go back to her "house/home", except it's fake, as it's still within the "fog world", and Rose thinks she's going to be with her daughter Sharon, but we see "Sharon", walking off, leaving Rose alone in her "house/home"... as this is not "Sharon"/Light-Alessa, but rather, the Devil, Rose is still trapped/stuck in "the fog world", the fake silent hill, but the Devil is giving Rose a tiny bit of "happiness", pretending to be "sharon", Rose sacrificed herself, making a contract with the Devil, letting the Devil use her body, so that it can enter the church, as Rose is pure, sacrificing herself, to save her daughter, and keep its contract with Alessa for her revenge on the cultists, and also to save "Sharon"/Light-Alessa from being burnt alive by the cultists as well too, "Sharon"/Light-Alessa, like her foster mother Rose, is still stuck/trapped in "the fog world", but she was saved from getting burnt alive by the cultists, and she is also safe/protected within "the fog world", but kept away/hidden from Rose... with the Devil pretending to be "Sharon"/Light-Alessa)
Silent Hill is based on a real place, namely Centralia Pennsylvania, which was evacuated because of a mine fire in the 60's. The fire is still burning today and will likely burn for more than 200 years. There are still a few people who live there illegally, but they're putting their health at serious risk.
Great reaction! I love watching you guys watch horror movies 😁 I can recommend the movie "The Ritual" from 2017. It has that thing where the horror is not just the horror you see on screen, but the human horror as well
If you want some mildly disturbing facts about the place where this is sort of based on I do have to preface that even as a joke... Never ever even consider going there! I'm glad you didn't really mention it in debt because I know there have been instances where creators have talked about the actual place and have results in kids or just very stupid adults attempting to find it and check it out because it's deceptively dangerous. I've lived near it at Centralia PA and long story short the way the town looks because it's constantly covered in what looks like missed some of the silent Hill was a big draw and a huge inspiration for the video design and the production of this film along with the art design and how they were able to incorporate so much of the mechanics of the game. However in Centralia what your city is not missed it is smoke along with various deadly gases that are constantly being formed dissipated and formed in searching outward again. a little bit after the Great depression obviously everybody was super duper poor and you know trying to make moonshine Appalachia there was no exception to this and because this is the rust belt Pennsylvania has a whole lot of coal and at the time Centralia was a very small town we were pretty much 90% of the people that live there worked in the mines however as time went on the mines had less and less cold they were able to actively get. Who were encroaching upon that for an extra profit offering things like protecting the various minds or mine owners from robberies from other people basically extortion and racketeering. A lot of the older miners we talked about when the town had been super successful in the minds of impact and they talked about various veins that hadn't been explored or delved into for a number of reasons but if they had kept going they just knew that there would be a whole lot of coal right there more importantly it would be a lot of anthracite...and anthracite is the mac daddy of all types of coal especially in terms of value heat index required ignition and half-life of the cold brick itself meaning of incredibly cost efficient to use for a heat source or energy source. Like the difference between gold and platinum or rhodium. As a result a lot of more desperate people began going to all of these so-called undiscovered tunnels to try to mine and they literally went in the dozens, because what they were doing was highly illegal the areas that they were digging in either belonged to the mine company still or to various other citizens as private property or Pennsylvania state government. Whatsoever, additionally and most importantly however is mine shafts have to be registered and given not only to the mind company owners in the upper management but also the local areas infrastructure groups so the people in charge of sewage, water treatment, utilities if the various areas did have electric at that point. Ranger station to get to know about them and certifier and police on the off chance if there was an accident in one of the legitimate mineshafts they would know exactly where it was and what the train would be like to dig through if we needed to to rescue someone if there was a horrible accident. additionally obviously you're going to want to know about every chef that exists so you know where you're going underneath you know where you've already been and you're not getting lost by attempting to mind the same shaft twice... Mostly though it was simply an act of precaution because of the fact that they needed to know what minds existed in which didn't which ones have been closed off and why because of certain materials in and around that particular shaft because the thing was the owners weren't lazy about going in to get more coal in these extra little shafts I mean they were major business owners of course they're not lazy and even if they were it's not as if they would have been going, they would just send her very expendable Irish immigrant workers to go and if they died well less Irish I guess. all of this culminated in several fires starting underground because of the fact that all this is happening the town is population was also growing substantially and as a result the sanitation system they had set up was no longer working in other words they had a massive landfill that was being filled to above and beyond any practical level of containment and therefore it literally became a full-time job just to consistently have to be at the landfill non-stop burning the top layer coming back with construction equipment to push it back down only to have massive amounts of garbage from the town in the local areas to be placed on top all over again and repeat the process to the point where it was becoming on tenable, so they propose digging a new landfill the problem was none of them were aware of the fact that the coal mines in the area that were allegedly inactive were now not only active but a bunch of tiny offshoots no one knew the locations of were active now too...this will ultimately be the pun intended match to strike the fire, the landfill just like the original one was constantly being burned and eventually those embers in that fire and then extreme heat along with flammable material and the ignition source they would use for the landfill, gas gunpowder etc whatever they had to use she starts the fires because the landfill has been done cheaply and very very quickly because they were already dealing with another emergency with the first landfill you ended up having superheated are full of flammable materials that was being sucked in and around fishers and cracks in the side walls of the landfill and basically you had is miniature floating bombs of shorts or floating ignition devices so it's sucked into fishes in the sides of the landfill into the tunnels that no one knew were actively being used and because they were actively being used please create a whole another can of worms simply because in a normal mindset there are Gates and other various things to try to control air flow within the ship within the shaft and the main body of the mind especially when trying to prevent deaths because of a bad air from things like methane or carbon monoxide. On the fly and in secret they weren't doing the usual of securing entrances and exits to the mines at punch out. Preventing someone from spotting a giant hole in the ground with the naked eye if they happen to be in the area meaning that all of these fires essentially had a perpetual source of heat flame and flammable ignition material and they also had constant non-stop access to Fresh oxygen being blown in from the tunnel entrances. It took a little while for people to realize it was happening but essentially smoke started covering up the entire town and people were getting sick with the water was unhealthy and you would have sinkholes appearing out of nowhere multiple ones in a single day. This got so bad that there were multiple Town meet ings arguing because over the years they would go through millions of dollars and that's million in their time at hours about how to fix this with everything from experts to servants to the military to people who were allegedly the smartest human beings on Earth and none of them could come up with an effective plan to fix this I felt within their budget because they waited too long and now they couldn't get the funds to try to do some more outlandish things and the government essentially did not care because a lot of the time was made up of gang members and family members of gang members and or simply immigrants that were only recently emigrated to the country and racism of course existed way more back then so there was no inclination by the government to come in and help this town full of scoundrels and icky yucky brown European people. And the sinkholes would start to get more and more egregious as of now it's projected to stop burning in about 2560 years there is only I believe 3 or 4 people left living in town everyone else left it was bought out by the government to move the remaining people have finally after years of being stubborn old Appalachians have agreed that in exchange for the states and their natural deaths they agree not to put any of their family members to receive so once those people die there will be a zero population and the state can go back to continue to try to find a way to put the fire out Israelis in Farmer common keeping people from trying to go in mostly because of this movie or Urban legends.the issue of preventing people from going in especially young people is so bad they actually ripped up and removed the road that existed off of the exit ramp of the State highway, find that the asphalt is completely chopped up for a good 20 ft and then after the 20th you see the regular road again except it's covered in a manner that honestly you can't even tell it was ever black just nothing but graffiti which kids have done over the years because they can get away with it. Carbon monoxide the sinkholes sulfur is rampant along with God knows how many microplastics and other things that have been allowed to fester and grow their especially dangerous fungus because while there is a lot of smoke it's also genuinely usually fairly hot in the town because of all of this they have a lot of heretic weather infested with various deadly strains of mold and fungi. So please don't go don't even joke about it
I’ve played a LOT of Silent Hill, and I’ve always really enjoyed this movie for the way it nails the vibe. I even understand why they made the choices for the film that aren’t consistent with the games, because at the time they prob thought there would only be one opportunity to make a SH movie. The sequel is pretty bad, I don’t recommend as it’s more of a schlocky cash-grab…but I am interested in the upcoming SH2 movie adaptation. Subbed, you guys have great banter and the intros are top notch!
@@ReelReviewHQ I think so, Christophe Gans, it will be interesting to see how he reconciles certain choices made for the first movie, especially with the success of the remake of the Silent Hill 2 game. I’m a sucker for SH tho, I’ll try just about anything related to it for the love of the series!
I’ve already seen this movie a few times, but watching scary movies with yall makes it less scary, so I feel like I got more out of the actual story than the first few times 🤣
Also this movie does not follow any one specific game completely, I don't know how to describe it especially without spoiling it. Silent Hill 1 and 3 are exactly sequential, Silent Hill 2 and 4 and the remaining SH's are not, there's plenty that's changed for the movie. You don't even play as a female protagonist at all until SH3. So no, it doesn't just follow the games, they're very different. The original and subsequent games are heavily inspired by Adrian Lyne's Jacob's Ladder (1990) (particularly Silent Hill 2) which in turn was inspired by the Tibetan Book of the Dead. As you already noticed, the creatures seem to be a representation of their own 'sins' which if you've read the Tibetan Book of the Dead makes perfect sense. Silent Hill is a deeply psychological series. I couldn't explain more without spoiling a bunch of stuff plus the lore is too deep, but if you enjoyed the movie you should definitely just check out the actual series ! edit: calling Pyramid Head, Triangle man is so funny lol and yes one of the greatest things about SH is the iconic, gorgeous original score by Akira Yamaoka. There are countless' Silent Chill' playlists for this reason :)
Jacob’s ladder is one I always use to see the cover for but was to freaked out to check it out, would you say it’s worth the watch? Also Triangle man forever!!!
@@ReelReviewHQ definitely, Jacob's Ladder is one of my favorite films ever though my taste leans darker lol ! It has influenced so many famous pieces of media and franchises. It also pioneered certain camera techniques and themes in plot common now but that were never done before. It's absolutely worth the watch, it's one of those films you should watch at least one time in your life, and if you've read any major religious or spiritual works you'll also understand the themes more and probably get even more out of it upon first watch :)
This movie does adapt the first game in the series and follows the overall plot (and cinematography!) quite faithfully until the part in the hotel when they took a different route. The first game is about a father called Harry Mason looking for his daughter Cheryl. So they obviously changed Harry to Rose and Cheryls name to Sharon (for some reason). Alessa is in the first game, Cybil the cop is in it as well. But they did change the backstory a bit, added characters, removed others, turned Dhalia into a more grey character for the movie. And well the ending of the movie is different as well but something you can always talk about after watching the movie because it's open for interpretation which I love. Jacobs Ladder it's absolutely worth a watch btw. You can easily see how it influenced the games with it's vibe and art direction. It feels like it could fit in the Silent Hill game series. We do pretend that there is no Silent Hill Revelation though because that is an absolute abomination of a movie.
@@ReelReviewHQ the story is magnificent! This movie is a somewhat adaptation of the first game, in which the protagonist was actually the father. But silent hill 2 is a stand alone game, one of the best in history! Out it on the channel! I would come back every time!!
Brilliant reaction guys. Silent Hill the film in my opinion, is fantastic, it's a great adaptation. There is a But, the game is so much better and darker and has waaay more info of back story of Alessa. I sure hope you guys manage to play the game (first 4 games at least) I'm sure you would love them. Great reaction guys. New fan here.
@ReelReviewHQ oh trust me, wait till you get deep into the games. Your brain will only ask more questions of the madness that is silent Hill lol. You should totally do a game play reaction video, I'd watch it. Also subscribed to your channel
the sequel (Silent Hill 2 : Revelation, 2012), isn't that great of a movie (not done as good as this one was), but it does has some cool stuff in it, and most importantly, it gets more into the plot and etc, explaining a lot more with what is going on in this movie, and so, you should watch it, just to help with trying to figure out what is really going on with a lot of the stuff within this first movie, as well as what happens in the sequel these movies are very loosely (hardly at all) based on the games, but as movies, they have their own story, plot, and its mysteries to figure out (different from the games), which is probably what makes these movies probably the best game adaptations, ever if the movies themselves, sheerly as movies, aren't that great, and have lots of issues, it's a really good story, plot, and mystery, that stands on its own, it's own take on the lore/story/plot/etc, that is different from that of the games
Did you know that actually that you know this is based on a beta game but the place is actually a real existing place it’s called silent Hill. Hence obviously sorry. Haha . But sorry I meant like there’s a real place called silent Hill., and it was under a coal mine, and everybody diedl out , it became a ghost town , I think Zack Baggins also like covered such a place I think,

As much as I love the Resident Evil movies... Silent Hill is the better horror game made into a movie.
Yea I’ve seen some of the resident evil stuff, and it is wild lol to say the least
The director of this one is making a new Silent Hill movie (Return to Silent Hill) and its based off Silent Hill 2, which recently got a remake.
This makes me very happy, We saw there is a sequel to the first movie, is it any good?
@ReelReviewHQ oh God do not watch the sequel. It's not made by the same director and it's budget is significantly lower than the first movie (first movie was $50 million, second movie was $20 million)
I say give the sequel a chance it has Sean bean it and a older Sharon she looks exactly like her from the 3rd game you play as her in it.
@@ReelReviewHQno sirs. No it is not. The problem they encountered is they tried to base it around silent hill 3 and it just didn’t fit into the movie.

@@Gojira1986the games are hospital and mental illness/trauma based
Great reaction, guys, it was refreshing how spot on you were on your interpretations! New sub!
"It's black snowwww"
"Oh it's Ash"
One of my favorite moments in all your videos so far.
I mean, by the end you understand the point of view of this demon... but it is *still* a demon. Granting her a happy ending was not in his job description.
you guys are amazing!!! i love the intros 😂
Coming from Batman, that means the world!!!
49:57 also … the score, might be a creepy thing, but I love writing to this score. It’s relaxing and haunting
Poor Anna 😂
This kind of reminds me of “sucker punch” in a weird way. If you guys haven’t seen it yet, you should watch it. It’s awesome.
I saw like 10 mins of sucker punch one time, and just that little bit, I think I know what you mean lol
I get that vibe too, I think it’s the dreamlike atmosphere
Your intros are so great 😂
Literally means the world to us for you to say that!
Amazing intro
Thank you so much!!!!
I love when u guys put extra effort to the introsXD
It’s our inner directors screaming to come out lol glad you appreciate them!

That intro was actually funny asf, subbed.
Though instead of nurses, it would definitely have to be pyramid head for me to stand there and twerk
Thank you man We appreciate that a lot, PYRAMID HEAD!?!? Lmao
The "real" Silent Hill is Centralia, PA. Underground mines have been on fire for decades.
Amazing reaction!! and love the intro so much!!!!! the next movie will come out in 2025(same director of this first movie), and sexy nurses and daddy pyramid head will all be back!
I am so exited they are making another!!

Silent Hill is based on a real town called Centralia, Pennsylvania. It’s an abandoned town that has a slow burning fire underneath the town that can’t be put out.
So that’s horrifying, group field trip?

These are my two new favorite reactors. 😂hilarious, good commentary, and it definitely helps that they’re cute asf 😅
'Hmmm save yourself! I got this!' 😂😂😂 I died laughing!
LMAO black snow, new suscriber!

the intro, I'm dead
I didn't want to watch it but my brother said "there's a hot woman with short hair" and so I watched it. Guess my brother knew I was gay already. I was 18 when this movie came out and so did I hehehe. But seriously, all I can remeber about it IS the hot blonde cop woman and that the ending made me sad. AND GREAT INTRO.
That intro had us in stitches when we were cutting it together, I’m glad you appreciate our insanity lol 😂

Silent Hill is an amazing amazing terrfying game and the soundtrack is incredible. Not for the faint hearted though hahah
The movie is a good adaptation and I really wish more people would show it love.
We found the vibe of silent hill to be so awesome, but also terrifying, is it weird to want to live in a foggy ghost town? 😂
@@ReelReviewHQ that's literally my life goal, so no, it's totally fine! btw, have you seen The Others with Nicole Kidman? it's also a great movie about a foggy place, less scary though

They died when they crashed. All three of them.
just from the movie content (as I know it differs from the games), some of my understanding:
-----------
yes, despite her severely burnt body (from the cult burning her alive) (as punishment for the towns' and its cults' evil, the alter/table that Alessa Gillespie was being burned alive on, was knocked over, and its fires would burn not just the building, but the entire town), Alessa Gillespie didn't die, being rescued/saved by the guy-cop with the gloves over his burnt hands (who Rose's husband interacted with), and taken care of as best as could be, by the hospital's nurses...
---------
in her abysmal/burnt state, Alessa Gillespie had nothing but hatred and contempt...
"enters" the Devil itself (not merely a demon) (there's lots of demons in the lore of this story, [REDACTED], but this is the Devil itself, no "mere" demon), offering its "contract" to Alessa Gillespie, which she just so eagerly accepts...
the Devil gives Alessa some of its power, for her to get her revenge on the town and the cult, in exchange for her soul (revenge/vengeance for Alessa's soul), by merging a part of itself with hateful burnt Alessa, creating "Dark Alessa", but for the Devil to merge a part of itself with Alessa, all of the good, innocence, purity, and etc that was still within Alessa, deep inside of her, had to get out of her, as such "light and goodness" couldn't be sharing the same space with the "darkness and evil" of the Devil itself... which created "Light Alessa", a baby whom would get adopted by Rose and her husband (whatever his name, lol), whom they would name "Sharon"
this is how/why "Sharon" had her dreams/visions and etc, how the Devil could "talk" and interact with her, as part of the Devil was merged with Alessa, creating "Dark Alessa", one half of Alessa, and the other half of Alessa, is "Sharon", the "Light Alessa"
once/after the hateful burnt Alessa Gillespie "signed" the Devil's "contract", all of the "sinners" just disappeared as mentioned by that guy-cop with the gloves covering his burnt hands, as they were transported to Purgatory/Limbo (the "fog world"), with Dark Alessa creating a fake silent hill there, so the "sinners" would still think they're alive within their silent hill town in the real world... as she gets her revenge on them, having them suffer for eternity...
except, she couldn't get her revenge upon those within the church, as it was holy grounds, even being within Purgatory/Limbo (the "fog world"), and being (or despite being) the Devil itself, it must honor its contracts, and so, the Devil had to find a way to get to those "sinners" hiding within the church...
the Devil's plan involved Rose... not only getting the revenge for Alessa, but also in going after, Light Alessa ("Sharon") too, what luck for the Devil... getting to "kill two birds with one stone"... but what is the Devil's interest with "Sharon" (Light Alessa).... hmm.... what happens at near the end of the movie, "Sharon" (Light Alessa) opens her eyes... looking at the Devil, and it smiles back at her...
and there's a lot more to explain, but not going to get into it... too much work...
-----------------
pyramid head, was assigned by the Devil, as/to-be the protector of Dark Alessa, which thus extended to those Dark Alessa cared about and wanted to protect, like her mother, Dahlia Gillespie, and Rose too, as Rose was trying to help Dark Alessa and cared about Dark Alessa, as well as also, the Devil needing Rose as well, in order to honor it's "contract" with Alessa, to get revenge, on the last of the "sinners" hiding in the church... and so, protecting Rose with in both Dark Alessa's and the Devil's interests, and so Pyramid Head protected Rose too
-----------
the 4 "realms/worlds/dimensions/etc" seen in the movie:
1. the real world (earth), with its silent hill town, which is burnt down, and closed off from the public, and flashbacks into its past moments as well, with what happened with/to Alessa Gillespie...
2. the "fog world" (Purgatory/Limbo), which has the fake silent hill town in it
3. Hell itself (the Devil's realm/domain/world/etc), which we see as the burning mine like shaft, and "the Darkness", when the sirens go off in the "fog world" fake silent hill, and we see all of the punished/tormented "sinners" of the silent hill town, getting their eternal suffering, as the Devil "contracted" with Alessa Gillespie, for her soul, creating Dark Alessa and also Light Alessa too
4. Holy Grounds (God's domain/realm/dimension/etc), the cultist's church, even despite being within the "fog world", it's still holy grounds
-----------
the 4 Alessa's in the movie:
1. Alessa Gillespie (as a child in the flashbacks and as the severely burnt teen/young-woman, BEFORE she then "signs" the "contract" with the Devil)
2. the Devil (she's the "Alessa/Sharon" that we see the most, getting Rose to chase after "her"/it, and then testing Rose in its "trial" to reach Dark Alessa, we also see the Devil at the very end of the movie, allowing Rose to go back to her "house/home", except it's fake, as it's still within the "fog world", and Rose thinks she's going to be with her daughter Sharon, but we see "Sharon", walking off, leaving Rose alone in her "house/home"... as this is not "Sharon"/Light-Alessa, but rather, the Devil)
3. Dark Alessa (she's created AFTER Alessa "signs" the Devil's "contract", with part of the Devil merging with her, to grant her its powers for her to get her revenge, but this also pushes out all of the good, purity, innocence, and etc still deep within Alessa, creating Light Alessa, whom would get adopted by Rose and her husband, and them naming her as Sharon)

Thank you so much!! This movie was such a vibe, and I heard the next one for silent hill 2 is gonna be the same director? Is that true?
@@ReelReviewHQ I think so, Christophe Gans, it will be interesting to see how he reconciles certain choices made for the first movie, especially with the success of the remake of the Silent Hill 2 game. I’m a sucker for SH tho, I’ll try just about anything related to it for the love of the series!
I’ve already seen this movie a few times, but watching scary movies with yall makes it less scary, so I feel like I got more out of the actual story than the first few times 🤣
We are so glad to have you watch with us, we can’t wait to do some live watches on twitch once we get that all set up!
The actress that plays the cop also plays Andrea on The Walking Dead, a main character.
Yes!!! That’s so awesome 😎
So, without further a doo doo. See what i did there? 😂
PLEASE REACT TO BLACK SWAN !!
You guys should play silent hill 2 remake!
I would need to wear about 14 layers of pants first. But maybe it’s time we face our fears!
@@ReelReviewHQ the story is magnificent! This movie is a somewhat adaptation of the first game, in which the protagonist was actually the father. But silent hill 2 is a stand alone game, one of the best in history! Out it on the channel! I would come back every time!!
SHARON!
Thank you so much Lucien!! Really appreciate that, yea the games are down right freaky looking lol
@ReelReviewHQ oh trust me, wait till you get deep into the games. Your brain will only ask more questions of the madness that is silent Hill lol. You should totally do a game play reaction video, I'd watch it. Also subscribed to your channel
Thank you so much for the subscription! Seriously means a lot, Jacob and I were seriously talking about doing that!
@@ReelReviewHQ you're welcome, anytime. Ohh would be awesome if you did. The games are genuinely awesome
There is a sequel but it's not as popular.
Apparently there’s a new sequel in the works
the sequel (Silent Hill 2 : Revelation, 2012), isn't that great of a movie (not done as good as this one was), but it does has some cool stuff in it, and most importantly, it gets more into the plot and etc, explaining a lot more with what is going on in this movie, and so, you should watch it, just to help with trying to figure out what is really going on with a lot of the stuff within this first movie, as well as what happens in the sequel
these movies are very loosely (hardly at all) based on the games, but as movies, they have their own story, plot, and its mysteries to figure out (different from the games), which is probably what makes these movies probably the best game adaptations, ever if the movies themselves, sheerly as movies, aren't that great, and have lots of issues, it's a really good story, plot, and mystery, that stands on its own, it's own take on the lore/story/plot/etc, that is different from that of the games
