    The two florocarbon knots I use exclusively both came from Shaw. I NEVER break off and they are so EASY to tie. Thank you Shaw for the great insight.

    Perfect knot for my UL fishing. I use a #8 braid w/ #3 leader. I have had some #5-8 channel cats on with this knot and it handled the fish flawlessly and I did not ever have to question if the not would hold.
    Because I use small diameter line, I go with 7 wraps on the Uni and 17 wraps on the clinch.
    Thank you Mr. Grigsby and the fellow who taught you this knot.

    I've began tying this knot instead of my normal double uni splice. I MUCH prefer this knot with the improved clinch instead of the 2nd uni knot. I go with 4 & 10 wraps just to save time, haven't had it slip or fail yet. Great easy knot for utilizing a fluoro leader. When I first made the jump to braided line on my spinning tackle, I was intimidated by the thought of utilizing a leader and having to tie the knots. Not so anymore. VERY easy. I can rig up a new leader and be fishing within a couple minutes now. Even on a rocking boat, or in low light.
    There is literally no reason to be fishing anything other than braided line with a fluorocarbon leader on spinning tackle these days. You get the sensitivity/feel of the no-stretch braided line, with the invisibility of fluorocarbon. Fantastic setup. 20lb braid with 8 or 10lb leader is fantastic. My go-to setup finesse fishing like shaky heads, weightless wacky or drop shot is 20lb power pro, 10lb seaguar invisx, on a 7 ft medium Dobyns Champion XP w/ a Stradic 2500. $400 setup but well worth it and I'll own it for life.

      have you tried the alberto knot vs this one?

    • @robertbrandywine

      There IS a reason -- topwater. There you need braid to mono.

      @robertbrandywine 5 лет назад

      @@BryanHersch I've had the Alberto fail on me. I am careful tying it but apparently not good enough, so if it has to be *perfect* in order to hold, it is no good to me.

    Anyone know what this knot is called? It's next to impossible to see what he's doing in this video with the lighting, and how small the line is, etc.... I'd love to learn this.

    Why is this better than the Uni-Uni and why is the Improved Clinch knot, a notoriously weak knot, okay here? Why not an Improved Clinch - Improved Clinch?

    I used this know quite a bit. It’s good. Then I found the FG know which is better. Look up salt strong video on how to tie it.

    This knots OK … but I use/tie an RP knot for larger sized braid/flurocarbon … for say tying 5# braid to 4# fluorocarbon I still tie an Albright knot … working with small diameter lines sucks, but it’s easier for me to tie an Albright …
    I fish large tuna and stuff … I use and tie my own wide on leaders, but in a pinch fishing for say 100# tuna I tie the RP knot … when attaching braid to fluorocarbon’s… their are other knots just as strong as the RP … maybe even stronger… but not as fast …
    If your anal put a drop of super glue on the RP knot and wipe off the excess it’ll still go thru the guides… it’s a super small knot …
    The knot shown here is still too large for my liking …
