When I sit down with Syntakt most often these hypnotic trips flow out. Syntakt is capable of great textures. Today is freedom day in The Netherlands hence the name of this jam (released). There's an obvious dissonance between this celebration and what goes on elsewhere in the world.
This groove was completely made with Syntakt. Post processing: a slight mid EQ dip, compression, subtle OTO boum comp+saturation.

woah what a Brett ^^
goes pretty good vorwärts :D
@@user-zr1ij2nz6j aber hello :P
Just to let you know, I would love to pay for the breakdown of these Syntakt tracks as smaller video courses by themselves.
Love your style of techno
Hi Johan, have been thinking about this for some time and am thinking about a form to do this in. So this will definitely happen and hopefully in the near future. It would be something like releasing the track I create on bandcamp plus a break down of the track as an option with the pattern included etc. Keep an eye on my channel / instagram / mailing list 👍 and thanks for letting me know that it is something that interest you!
@@Davemech yeah, people would quicker shell out 15-20€ for such things then buying a full course..
@@DavemechThat would be great! Would also pay for it!
Probably my favourite of your jams yet! Wicked stuff Dave
Thanks !! Really appreciate it. This kind of off beat is really what I like to create the most :)
@@Davemech wow me to this is your best one yet for sure wow incredible sound
I can't wait for the part 2 of the course ! Incredible thank you Dave !
Thanks and thanks for the support ! Part 2 is going to be fun :).
Hey Im thinking about buying the course, I assume you recommend it :)? If you dont mind me asking what growth did you get from it & would i get a lot out of it as a beginner syntakt user? Thanks!
Also dave:
This is a great jam!
Love the vibes on this one! Great work as always Dave!
Wonderful stuff! Always love your work with the ST 🙌
Awesome to hear Clement !
I’m going to release these tracks including pattern and walkthrough video. Going to take a bit of time as I’m first going to create part 2 for syntakt. Cheers !
@Davemech Hello Dave !I can't waiting much more the release, the pattern and the walkthrough vidéo of this amazing track !And part 2 of the course for Syntakt !Please do That for me 😜
Hypnotized!🖤😇
GREAT SOUND !
Thank you!
You are expanding nicely dave
So good, great movement, kinda smoothly swinging back and forth between tonal and atonal, beautiful ❤
Thanks dude 🙏
Gonna get one of these soon and sign up for your course. Sounds awesome! Looking forward to making some beats of this nature. 🙌💚
Awesome ! It’s a wonderful machine. Push the machines to weird places and it will open up :). Enjoy!
Brilliant
This was awesome!!! You should come jam in VRChat with a bunch of us on modular/hardware setups. It's a nice relaxing and fun time :) We throw shows every Monday starting at 8pm EST and there are VJs that do visuals live as well. It's pretty cool. You just make an unlisted or public stream on YT or Twitch and put the link in a video player in game. Then the audio and visuals are there for everyone in game. We all just use desktop mode, no need for VR, but it's pretty cool in VR. Anyway, awesome jams, holler!
Hey that’s sounds pretty cool :). What’s it called ?
Do you know if there is some way that the visuals and audio could be synced? Like latency-compensation?
.... Forgets link....
Great work Dave...
Wow that was something 👌👍
Very great job for this one.
excellent! Sounds great!
Thanks Jay!
I clicked on this without seeing who made it. Listening to the music and I'm like.. oh this is really good.. who dis? Ohhhh of course it's Mech....😂
😅 cheers mate 🙏
This is awesome! Super fresh dude. I make Syntakt tracks too so I can appreciate the effort that went into this. Great job!
Thank you ! ❤️
Top! As always ;-) !
Thanks 🙏
Yep
Great stuff Dave! Now I'm inspired! 🥳
Very nice man. 🔥🔥🔥👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💪🤟
This sounds good. I had one for a few weeks. But I really hated the way the dual VCO sounded. It was similar to the 3rd rytm black one.
It pretty much the same dual vco as the rytm (mk1 and mk2 black/grey are all the same when it comes to sound engine). They added the raw machine to the syntakt’s analog machines. Which is quite nice. The dual vco is also pretty nice I’d say. Just have to go a bit nuts with the lfos, filter and routing it to the fx block for example. Or layering it with a digital voice. Etc.
@@Davemech i keep hearing, but I swear the grey rytm sounds better to my liking. I have a bassline on thr grey that I cant get on the black 3.
@@OriginOfSmallPoxisEgypt the only reason that might happen is that one is better calibrated than the other ( can be done via startup settings I believe). Probably has to do with a bit of difference in tuning. The circuitry is literally the same :)
Is this better to use alone for live production over a digitak? I’m looking to start with one of these pieces and start making live techno, absolutely love what your doing it’s so damn inspiring, also are you using a daw in conjunction with this or just completely this nothing else?
Thanks for the kind words 🙏
It’s a tough question to answer. Syntakt is deeper that one might think when first starting with it but it’s very quick to work with and create sketches, grooves and even full tracks. Digitakt is great because it is a sampler and you can really mangle samples into textures that would be impossible to synthesize. So really a matter of your preference between samples and synthesis. Both are equally capable !
This track was made with syntakt and recorded in one take. I recorded a stereo recording into a daw and applies a little bit of mastering. That’s it :).
@@Davemech wow ok thanks so much for the information, the elecktrons are quiet pricey so I think I’m going to start with a korg drums and korg keys combo, and once I got a solid understanding on those I will move to the elektron devices bc I know they offer so so much but just too much for me to start with
@@Spindilydan good approach ! I also offer beginner courses on both DT and ST as well as more advanced courses. The beginner courses are created in way that you can start with them knowing nothing :). Maybe that’ll help? Cheers
@@Davemech I will definitely check the courses out when I get time, definitely in the future will probably get some elektron bc the sets you make on them are all that I’ve ever wanted to come close to producing, keep up the fantastic work!🤟
How many DVCO's can be used at the same time?
3 of the 4 analog audio tracks have the DVCO machine which can be used simultaneously. And then you still have 8 digital tracks left where you have a variety of synth machines.
Thanks@@Davemech
Was that around 130 to 140bpm
134 👍
Whats the difference between syntakt and alectron digitakt
In short: Digitakt is a sample based groovebox and syntakt is a synthesis based groovebox :)
Guys don't get hyped, all this a much more can be done with the Digitakt, If you already have a Digitakt don't get this machine.
Disagreed. Different machines. This cannot do what DT can do. And DT can not do what this can do. And I use both everyday since their release ;)
@@Davemech The question, what you can do with this machine, you can't do with a Digitakt? You can mostly have any sound designed by Syntakt as a sample in Digitakt, only addition to the Digitakt I can see, is the synth, and that's not a big of a deal when you can turn the digitakt into a synth for samples too.
@@zerubeusBy that logic any sampler = all synthesizers ever made. You miss the direct control over the synth engines. And you can take these synth engines into surprising directions. Then take parameter locking into consideration on those synth engines. Then also realize that you can use the FX block in very creative ways, which DT doesn't have at all. Etc. You can sample syntakt and use Digitakt to take those samples in completely different territories yes. Which is also great, but it's not the same as operating syntakt. Both are equally interesting to me. To say syntakt is pretty much useless because Digitakt can do it all is a bit misleading and imho completely untrue :).
@@Davemech makes sense, thanks for taking the time to clarify this, my point is mainly questioning the need to have a Syntakt for someone who already have a Digitakt, it is moslty the same Elektron workflow in both machines + the synth engies in Syntakt, if for example I want to add Synth to my DT I can plug a Microfreak or any other Synth in the MIDI track and call it a day, 999$ is a bit overpriced for what it does, this is only my optionion, I'm maybe wrong and sure you know better.
just no. this machine is total different to the digitakt. i have both. same workflow dosnt mean the same conception.
