I commend the empress dowager cause she came a long way and evolved her feelings to ruyi, she started off hating her because of her aunt, but after she saved her from assassination and saw her behavior as not starting trouble or looking for power. She saw the good in her that brought the admiration, and basically gave the emperor a soft open mouth insert foot as she laid it out for him the truth of Ruyi’s character and all she wanted to do in life.

I agree. I don’t understand how the Emperor failed to see that .. how he was in lust with worthless women , that were the very things he feared . But treated loving women to him. So terrible
@@Skydancer263 indeed. It's funny because the first Empress was handpicked by the Empress Dowager. Yet, once she started needing her daughter-in-laws help (for example with the issue of marrying the princess away), the Empress Fucha threw the Dowager under the bus and it was Ruyi who came up with a plan that solved the issue. And later it was Ruyi's foster son who continuously tried to help his Aunt Princess Henchou, facing the Empreror's distaste in order to help the Dowager - which I think really cemented the respect she had for Ruyi.
@@Dianuxkasfenix Absolutely, If men would just admit, it takes a woman's handling of matters to make them look good, the world would move at an even keel.
Rongpei stayed by Ruyi's side til the end. She was a best friend and served Ruyi well. This show made me cry often. Also the Emperor should have protected Ruyi and loved her but instead he always punished her and pushed her aside.

One of the greatest character developments in the series was definitely the Empress Dowager. I love how she came to respect Ruyi. She saw that Ruyi never cared about power and status, and all she wanted was to be with the one she loves. Sadly, thanks to Qianlong's stupidity, all that love vanished and went down the drain.
The least he could do is go apologizing to her. He needs to put aside his status as an emperor and talk to her as a husband and wife should. But sadly, he won't
That’s the thing he did go to see her and did a poor ass excuse of an apology..or rather he didn’t, he basically told her: yeah you were accused wrongly and I made quick judgment but let’s let bygones be bygones and go back to how it was In other words he wanted her to just brush everything off as it was in the past and start fresh new. But Ruyi in her own way told him no and that what they had was done
The actors make this story come alive. Not a false step from any one from the smallest to the largest roles. Every thing about the series is perfection.

Knowing how Empress Dowager was before she became so bitter after all the attacks she got. I truly believe that her and Ruyi would've been the best of friends. I feel like Ruyi brought back a part of the old Zen.
太后看清一切，當初阻擋立她為嫡福晉，就是知道如懿個性跟所求跟剛進宮的自己太像，有一天會因為個性跟夫君離心。既然已經離心，當不當這個皇后對如懿來說，已經沒有任何意義，眼下對她來說，永璂的平安才是最重要的
其实如懿做为皇后真的很当之无愧，因为曾经救了皇太后的命又能替皇帝說服璟瑟愿意和亲，上下也用德行感化与包容后宫的嬪妃们，处处为他人怍想，连宫里的侍卫侍女太监都对如懿敬畏，所以当她失寵时，無论如何
大家都愿意为她出生入死 ! 真是一位合格的皇后 !
