Cato's Bridge, Best Snorkeling Spot in Jupiter Florida?

  • One of my favorite snorkel spots in Jupiter Florida. If you hit it right, you can see a wide variety of fish with crystal clear waters.
Timing is somewhat key snorkeling here with the tides. The waters will move fast on the moving tides and with the influence of the Loxahatchee river, it can make this spot cloudy and hard to see. The best time to snorkel this spot is on the 3 hours after the start of the incoming tide until about an hour after the high tide. If you can hit it at the peak of high tide, the water will be clear with minimal current. Once the tide starts moving out, the water will start to get murky, but it takes a while for the outgoing murky waters of the Loxahatchee to impact this area, so you can have clear water for a good hour or two past the high tide. This is not a good beginner snorkeling spot as the tides do move fast. Subscribe for more future videos on other spots throughout Jupiter to snorkel.

That's cool. I never thought about snorkeling there. Is that on the East or West side of the bridge?

David Lorenzo west side. Easy access for walking in there and there is a path going down on the side of the bridge. The other side you can snorkel but really need to access by boat and anchor at the sandbar to the north of the bridge

When is best time to snorkel the bridge high tide or low

Towards the high tide is generally better, but be sure the tide is coming in. Once it shifts to an outgoing tide the visibility will slowly drop

I would think high tide is universally the best time to snorkel anywhere u go. Clearest water and more fish. Incoming tide brings water from the ocean and outgoing means water from a bay, river, etc. Maybe it's different if u dive offshore?

On the west side of the bridge, there are parking spots for maybe about 10 cars. If those are full, there are a couple parking lots for the lighthouse trails on that stretch of road from US 1 to the bridge and you can park in those and walk from there.
