The fact that RUclips is so strict when it comes to swearing and certain content that may seem harmless to us can get demonetized, yet they let these bots and comments continue to be a problem.
The porn bots stealing other people's comments to this degree and getting away with it when major content creators have to tiptoe around arcane content restrictions is WILD. I'd be so aggravated if I was trying to meaningfully interact with my legitimate audience through this shit blizzard.
The spam comments about Jack's dad struck me, especially to how composed and calm he kept with the news of Jack's dad last year. Keep strong Jack, we'll all get through this turmoil together.
It's exclusive to his channel too. I haven't seen them saying those things on other channels who've lost someone. But I used to see comments about Jack on other channels.
@@Rabbit-the-One I've seen ones about Markiplier's niece here and there. Worst part is some accounts also upload videos with those titles or link a playlist from a main account with those videos. I've tried reporting the accounts and videos, but it honestly seems pointless

Jack is the most genuine wholesome content creator since 2010 and to think people would have slight sympathy because everybody has once lost somebody close to them but sadly this world is filled with garbage human beings who use tragic losses into insults and shitty jokes. It's disgusting. I lost three family members that I was close with in the last three years and I swear if anybody did this to me I would've had a hard time restraining myself.

It really sucks for genuine fans who have to be hesitant to comment on their favourite creator’s videos only to have bots comment these nsfw accounts, scams, or hate bots reply and just ruin the whole experience of just supporting people.

RUclips has a massive bot problem, not just in comment sections but livestreams too, I have no idea how they managed to get so rampant without RUclips doing something about it. Really messes with the website
I sent this video to RUclips headquarters hopefully they listen to it help connect creator but right RUclips is in money making so if and idea doesn't make money then they won't listen to you
It's really unbelievable that these kinds of things are happening. This also is a major problem because creators should be able to see true comments of there followers and not some bot/scam/or hate bots. Thank you for opening up my eyes since I really didn't know this was happening in the comments I don't really check them or comment in videos.

If I recall correctly, Linus Tech Tips had a way to get rid of all comments like this using some software that some dude made, could be worth checking out.
And now, a FULL YEAR after this video was made, it's just gotten worse. I sometimes just see full-on nudity with the pfp of the bots. Oh, and I don't think RUclips has addressed it STILL.
They removed the dislike button to "stop negativity and protect people", but they won't do shit about bot scam spam or the horrible comments about Jack's dad. Shame on you, RUclips.
We have different types of spam comments on our channel (as well as many of the same inappropriate ones you have pointed out). Some people bot song requests and likes (evident by the time posted and the consistent number of likes on requests that are patently obscure/unpopular). It's annoying because we used to be able to gauge what people wanted to hear from the comments, but we no longer can because of the spam. We even tried making some of the requests to see if there really was that much interest in some of these tracks... ...there was not. All the best man.
Couldn’t agree more. RUclips has an unacceptable double standard, even when it comes to ads, the amount of scantily clad ads etc on the same supposedly ‘kid friendly’ site.

I remember I commented on a video and 3 seconds later, every comment had 3/4 bot comments replying to them. And I tried reporting them and refreshing the comments didn't work. (Back to when you could refresh comments on mobile. ) It used to let me do that and they wouldn't appear again.

When jack actually read the offensive comments against his dad out loud at first I felt bad and thought "oh you don't need to read those out loud. I wouldn't want to read a horrible comment directed to me. Especially out loud", but then I realized that what jack is doing is actually really good. He's not trying to hide anything. He's openly addressing the problem. Not only do people need to know about this but they also need to hear how disgusting it is to motivate us to take action

It's not even just for Jack's dad, either. I saw it with comments about Markiplier's niece too. I can't remember if those started before the bots making the comments about Jack's dad or if it was at the same time, but it's still just fucking awful. The fact that someone had the idea to make a bot that comments things like that is shitty enough, but the fact that RUclips essentially does nothing about it is fucking stupid.
Finally someone's talking about this in a video. I have been noticing this and other similar bot-related issues on this platform for a really long time and try to report as many as possible but I know it hardly makes any difference. Until RUclips decides to install better moderation features to remove the obvious bots, there isn't much we can do other than report as many as possible. As for those who comment with the sole purpose to divert viewers to their channels, they genuinely annoy me a lot because it's pretty clear that they bought subscribers when you check their upload history and the type of "content" that they upload. I love checking out smaller creators from time to time to support those who put hours into videos for little to no viewer retention and these people come along with their fat stacks, buy subscribers and then climb comment sections with the same comment posted over and over again. Most of the time they don't even bother watching the video. It's good that most people on RUclips however realize this and try to avoid such channels. As long the majority stays sane, RUclips will be alright.

The second Jack mentioned about someone commenting on his Dad that was where I knew the breaking point happened. It’s honestly sad how RUclips once use to put passion for what they created and now it’s like they just have no idea what is happening.
It made me sad the more he said it , the more it hurt me , even though he is not affected by reading it , but it hurt me alot and I know it hurts many others as well

There is honestly a line between trollling and taking it too far, and not only they have crossed the line, but they have taken a Boeing 777 and flown 1000 square miles away.
It is so nice to see someone finally speaking about this, it's such a disappointment to try to interact and engage with the community and every single time you just have to sort through so many bots/spam troll accounts. While I do hope they fix this soon somehow, I think you could add moderators to the channel, I have no idea if you already did that, but having some people taking care of the comments or at least taking a look at them after a couple hours the video was uploaded could really help!

Yeah this is a fair video to make. I feel very bad for all the huge creators that have to deal with all these annoying comments, and just wanna interact with the community -- and just get spam and bots. I hope RUclips does do something to fix this eventually.
The comments that really get under my skin are the ones from verified creators where they’ve come to the video and just robbed another comment I’ve taken to just banning them but it’s so frustrating

Honestly, Jack saying that the comments about his father didn't really bother him, he knew it was the internet, and it was just annoying was one of the most bad ass things I could've heard today.

I have been seeing these porn bots every where on youtube comment sections and i can't agree more. How can they enforce all these strict child friendly rules on the content creators when bots can freely spam such vulgar stuff on your videos. And you are spot on when it comes to fans commenting on you videos, I know you won't see our comments because it gets buried under all this bullshit.
Spammers/bots don't have a platform to reach a larger targeted audience over a content creator, who's in direct communication with their audience. RUclips will have many detectable scripts/programs in place to catch a large majority of these bots. But just like most things, there's going to be those that slip through the cracks. Just as with games that will always have bugs and cheaters.
@@ZeonEons that's very true, but RUclips doesn't seem to care about having this be "a family friendly platform" (their justification for the restrictions on CCs) if their system is so lax that it could let things like this happen. Say what you want about Instagram, but they have a comment and post limit, and are pretty good about detecting and surpressing bots. YT is and has been a huge hypocrite, and it's very frustrating

RUclips will allow 1 person to have 7 different channels with half the content being on 3+ channels, spam videos for more revenue and "prank" videos about dressing up as a Muslim and throwing a backpack near people but won't allow you to swear in a video where you're playing a game about killing people.
yes, because they have a narrative to push. There are wealthy people who decided to "cause" the "end times" and i know how crazy that sounds but these are crazy people, and so youtube rewards bad influences and holds the good content creatures accountable to a T like Jack.
I can’t believe how calm and desensitized Jack is to this kind of stuff. Especially the stuff about his dad. A lot of people commment only to get likes so that they can feel good about themselves. There are no genuine comments anymore, only overused jokes and memes.
Belated Condolences, Jack. I lost my grandfather at nine, so I understand what it means to go through that sort of loss, even if only a grandparent and not a parent. Rubbing someone's loss in their face is nothing short of petty, and I have nothing but contempt for those who do it.

Fellow lurker here! I hardly ever comment either for similar reasons. Though I've been around this channel since the days Sean actually read and replied to nearly every comment, because back then he only had 1k or so comments to go through, and most of them were perfectly nice and wholesome. And man, were those the days. The comment section nowadays is a total sh*tshow, especially in the first couple hours, and it feels nearly impossible to wade through the crap in order to *potentially* get the *opportunity* to have your comment be read. Feels so disheartening for those of us that actually have something of substance to say.
It sucks that this has ruined Jack's experience of interacting with your audience and I really hope that RUclips does something to fix it. I always still leave comments anyway, just in case the creator does happen to look and needs some genuine comments to show how much their content is appreciated. The spam about Jack's dad is the only thing that really gets to me because it's straight up gross and the absolute worst part of the internet. Hopefully it reaches a point where he is able to go through and enjoy the feedback again, and gets to see that there are real fans still here who just want to let him know that his hard work is so appreciated!
yeah those types of comments are the only ones I go out of my way to report, if only so it blocks them from my view for a brief time as well. Even if Jack is fine with toughing it out he still shouldn't have to deal with it :/

RUclips has a track record of never addressing serious issues until they are borderline canceled for it, or a giant youtuber calls them out. That seems to work 25% of the time.
I've seen the comments everywhere it's honestly getting stupid and RUclips should do something about this. It's sickening that people think it's OK to talk about Jack's dad. As someone who lost their dad, seeing something like that would infuriate and hurt me. I'm so sorry you are going through this. I've had many porn bots respond to comments I've made. I report that shit and I will continue to do so, if it protects our content creators and CHILDREN that might see it.
tbh those are bots, created by people who don't give a shit about Jack other than he's good for exposure (popular video -> top comments -> reply = high chance to get noticed by everyone) and clickbait. They're either out to directly ruin the community, or to attract at least some people to go click on their porn websites or whatever... You know, I think they're mostly there to make a point about how shit the RUclips system is, and also just to harass the top creators.
It’s much worser when it gets repeated among other platforms as well, it’s the worst offender and something needs to be reworked about the way RUclips is handling the system in general. But, it’s not just RUclips, it’s the entire social media platform system that need a change to address the problem. Sooner or later, it needs to happen or content is just not fun anymore

I've had a reply from jack before, and something about the idea of a creator wanting to engage personally like that changes the feel of content. seeing the way people use that part of the platform to disrespect and hurt him genuinely makes me sick to my stomach and while i'm glad he's taken the time to talk about the impact that part of the platform has but i hate that this video ever had to me made
I've experienced the same thing several years ago where Jack commented on me and then about 18 other people (bots and not, also this was like 2019) saw he had replied to someone and started spamming MY comment with their things saying their content was better, that its so cool to see him interact with fans. Like yeah I get that its awesome but spamming won't do anything. I wish none of this happened and we could all actually be supportive of each other.

Honestly RUclips started going downhill when Pepsi and a couple of other advertisers threatened to pull out of RUclips unless RUclips meet their demands and despite RUclips getting on their knees and getting ready to throat them. They pulled out any way. All that did was signify RUclips was weak to the whims of their advertisers and the remaining advertisers took full advantage of that and new advertisers took advantage to do what they wanted. That is the starting point to all of this so fuck pepsi.
I had about 17,000 pending "held in review" comments and a lot of them were bots (before YT started auto-purging held comments). It seems that a channel's size definitely depicts the types of bots that appear. Channels under 1M seem to get hit with similar kinds of bots, which are the ones you described with the uh, 'questionable' profile pics. I was able to remove about 99% of the bots on my channel but that's only because they all have similar elements to them and I figured out a combination of filters that worked. Being at your size though, I honestly don't know what can be done because the bots seem to evolve for the top channels but then they trickle down in different waves to smaller ones. I don't think it'd be hard to run a conditional branch for newly created accounts to check to see how often they are posting and if it is all the same post across different channels. Or to see if it is a new account + copying an existing comment. At that point their system should shadow ban the user to see if the comments persist. The problem is that bots post on all sorts of channels but each channel has to defend itself in different ways. I came from moistcritikal his video and I have been commenting for over 10 years now and grew my channel from my playlist and some viral memes, now I get flamed by people for just leaving a comment that I've been doing for years and years just because these verified channels ruin it for others. its kinda sad how much power they have by doing it and I barely comment on big channels anymore because of that.

I've been reporting them too, and it was nice to hear that after a while those comments are deleted, but there needs to be a better solution to this problem and youtube needs to do something about it. Yet they still seem to care anytime any RUclipsrs with sizeable communities make minor indiscretions and are quick to ban and channel strike whoever they see fit even when it doesn't make sense. RUclips was giving out strikes for people showing a clearly faked and staged road rage incident filmed via dash cam but it took them actual years to ban channels like Peluchin Entertainment who would literally murder his cats and post the videos of him doing it. And now he has multiple channels and RUclips has not blocked his influence in any way although he no longer uploads those horrendous videos he was banned for a reason and they should take action against him for committing literal fucking crimes and showing people.
So true! We have 2M subs and I still try to spend an hour after upload reading and replying to as many comments as I can. I've blocked so many bot and spam accounts, bot sentences and certain words, but they're constantly making new ones with small variations on their account names. Some really innocent comments will end up in the spam tab while far too many things get through the filter that really shouldn't!

We have different types of spam comments on our channel (as well as many of the same inappropriate ones you have pointed out). Some people bot song requests and likes (evident by the time posted and the consistent number of likes on requests that are patently obscure/unpopular). It's annoying because we used to be able to gauge what people wanted to hear from the comments, but we no longer can because of the spam. We even tried making some of the requests to see if there really was that much interest in some of these tracks... ...there was not. All the best man.

I remember I commented on a video and 3 seconds later, every comment had 3/4 bot comments replying to them. And I tried reporting them and refreshing the comments didn't work. (Back to when you could refresh comments on mobile. ) It used to let me do that and they wouldn't appear again.

Finally someone's talking about this in a video. I have been noticing this and other similar bot-related issues on this platform for a really long time and try to report as many as possible but I know it hardly makes any difference. Until RUclips decides to install better moderation features to remove the obvious bots, there isn't much we can do other than report as many as possible.
As for those who comment with the sole purpose to divert viewers to their channels, they genuinely annoy me a lot because it's pretty clear that they bought subscribers when you check their upload history and the type of "content" that they upload. I love checking out smaller creators from time to time to support those who put hours into videos for little to no viewer retention and these people come along with their fat stacks, buy subscribers and then climb comment sections with the same comment posted over and over again. Most of the time they don't even bother watching the video.
It's good that most people on RUclips however realize this and try to avoid such channels. As long the majority stays sane, RUclips will be alright.

It is so nice to see someone finally speaking about this, it's such a disappointment to try to interact and engage with the community and every single time you just have to sort through so many bots/spam troll accounts. While I do hope they fix this soon somehow, I think you could add moderators to the channel, I have no idea if you already did that, but having some people taking care of the comments or at least taking a look at them after a couple hours the video was uploaded could really help!

Spammers/bots don't have a platform to reach a larger targeted audience over a content creator, who's in direct communication with their audience. RUclips will have many detectable scripts/programs in place to catch a large majority of these bots. But just like most things, there's going to be those that slip through the cracks. Just as with games that will always have bugs and cheaters.
@@ZeonEons that's very true, but RUclips doesn't seem to care about having this be "a family friendly platform" (their justification for the restrictions on CCs) if their system is so lax that it could let things like this happen. Say what you want about Instagram, but they have a comment and post limit, and are pretty good about detecting and surpressing bots. YT is and has been a huge hypocrite, and it's very frustrating

I can’t believe how calm and desensitized Jack is to this kind of stuff. Especially the stuff about his dad. I hardly ever comment either for similar reasons. Though I've been around this channel since the days Sean actually read and replied to nearly every comment, because back then he only had 1k or so comments to go through, and most of them were perfectly nice and wholesome. And man, were those the days. The comment section nowadays is a total sh*tshow, especially in the first couple hours, and it feels nearly impossible to wade through the crap in order to *potentially* get the *opportunity* to have your comment be read.
Feels so disheartening for those of us that actually have something of substance to say.

It sucks that this has ruined Jack's experience of interacting with your audience and I really hope that RUclips does something to fix it. The spam about Jack's dad is the only thing that really gets to me because it's straight up gross and the absolute worst part of the internet. Hopefully it reaches a point where he is able to go through and enjoy the feedback again, and gets to see that there are real fans still here who just want to let him know that his hard work is so appreciated!

I've experienced the same thing several years ago where Jack commented on me and then about 18 other people (bots and not, also this was like 2019) saw he had replied to someone and started spamming MY comment with their things saying their content was better, that its so cool to see him interact with fans. Honestly RUclips started going downhill when Pepsi and a couple of other advertisers threatened to pull out of RUclips unless RUclips meet their demands and despite RUclips getting on their knees and getting ready to throat them. They pulled out any way. All that did was signify RUclips was weak to the whims of their advertisers and the remaining advertisers took full advantage of that and new advertisers took advantage to do what they wanted. That is the starting point to all of this so fuck pepsi.
I had about 17,000 pending "held in review" comments and a lot of them were bots (before YT started auto-purging held comments). It seems that a channel's size definitely depicts the types of bots that appear. Channels under 1M seem to get hit with similar kinds of bots, which are the ones you described with the uh, 'questionable' profile pics. I was able to remove about 99% of the bots on my channel but that's only because they all have similar elements to them and I figured out a combination of filters that worked. Being at your size though, I honestly don't know what can be done because the bots seem to evolve for the top channels but then they trickle down in different waves to smaller ones. I don't think it'd be hard to run a conditional branch for newly created accounts to check to see how often they are posting and if it is all the same post across different channels. Or to see if it is a new account + copying an existing comment. At that point their system should shadow ban the user to see if the comments persist. The problem is that bots post on all sorts of channels but each channel has to defend itself in different ways. If RUclips put the restrictions on the account itself by its own shady actions, then a lot less headache would be passed on to the creators to deal with.

Would be nice if they would implement some kind of connection ban for consistent IPs and stuff. Like if it's some kid thinking he's cool creating bot messages harassing someone and making fun of their dead dad then permaban his hardware.

I won't deny RUclips needs more security, but when prevention evolves, so does the threat.
How should this even be possible? Not only youtube has this problem. Roblox has it too and I don`t even know if that /e free comments are from real people or if it is just a bunch of bots repeading the same words. Not to mention that they put you in groups to scam you (if this happens, scroll down and leave immeditly if you relice that it`s fake)

Personally I kinda like comments and I think Jack likes us being able to discuss the videos, so it's better for him to just ignore it.
I came from moistcritikal his video and I have been commenting for over 10 years now and grew my channel from my playlist and some viral memes, now I get flamed by people for just leaving a comment that I've been doing for years and years just because these verified channels ruin it for others. its kinda sad how much power they have by doing it and I barely comment on big channels anymore because of that.

The problem is RUclips dosent want to invest any money at all in stopping them. RUclips absolutely could stop them but there's really no incentive for them to.
Can't they be sued for negligence? A lot of people may fall victim.
@@Monster33336 One question, do you have loose screws, sueing RUclips is like sueing Google, even if you make it to court, you would need to find an attorney to rep you which would be a miracle on it own. Hell most probably won't rep you unless you have a shit ton of money like 25k minimum. Not to mention Google can easily send an army of attorneys to defend RUclips.
I'm so glad someone is talking about this, the amount of bots I've called out and reported over the years, (especially the pornographic ones) and they never seem to go away!

I've been reporting them too, and it was nice to hear that after a while those comments are deleted, but there needs to be a better solution to this problem and youtube needs to do something about it. Especially if youtube can have it where it automatically deletes accounts that are spamming the same thing.

I love to read comments on a video I've enjoyed especially a funny one because the comment section can be so funny sometimes. When I find a good comment and I look under the replys I'm just automatically disappointed it's really upsetting that these bots are literally just ruining the experience of the comment section

lets be real, RUclips doesn't even care at this point and haven't cared for years. they are so incredibly disconnected to their users and i doubt they'lll do anything to fix their site. its disappointing honestly but its just how big companies are sometimes. i wish at least if they saw alot of other people make big enough backlash that they'd do something

Yet they still seem to care anytime any RUclipsrs with sizeable communities make minor indiscretions and are quick to ban and channel strike whoever they see fit even when it doesn't make sense. RUclips was giving out strikes for people showing a clearly faked and staged road rage incident filmed via dash cam but it took them actual years to ban channels like Peluchin Entertainment who would literally murder his cats and post the videos of him doing it. And now he has multiple channels and RUclips has not blocked his influence in any way although he no longer uploads those horrendous videos he was banned for a reason and they should take action against him for committing literal fucking crimes and showing people.
So true! We have 2M subs and I still try to spend an hour after upload reading and replying to as many comments as I can. I've blocked so many bot and spam accounts, bot sentences and certain words, but they're constantly making new ones with small variations on their account names. Some really innocent comments will end up in the spam tab while far too many things get through the filter that really shouldn't!

The fact that I have a SMALL channel and I still deal with bots... means there is obviously an issue that RUclips needs to address. They want to censor us as to what we can say but they don't do anything about sex bots in the comments sections. It's really getting out of hand tbh.
