So when you use other people's work that they've created with THEIR talent and THEIR brain, imagination, you at least have to have some decency to pay respect to that person and give them the credit they DESERVE. He did a lot for his art, was in labour camps for his views in the soviet era, had to work in a country with severe censorship. And, most importantly, he did a lot for his people and has a tremendous legacy around the globe. This lady is now earning money off of HIS hard work and talent. It takes literally 2 braincells to steal other's work. But the gag is...you need to have some smarts to pull that off too, whuch is not the case in the video above. Don't make mockery of other ethnicities' culture and legacy. And sure as hell - don't make money off of that. Give people the credit that they deserve. Create your own, don't steal other's. Tip of the day: Hold your "idols" accountable and don't normalise this type of shitty behavior. Peace
Jane Kelly I understand what you're saying, but this video is very clearly not to "mock" Armenian culture. This is a love letter of references to a beautiful movie. There's a difference, and you fail to grasp that.
When you struggle with trauma, your mind goes off and disconnects from reality, “reality and dreams can interconnect”. Her mind tries to creat a “ happier” place even though she had the accident, ex. Apples - blood, that guy at the beginning on the pillow actually crashed, etc. I think that’s all about and reminds me a little Marry the night music video intro: “It’s sort of like my past is an unfinished painting and as the artist of that painting I must fill in all the ugly holes, and make it beautiful again.”
That millisecond when they show that she was resuscitated for the first time at 2:17, where she symbolically gets pulled to the ground. Literally a split second. Blows my mind
I was dumb that I didn't get this at first but came back because I realized what that actually is. And my fault I read this first before finishing as I was so confused with the video. Regardless, this video is amazing!
Yes this video has aesthetic influences: "The Color of pomegranates" and "Alejandro Jodorowsky" BUT don't forget that the song is about depression and antipsychotics that she uses. I believe that this "strange world" (aesthetically influenced by the movies cited) is THE MENTAL STATE where she is when she has a crisis. This crisis is interrupted when she uses the antipsychotics and goes back to the real world The antipsychotics are quoted in the song called "dolls" ("Keep my dolls inside diamond boxes") and in the video we have a part where she holds a purse in one hand and in the other she holds a doll = antipsychotic.
This MV reminds me of paintings of Remedios Varo and Roberto Montenegro - surrealist painters who like putting ordinary things in awkward places to provoke their audience’ feelings. This video is uncanny yet so addicting, like your psyche will prevent you from repeating it but your human nature to satisfy your curiosity will make you repeat this video.
I remember reading an article in 2009 (in a paper magazine!), shortly after Bad Romance was released. "The art of music video is dead", claimed the author. I'm watching this video almost 15 years later. I wish I could show this one to whoever wrote that article & watch their face
"It's not that I don't want to remember things as they happened, it's just that I'd like to remember them in a more artistic way..." Lady Gaga, Marry The Night
i loved this era so much🩷⚔️ it saved my mind during the pandemic fr!! i think she worked so hard with the wind against her and she did it for all of us, and for herself. that's brave af♡
A bop about a psychotic break, this is beautiful. (Not trying time say having a psychotic break is beautiful, just coming back after one and having the courage to write an upbeat song about it is)
“When I look back in my life it’s not that I don’t want see things exactly as they happened. It’s just that I prefer to remember them in an artistic way.”
That dog looks like he's having the time of his life!! This should be a one-time thing though. ruclips.net/video/669AWTvjnMM/видео.html&ab_channel=AnimalsGlobal
Okay but when Gaga starts floating to heaven, the rose she's holding still looks fresh, and when Mr. Hot-ass Medic started pulling her down, the rose started withering. DETAILS DAMMIT.
The rose is fresh because she is going to feel no more pain and being blessed, but when she is pulled back to life she starts feeling the pain of injuries again, so the rose starts withering
So many references! "The Color of Pomegranate” by the armenian movie director Paradjanov," El Topo" and "The Holy Mountain" by Alejandro Jodorowsky, "8 1/2" by Fellini and of course Tarsem Singh's own "The Fall"! :)
2:53 One interesting new things noticed that I haven't heard a lot of people mention is: When she's dressed in yellow and the man puts his hand on her chest representing CPR, he also have "XXX" ring. XXX in Roman numerals is 30, which is exact number of chest compression you are supposed to give in CPR. (30 compression +2 rescues breaths then repeat the cycle)
Hi I’m learning some of her songs 🎶❤️🥰 she is my inspiration and why I never gave up please tell me your option on this ruclips.net/video/V6DJ-ksdo7M/видео.html I love her and I want to meet her :)
“When i look back on my life, it’s not that i don’t want to see things exactly as they happened. It’s just that i prefer to remember them in an artistic way...”-Lady Gaga (Marry the Night, 2011). I don’t know why, but i feel like the concept of this film is giving me that vibe from her interlude on Marry the Night music video.
"911 might be one of the greatest songs that ever written. I just think that Lady Gaga is a pure genius and all of the her videos are timeless." - Albert Einstein via Ouija board
I think this will be a storyline because at the end that is the transition to Sine From Above which is a duet of Lady Gaga and Elton John. I think Elton John will be the doctor lol since Gaga had an accident in this MV.
央礼 Does Stupid Love and Rain On Me connected to 911 tho cause Lady Gaga is in her Chromatica world or something in pervious two m/v but now she just having accident in somewhere else.
Si_ Mutifandom I think not... because Stupid Love and Rain On Me is more on love expression while 911 is like about mental health and Sine From Above is also about coping mental health.
JESUS CHRIST GAGA! The amount of references in the video to the end is insane! I’m gonna list all the ones I noticed, I’m sure I missed plenty. 0:27 here the anklet is representing her wounded/bleeding ankle while also showing the bike. 0:46 the person banging their head on a pillow is actually an airbag 0:55 I don’t know if this outfit is representative of a neck brace but it looks like that to me. 1:07 this is the person in the street cradling on of the deceased victims 1:15 these are the bystanders as evidenced by the “selfie stick” shown here 1:19 1:18 here are two of the biggest! The two paramedics. And the Red Cross on the white outfit is obviously the Red Cross, but it doesn’t even register on your first watch 1:34 here the paramedic is covering the victim in a blanket 1:55 this is the other paramedic putting on this persons oxygen mask 2:11 the mirror here is the flashlight they shine in her eyes while over her 2:14 here’s a GREAT one! Here they pull her down which is them literally resuscitating her and you can see for a split second her in the real world here 2:17 (This one is thanks to another comment here) 2:26 the tourniquet is applied here 2:34 ooh and this is the person fixing the movie theater sign, and the rose petals are the sparks! 2:35 these people in blue costumes represent police officers controlling the crowd 2:39 the people wearing yellow with the red symbols represent the firefighters 2:46 this is obviously just an actual depiction of the whole crash 3:02 yellow police tape in the background 3:07 and lastly here is the stretcher! 3:17 and then these are obviously the defibrillator paddles and all of the people at the scene. Feel totally free to tell me ones I missed
At 2:30 I think it may imply he opened his mouth to give CPR, since he turns towards her right after she moves her hand away from her mouth (which could represent the bagging they do sometimes when alternating CPR). What do you think?
@@UndressingAndUnlearningthat is a good idea, and I was wondering what the mouth opening was about, however at the end she doesn’t have a bag on her face at the end (but that could have been so she can talk to the camera?)
@@dharrison6504 That would still make sense though! When they shock they "clear" so no one is in contact with the person, so she wouldn't be being bagged at that moment. I took it symbolizing the work they were doing before the final shock as there's a rotation of techniques used to get oxygen in the patient's system when they are out. Thanks for posting the list by the way, so fun to decipher!

Yo I adore chromatica 2/911 n I was hoping for a visual to it n here it is. Ima a lil monster n she went to another place with it. Phenomenal n visually stunning!!!
Got me laugh for 5minutes, oh btw the last video I think she was sponsored by iPhone, and now LG 😂 while LG just saying life is good after all the accident, the heck 😂
@mushroom girly :D for sure 😂 its like no matter how hard or how difficult the problems is, if you face it, deal with it, life will be good.. LG life is good 😂
This video was inspired by the Armenian film from the late 60s, called The Colour of Pomegranates, which is depicted in this video, in the cinema hall scene in the latter part of this song.
I saw the movie before the video came out and the first time I watched this i went full snob saying "oh she just did colour of pomegranates", then the ending hit me like a truck. This is one of the most clever ways I've seen someone remaking and/or referencing another work of art to say something else.
@Geoffry room 3:00 WORD IN THE BACKGROUND IN ARMENIAN "Զգուշություն" MEANS CAUTION💖ALSO AT 4:09 ARMENIAN FILM FESTIVAL SO THIS ALL MEANS THAT THIS MV INSPIRED BY THE ARMENIAN FILM "The Color of Pomegranates" YOU CAN ALSO SEE GRENADES IN THE BEGINNING SO "The Color of Pomegranates" BEGINS WITH GRENADES TOO🇦🇲💖
2:17 when she pulled down THATS THE FIRST ATTEMPT TO BRING HER BACK! you can see her on the stretcher! Slow it down frame by frame! im done with her! Genious
How did this woman come up with the concept for this video? Lady Gaga is from another galaxy, 5000 years from now, and came to Earth to show how real art looks like
I love that the video had to have an ad because it was being sponsored, but the ad was literally incorporated into the story of the video. Like, LG's slogan "Life's Good" appearing literally stands in contrast to the video's story, and offers a dark irony to it. The way the advert was incorporated into the concept of the video, instead of just being a random ad, was simply brilliant.
You mean Gaga: “How many hidden meanings do you intend to put in the video?” Director (Tarsem Singh): “Yes” It’s his concept, story and style Look it up. Get educated.
This video is about Semiramis,a queen raised by doves in a desert, and (according to Hislop) the wh**e of Babylon. We can also see in her the "tower-bearing" goddess, deity of fortifications, today known as "lady liberty" in the new Babylon, NY City. Semiramis also waged war against Armenia to bring her husband back.
@@indigochild3700 well technically it’s supposed to be showing the contrast, of how she feels when she’s on her meds “oh life is good” and when she isn’t on her meds she feels like she isn’t good enough. (ik you’re gonna get annoyed with me being technical lmao)
When I was first suffering from deep depression from the passing of a friend I turned to art house and exploitation films. They gave me light and comfort, despite a lot of their contasting images. The film she based this on was the work of art I leaned to the most. So when this dropped and the pomegranate was revealed, it clicked what it was going to be I practically bawled.
I understood the reference, because I suffered from panic-psychotic disorder and I am taking treatment and antidepressant ... this video implies that 911 refers to a medicine that brings us back to reality. AND the symptoms of this disorder are compared to those of a car accident. . Bravo Gaga because everything you do is ART ♡. The mind is very powerful. And when it is against us, it causes reality to distort, negative thoughts invade and create mental exaggerations that drive us crazy. that's why the entire video is strange, until 911 brings her back to reality.
I thought it was about depression caused by her desperation for fame before her fame album, a mundane reality she wants to escape with fantasy by drug addiction pulls her back down to reality by the dangerous consequences drug addiction brings.
*Gaga inspired me a lot!!* My mom said that if I got 1k likes on my premiere song!! she will definitely buy me a professional mic!! *Begging you* *begging on my knees*

Shocking and heartbreakin. In her vulnerability lies her power. A FULL CIRCLE: Now we understand her younger self, now we understand her present self. This is what trauma can do to us. Transforming pain into poetry is what helps us survive. I love you, Lady Gaga.
For everyone who didn't understand the video: 1) Black Horseman in a White Desert - This signifies the poster for New Mexico Gaga saw before the accident. He may also signify Death or her body luring her deeper in her mind. 2) The Red Mask - This is the blood from the accident. 3) Bike with Pomegranates - The first real element in Gaga's vision. Most probably the victim of the collision. Pomegranates simultaneously signify life and death. 4) The Red Anklet - Gaga's broken foot in real life. 5) Walking to the White Chapel - This is the movie poster Gaga saw. This can also signify the deepest recesses of her mind, protecting her from trauma. 6) Pillow Man - Another victim of the accident who crashed on his steering wheel. 7) Black Girl in Blue - The first spectator to the accident. Most likely the one who called 911. 8) Two Yellow Men Holding a Door - These are two firemen holding the car door to get Gaga out of the mangled vehicle. Their hats have '911' written on them in roman numerals. The yellow men were blindfolded because the firemen wore black goggles. 9) Woman Holding a White Body - A woman holding a victim who got hit by the car. The white body even has red lace signifying blood. 10) Additional Three People in Blue - Additional spectators filming the whole thing. 11) Yellow Man Mixing a Cauldron - This is a fireman and a smoking car wreckage. 12) The Latin Guy in Black and the Black Mary in White - These are the paramedics trying to save Gaga's life. 13) The Spinning Umbrella - The paramedics descending via a helicopter. 14) The Purse with the Picture of the Doll - This signifies the pills that would have made her stable. Did she cause the accident? 15) The Latin Guy Strangling the White Mummy - The paramedic was checking for a pulse. 16) The Black Mary Covering the Pillow Man with a Sheet - This was the paramedic covering the victim with a thermal blanket. 17) A Man with Dog Ears whose Face is Being Covered by the Latin Man - The paramedic giving oxygen to one of the victims. 18) The Black Mary Flashing a Mirror on Gaga - The paramedic was flashing her flashlight on Gaga's pupil's looking for consciousness. Gaga in the dreamscape is her consciousness. 19) Gaga Floating Away with a Rose - This signifies Gaga's consciousness/life leaving her body. She was even wearing a halo. 20) The Latin Guy Pulling Her with a Rope - The paramedic gave her CPR. You can even see a brief flash of the real world as she comes crashing down. 21) The Rope - It was the tourniquet used on Gaga's foot. 22) Latin and Gaga Mouth-to-Mouth Action - This was CPR, mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. 23) Yellow Man on Ladder Sprinkling Rose Petals - This is a fireman repairing the movie sign. The petals were sparks. 24) Men in Blue Masks - These are policemen. They even have the bird sign in their hats. 25) The Blue Streamers Waving in the Wind - This was the fire hydrant spewing water. 26) The Peacock - This represented Armenia in the Armenian Film Festival signage. 27) The Black Mary Holding a Snake - This is the snake in the cross logo of the paramedics. 28) Gaga in Yellow Spasming - This is Gaga's body rejecting the medication/treatment. 29) The Mural - This was the scene of what really happened. Gaga is now getting closer to surfacing to reality. 30) The Latin Guy Touching Her Heart Area - The paramedic giving her heart pumps and CPR. 31) Gaga in Black Floral Outfit - This is Gaga being put in a full-body brace. The curtain also might have fallen in the background to signify her impending death, the body bag. This is why, as a last-ditch effort, the paramedics used the defibrillator. 32) The Box - This is the defibrillator. 33) The Virgin Sacrifice - As dream world and real world collide, the vision concludes in a terrifying sacrificial scene as the pain comes rushing in. It's interesting that the knife that kills her in the dream world is the current of electricity that brings her to life in the real world. 34) 'I didn't have my pills!' - This suggests that she caused the accident because she wasn't stable because she did not have her medication. 35) LG Advertisement - 'Life is good.' Ironic, isn't it?1) Black Horseman in a White Desert - This signifies the poster for New Mexico Gaga saw before the accident. He may also signify Death or her body luring her deeper in her mind.
You are not even mentioning the biggest source of inspiration for this - Sergei Parajanov’s Colour of Pomegranates. He was a soviet Armenian director hence many visual references
1) Pop a 911 refers to Popping an anxiety pill that gets referred to as "911" 2) The song is an upbeat pop song about battling one's addiction to anxiety medication and trying to stabilize mental instability. I.e My biggest enemy is me, pop a 911. 3) This song video is a reference to an obscure Armenian film called The Colour of Pomegranates. Hence the Pomegranates and also a lot of symbolism match those found in that film. 4) They were not Mexican references but Armenian references. Hence why they flash a sign that says Armenian film festival. 5) The part where Gaga is in green and flying refers to when her life is leaving her body but the paramedic resuscitated her and brought her back down. That's why the halo on her head is not above her head because she's not left her body yet. The flower she carries as well as white and fresh when she floats but once she descends back, notice how it wilts. 6) The woman in the white garb with the long-haired man is the other medic on the accident site. Note the red cross symbol. And the snake in the universal logo for medicine is referenced constantly. 7) The end proves that Gaga perceives the world in a colorful and fantasy-based manner. That's why everything she saw before she became unconscious was interpreted by her mind the way we saw it. Another theory is that she perceived them that way because she was not on her pills. the pills "normalize" her so without the pills, everything is perceived by her is magical and artistic. 8) Also, in 2011, Gaga wore teal hair and said she wears teal when she wants to portray her fantasy side.and goes back to blonde when she's portraying reality. Notice how she's teal haired when she's in the fantasy dream in 911 but in the accident scene, she's blonde. 9) LG could be a sponsor but it's also what the fans call her. LG stands for Lifes good and for Lady Gaga. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk
This is one of Lady Gaga’s best videos and songs ever. Here is me obsessed with it still in 2024 and finding more and more layers in the symbolism. Has anyone picked up the reference to Carl Jung’ shadow work when she says my biggest enemy is me, and the whole flip from subconscious to conscious. I love this! ❤
Lady Gaga in this song is influenced by the Armenian director Paraganov's genius film " The Color Of A Pomegranate". The film is about the Armenian medieval poet, musician Sayat Nova's life and his poetry. Which was quite remarkable , painful and beautiful.
Not only. What about hidden messages about Armenian war with azerbaijan. 9/11 is the November 9 when the ceasefire was forced to prevent the Genocide of Armenians in Armenia and Artsakh enforced by azerbaijan and turkey.
this video literally deserved a “video of the year” and mostly “video for good” nomination at the VMAs... it’s the message and how she addresses how important mental health is but they don’t appreciate that

And sure as hell - don't make money off of that.
Give people the credit that they deserve.
Create your own, don't steal other's.
Tip of the day:
Hold your "idols" accountable and don't normalise this type of shitty behavior.

It also makes me tear up. No wonder she’s now an acclaimed actress.
That part got to me. She didn't want to die.
@@50ksubscriberschallenge19 what does acclaim mean
Yes this video has aesthetic influences: "The Color of pomegranates" and "Alejandro Jodorowsky" BUT don't forget that the song is about depression and antipsychotics that she uses. I believe that this "strange world" (aesthetically influenced by the movies cited) is THE MENTAL STATE where she is when she has a crisis. This crisis is interrupted when she uses the antipsychotics and goes back to the real world
The antipsychotics are quoted in the song called "dolls" ("Keep my dolls inside diamond boxes") and in the video we have a part where she holds a purse in one hand and in the other she holds a doll = antipsychotic.
so your point is that this video is a vma award winner right?

This MV reminds me of paintings of Remedios Varo and Roberto Montenegro - surrealist painters who like putting ordinary things in awkward places to provoke their audience’ feelings. 0:46 the person banging their head on a pillow is actually an airbag
0:55 I don’t know if this outfit is representative of a neck brace but it looks like that to me.
1:07 this is the person in the street cradling on of the deceased victims
1:15 these are the bystanders as evidenced by the “selfie stick” shown here 1:19
1:18 here are two of the biggest! The two paramedics. And the Red Cross on the white outfit is obviously the Red Cross, but it doesn’t even register on your first watch

1:55 this is the other paramedic putting on this persons oxygen mask
2:11 the mirror here is the flashlight they shine in her eyes while over her
2:14 here’s a GREAT one! Here they pull her down which is them literally resuscitating her and you can see for a split second her in the real world here 2:17 (This one is thanks to another comment here)
2:26 the tourniquet is applied here

2:35 these people in blue costumes represent police officers controlling the crowd
2:39 the people wearing yellow with the red symbols represent the firefighters
2:46 this is obviously just an actual depiction of the whole crash

3:07 and lastly here is the stretcher!

Lady Gaga: Suffering in pain
No one:
LG's Advertising: Life is good
The LG ad has a meaning too
While Gaga is crying, the screen reminded her that "LG (Lady Gaga) life is good"
@@arianaminaj5483 oh well wow, but..
LIfe' is good, you know what I mean?
@@9strumental can you elaborate?
For everyone who didn't understand the video:
1) Black Horseman in a White Desert - This signifies the poster for New Mexico Gaga saw before the accident.

L=Lady G=Gaga
@@arianajeong 🤯🤯
1) Pop a 911 refers to Popping an anxiety pill that gets referred to as "911"
2) The song is an upbeat pop song about battling one's addiction to anxiety medication and trying to stabilize mental instability.
This is awesome, thank you! 👍👍
thank you!
also after she floats up and comes crashing down we see her in the real world awakening for a split second
I was wondering what the references were. Thanks for breaking it down!
She is genius and brilliant idea. Love it

Lady Gaga, Life is Good ❤️😭
The best thing out of Chromatica era.
Lady Gaga in this song is influenced by the Armenian director Paraganov's genius film " The Color Of A Pomegranate". The film is about the Armenian medieval poet, musician Sayat Nova's life and his poetry.
Which was quite remarkable , painful and beautiful.
Thank you for sharing. I'm going to check that movie out!

Not only. What about hidden messages about Armenian war with azerbaijan. 9/11 is the November 9 when the ceasefire was forced to prevent the Genocide of Armenians in Armenia and Artsakh enforced by azerbaijan and turkey.
Don't forget El Topo from Jodorowsky
this video literally deserved a “video of the year” and mostly “video for good” nomination at the VMAs... it’s the message and how she addresses how important mental health is but they don’t appreciate that

Ohh i just love this comment
also that guy who hits his head on the pillow is the guy who died because he was repeatedly hitting his head on the wheel
The men holding the door in front of her in the beginning are the fire men moving the car door in the real world :O
"When I look back on my life it’s not that I don’t want to see things exactly as they happened, it’s just that I prefer to remember them in an artistic way. And truthfully the lie of it all is much more honest because I invented it. Clinical psychology tells us arguably that trauma is the ultimate killer. Memories are not recycled like atoms and particles in quantum physics. They can be lost forever. It’s sort of like my past is an unfinished painting and as the artist of that painting I must fill in all the ugly holes, and make it beautiful again. It’s not that I have been dishonest; it’s just that I loathe reality."
