    Maybe the radio silence might be a cultural difference in business models? I don't know if Asian companies have as much communication with players as western ones.
    I, myself, want to try Inzoi as is a fresh air from the American West Coast imaginery we have in Sims 4, Paralives and LBY

      @@SimmerErinI’m a little confused on why marketing to us matters compared to cultural differences? Wanting us to buy it still wouldn’t change the way business models work in Asia, and there may not be anyone from America or the UK on these teams, so this person could be right. Asian companies market to us all the time, but they never really change their business mottos to do it. Sort of like Sanrio, we don’t get a bunch of advertisements the way we would if it was American, but many of us still buy it. A mod for their discord server did say something about them creating socials, but I worry that they’ll never be as open and translucent as we’re used to, because we never see much about PUBG content either. (Hope that didn’t sound mean, I’m just genuinely confused on/curious about how these two things correlate.)

I know a lot of people don’t like ts4’s graphics but i think some level of style is needed, otherwise it’ll either end up uncanny or extremely dated as soon as technology improves and something else becomes even more realistic. Unlike in the west where it's market 1st delivery later. Face matters alot in Korea and a half baked product will result in distrust and bankruptcy.

    100% agree we should be skeptical about INZOI. I thought the initial announcement was sketchy as hell. The radio silence since then isn't reassuring either. I think them using Unreal Engine 5 allowed the graphics to look great and this is basically all the game has going for it atm.

      They are also using Ai scanning tech to achieve the graphics- but certainly, the engine itself is very capable of those higher end realistic graphics. I do feel that the turn around time is very very unsual- that would be under two years total for a full game launch

Graphics only get you so far. PalWorld isn’t hyper realistic and is making bank right now because the gameplay is fun. Even swaying people who aren’t into Pokemon style graphics and just into survivalist gameplay. Things that made me off put in initial reviews were things like babies being able to be left home alone for hours without repercussions. And showing these hyper realistic kid models on a playground with non-interactable playground equipment. Which is a call back to one of my biggest issues with Sims 4…things filling up space that aren’t useable in gameplay. Also, it seems like community spaces will be set and based on scanned in real world environments and be unchangeable except for a filter to make it ‘cartoony’ which looks like trash. While I am not the biggest builder in the world, when I do invest time in something it’s usually my community spaces because that’s where my characters can collide with others. I am a bit turned off by having no build controls outside my lot and I got the impression that was the case with InZoi.

    Inzoi makes me nervous. It’s promising an awful lot on a really short timeline. It’s been in development for a bit over a year and is supposed to be launching I believe this year. Even for an early access release that is really fast for a full 3d life sim. On top of this the people who got to demo the game were sent computers to do so which both raises concerns about how accessible the game will be performance wise not to mention runs into some slight ethical questions about buying good press (after all the people playing the game are getting a nice computer out of the deal which raises concerns of bias in what they then say about the game).
    I’m not saying the game will be bad or that the people who played the demo are for sure biased it just is raising a lot of red flags that make me worried about how the game will actually turn out.

I like the fact it will be free out the door, as that will give people a chance to play and decide if they actually like it before investing any money. Demos and free to play are more likely to get my money than a game that I can not play ahead of time. I'm just unsure about investing in a game I can't determine if I actually like. Time will tell with this game like all others, but I don't expect to hear anything before May at the earliest.

I am also not big into micro transactions so the fact that they are going that way makes it more likely that I will either avoid the game or go into it knowing I'm just going to play around with it. It's worth mentioning that PUBG that originally a paid game although it was only the case on PC and console as PUBG Mobile was released as a free to play game similar to Among Us and Vampire Survivors. PUBG did later be free to play similar to other games including The Sims 4.
    Interesting that competition is mentioned. I believe releasing a game close to another game could affect a game as it'll end up competing with other games. The Sims 3 Pets is an example as it was released close to other games like Batman: Arkham City, Battlefield 3, and Sony's Uncharted 3, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword would be released in the following month.
    Games can get hype for many reasons. Hogwarts Legacy got attention namely because it's the first major Harry Potter game on a PC/console since LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 (exactly 11 years apart) as well as due to the mixed reception of Hogwarts Legacy (being the HP equivalent of Metroid: Other M). I believe the reason Paralives and other similar games (Life by You and inZOI) could be getting attention could be due to Simmers' dissatisfaction of The Sims. The fact there hasn't been a new Sims game since *2018* with The Sims Mobile's release could also factor into the hype.

While the realism is appreciated, the game fails to capture the whimsy/escapism (in terms of environment and art direction) that most life simulators and casual games provide. Additionally, I do notice that the character models and customization options seem to be heavily geared towards making Southeast Asian avatars with little room for other ethnic representation. I watched a few creators in early access who tried to make caucasian/white avatars of themselves, however even after adjusting settings the avatar appeared hapa (half or partially Asian) at best. I'm with you. I can't say that I'm at all interested in Inzoi and I don't plan on getting it when it comes out. There are just way too many red flags. I'm also fairly certain that it's going to be horribly optimized and require a very strong computer. Game companies sending people fancy computers to try out their game with is a huge red flag. That means it probably doesn't run that well on lower-end computers, and they don't want to risk that being shown in any of the videos. As soon as the people with early access started mentioning that they were sent a computer, I had a bad feeling about Inzoi.
    Also, I'm pretty sure the whole 'AI texture' thing uses AI art generation, which i refuse to support. So even if it somehow did defy my expectations and end up being a good game, I still wouldn't buy it.

    Inzoi is just not launching this year. There has been zero marketing around it, all we know about it is that the graphics look good.
    We just have no information on any of the features, mechanics, or monetisation, we're all just speculating at this point. If the game was gonna launch this year we would've already seen at least a couple trailers & heard about some of the game's main features.
    So no, it won't be out this year, I'm not sure where that 2024 date comes from, but I don't even think it'll be out next year unless we start seeing some trailers & presentations this year.
    Thankfully LBY & Paralives are getting their stuff out there.

    I don’t think being the first to launch matters much, but not being the last to launch might. This is especially true if some of these games launch the base game for free. I expect the majority of the market will ve divided between 2-3 of these games. While visuals matter, creating engaging gameplay will likely be the key to success since it’ll keep the players with the game for longer, making more purchases. One thing that could impact the sales in unexpected ways is the modding community. If one of these games manages to capture the interest of great modders early on and supports them, this could give them advantage over others. This is also why I emphasized developing gameplay over visuals, as modders more often improve the visuals, with less the gameplay (understandably). With many games entering the market in so short time frame from each other, public image, creating a buzz, matters a lot. This might put Inzoi in a disadvantage given that the other games have been promoting their game for a longer time. It’ll be interesting to see though if it might e.g. gain a lot of success in some market areas or if it might bring people to the genre who have not played it before. This is something that I could see happening with Inzoi due to its visuals.

    • @SimmerErin
      @SimmerErin  6 месяцев назад

      a thoughtful and nuanced comment. As more modding- I have heard inzoi is considering not allowing cc. if this is ultimately true this too could end up playing a role

    • @heidin.7271
      @heidin.7271 6 месяцев назад

      @@SimmerErinIf Inzoi would disallow cc, and others allow, it could definitely hurt them. I feel modding has been an ever present feature of The Sims franchise since the first game in the series to the point that I wonder if it has become a genre expectation. I think this is partly because there is a desire amongst the players to create something very specific (e.g. celebrities, people they know or people with really specific charasteristics), and partly because the masses of modders can provide things quicker than the developers themselves can, especially if the modding community is large and skillful. Ofc, banning cc would force the players to buy additional content from the developers themselves, so I understand if that’s the goal with it. But, I think it might hurt them more than help, especially if cc is allowed in the othwr games.

    The graphics of the game do seem really pretty and well done, however realstic graphics are not really what i look for in games. But if this game does release it will mostly like appeal the most to alpha cc players, and honestly having the sims community start splitting I think would be a good thing. Having more life sims does not only create compition and allows people to better choose a game that could work for them.

    I believe that the one that engages players is going to "win out" but I also hope that people choose to play more than one over time (similar to how people play both Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing). As for me, I'm not going to buy a new computer to play any of them. I suspect I'll stick with TS4 because it already has so much content, as I dislike starting over, and because I can't afford to upgrade my computer or my internet. (I doubt that they could upgrade my internet enough if any of them are "cloud-based." I live in a semi-rural area and they are not really doing much to upgrade the connections around here.)
    Until you made this video, I had forgotten about Inzoi! Project Rene, Paralives, and Life By You are getting "all the buzz" from many sources, including from information they are putting out. I see none of that from Inzoi. (I wonder if the Koreans are getting more info.)
