Being a 60+ year hunter reloader and rifle collector I am amazed at your knowledge you have for your age every time I watch one of your videos and I make my sons who are about your age watch everyone of them so they can learn something new just like I do! Thank you so much for taking the time to put them out and looking forward to each and everyone! I recommend your videos anything a young guy has a question more then I realize so keep them coming! I may be old but I look forward to learning something new in each one 🙌👏👊
Another great episode Desert Dog! Still the one and only channel that I watch every single video from. That Phil Shoemaker episode was the about the only thing Spomer has ever done that was worth listening to. That guy’s experience and confidence was very evident and I loved what he had to say about the ole 30-06!
Great vid DD. Thank you for your time as always. The bear protection video frenzy is funny. Nothing scares computer commandos more than bears and rattlesnakes. In arizona our new transplants here are frequently also scared of javelinas and mountain lions. Nothing a 15+1 glock 10mm cant handle though ha.
Thanks for answering my question. I feel like I won the lottery because you picked my question to answer. And "Go Steelers" , just proving I'm from Pittsburgh
In regards to the CZ 457: the models with iron sights and/or hogback stocks like the Premium are practically incompatible with a scope. The rear sight is so far back that only the shortest tube will work without removing the rear sight, and the cheek weld is too low and requires elevation unless you just want to use the iron sights. So stick with the classic style stock and plain barrel if you plan on using a scope. The guns are modular though so you can switch out barrels and stocks as required.
Uncle Desert Dog- Could you please make a video on the history of the Marlin 336? I love your videos and would love to hear your opinion of this iconic all-American firearm. Sincerely, Ryan from Loomis, CA (fellow CA hunter and gun enthusiast)
Trust me, I don't take him seriously (how could anyone?). I was pointing out that the major influences in the industry follow the exact same topic trends.
Looking in Africa's Most Dangerous" by Dr. Kevin Robertson, he lists rifle weights and recoil energy of ready to hunt weapons. 9.3x62 at 10 lbs. was ok/.375 at 9 lbs. was not(better when downloaded to 2400 FPS) ...his 505 Gibbs stopping rifle weighs 11 lbs. For recoil management weight is your friend.
To the person asking about muzzle brakes.... there is a "new" shrouded brake that redirects the gases forward ..so less noise to the sides.. the sound all goes forward just like a regular shot... check out Witt's SME sound mitigating equipment...NOT a silencer....so LEGAL...other makes also
The juice is not worth the squeeze. When you add the shroud to the witt brake, it reduces noise to the shooter, but no longer acts like a muzzle brake. It's a good devise for tactical environments, where you might want to add the shroud in confined spaces or when going prone in the dirt. Pretty useless to the hunter.
As always great use of the BS button. Your comments to the gentleman about muzzle brakes and suppressors caught my attention for sure. Despite what many shooters might think about firearms ownership here in the UK the use of suppressors or moderators is commonplace on hunting rifles. Indeed the regulations are being reviewed to possibly remove moderators from our licensing system. No need for bear defence advice here since we don’t have any, mind you Muntjac deer can be nasty, no joke, people have had dogs killed and injured by these diminutive creatures.
My first .300 Win Mag was an old Interarms Mark X, my buddy had glass bedded the action in a Boyds laminated stock. If I remember correctly it was made in Yugoslavia. The recoil was unbearable.
Zastava bought machine's from FN Belgium and got the licence to make the 98 civil system (M70) without the left thumbhole . They sold system and barrels to interarms Whitworth . Whitworth made the Walnut stock. The express version copied the Rigby-style. They sold systems and barrels although to Mauser Germany and others for year's.
I appreciate your point of view but i'm of the opinion that having a side arm as close to, twenty four hours a day seven days a week, on your body is a good thing. I have spent my entire life preparing for things that never happened, They're in the stwenty five year time period a lot of people have died by virtue of the things that I was preparing for, Bears criminals etc. so I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Hunters have the tendency to act as if you need to spend an extra twenty thousand dollars for the lightest gear possible when you can just be well prepared and arrive at camp seven minutes later than you would with the lighter gear.
Bear back Up, I swapéd my m19 357 Mag for a Ruger 22. Main gun a Rifle or Shotgun. Thats what you use if an encounter. The 22 for taking out the wounded.
just saw a vid on Mr. Wow... the biggest kudu used as a stud for breeding( he must be seen to be believed). I see no problem with getting the best genetics out there... but having the animals high fenced does change the dynamic... like hunting B&C whitetail on fenced property
I still dislike Spomer. But that bear video was good. Ron strikes me as a very weird or odd person. Especially when he was younger. Guy Miner is a good dude. I thought his video was good. Guy is a former Marine and retired police officer who was also a SWAT sniper. Guys buddy, on the other hand, Gavin is hit and miss but more miss. Although I did like Gavins video 308 pushed to 300 win mag speeds. I would never do that. But it would be very interesting to hear Desert Dogs opinion on Gavins video on the 308 Rocket.
Have you ever had a 8mm x 68 s? I bought a k98 that was supposed to be a 8x57. The first shot was a wild ride and totally blew out the neck. I cerrosafed the chamber and found out that it had been rebarreled/rechambered. Do you know anyone that loads rounds for this case in teh usa?
I agree with Mark and you.thats why i leave comments. If I save or create one Crittenden thinker all of us are benefitting. Time to say I don't allways agree wid you; the critical wont.NOTICE EXTREMIST ON LEFT ALL AGREE WITH EACH OTHER EVEN WHEN THEY HATE EACH OTHER.🦬🐎
It’s about time😳 I thought my life was coming to an end without my monthly DD camp mail🤔🙌

My favourite saying;
You can't polish a turd but you can roll it in glitter. 🥳
You are a rare treasure on YT. Greetings from Germany 😊

Mahalo Desert Dog. Great advice on all my questions. I didn’t even know that suppressors are illegal in Hawaii. Damian
Excellent analysis on all topics discussed; lots to ponder, as usual.
Thank you as always!! Especially from Katy Tx 😜

Dog of the Desert: Another great one! I particularly enjoyed your thoughtful reflection on fly fishing. Way to go.
Great video, love to see your content.
DD I honestly thought you were going to talk about the "bears" in Austin Texas 🤣
Laughing still ; good goin
Your mind is much faster than mine. I regret not exploring that option in the video.
Great show. Thanks desert dog! These are always one of my favorite shows. HCM is super fun to watch.
That's good advice you gave that fellow about the optimum weight for a rifle to carry around in Africa , the terrain is more " Carry friendly ".
As a hunting guide …we HATE muzzle brakes
Thanks for answering my question. I feel like I won the lottery because you picked my question to answer. And "Go Steelers" , just proving I'm from Pittsburgh
Lol naked German hunt was so funny 🤣

Could you please do a video on the 221 fireball. Very interesting cartridge but so little info on it. Thank you 🙏
You should give Kentucky a pass too, that channel is comedy, and fun, and they are not serious.
Trust me, I don't take him seriously (how could anyone?). I was pointing out that the major influences in the industry follow the exact same topic trends.
You are the real deal and i appreciate it. I’m about to unsubscribe from a lot of they all get stuff sent to them. Just like the Banish 30.

Will you be returning to Africa this year? Those Zimbabwe videos were awesome.
Next year.

Had I realized it was a Ron Spomer video, I wouldn't have watched it.
What did you find weird about young Spomer?
If I were a young boy, I would not be comfortable around him, especially alone.
I have a M27, But My M19 is the one on hip when on the hunt, eventualy swaped for a 22 pistol
15:50 🤣
Having DD respond to your mail privately instead of on HCM is truly suffering from success haha.

The 8x68 is europe offspring ( recoil is heavy) . I have 8x68 used cases from a Hunter in the neighbourhood. I have no use for them (live in Germany).
Desert dog what is the movie mentioned here please? And was it on netflix?
Mending the line. Yes, it is on Netflix.
Independent critical thinkers even if [ likly] opinionated don't agree with each other; somtimes just for fun.
