As a Norwegian, I can easily hear the relationship, although I can only understand a few words of Dutch. Using longer focal lengths to capture the whole group would compress the background, whereas seeing the whole stadium is a more interesting view imo.

For the zoom to be of any use, it would require the operator to be further back, which would enlarge the stadium background and pull it in, but it would not be clear. It is useless because there isn't room up there. Also, because you don't frame the whole team in the interview, a lot is lost. A prime would allow for resolution in the background to show scale, and with wide angle would capture the reactions and faces of the whole team. You don't need an enlarged blurry background. You need the team in the shot. You suck at this.
