@@quest9905 Sure, I mean I wish we had gotten more of it, but understandably it wasnt exactly going to be a main focus. I can fill in some gaps on things, and I can sympathize with Sienna and some of those attracted to the Fang, hoping to make a difference. For example in the Adam short, I dont have a problem with Adam killing, they kinda make it out to be a bad thing, but those humans would have had zero problem killing them. Its a kind of Problem I do feel like they wrote Ghira and Blake as being too peaceful in my opinion, that pacifism is somehow going to fix things? Maybe its just my personal opinion but I’d have liked to see a bit more on the subject of course, just wasnt going to happen. I’m the type that does think sometimes violence is needed. Orange hair is called red in real life all the time, since an actual, crimson red is all but impossible. Honestly, Pyrrha's hair is weirder than Nora's.
@@EthanIlchertwhat I’m most looking forward too (aside from the Atlas redesigns) is what will be done with Blake. FRWBY clearly hasn’t been against giving her original plot lines (the majority of her arc in Fixing V5), and she doesn’t really get to do much in canon V7. Although I could understand them having Blake take a bit of a backseat given she’s been a major point of focus in the last few Fixing Volumes, more so that she even was in canon. But if she does take a backseat, I’d be curious to see how her relationship with the whole cast develops, especially with Ruby and Yang. And obviously I’m extremely excited to see more hopefully being done with Weiss and her family, since in canon it felt like we barely scratched the surface.
@@jonahwilliams1331 I can definitely see Blake having some moments like with Marrow and the Faunus in Mantle. But I definitely can see this as a Weiss focused arc where she has to deal with her family and Jacques being a more important antagonist. And I also home to see more of the elitist and ultra nationalist side of Atlas and how Ironwood deals with that.
Honestly that's been the general fannon interpretation that I've seen for years. (It was so prevalent that I was super surprised to find it wasn't stated in the show)
One thing I greatly appreciate about Fixing RWBY is that you made sure to keep all of the well written stuff that Kerry and Miles had written in Volume 1, with only minor recontextualizations here and there to smooth out the rough edges. It’s a great sign of your own writing and editing abilities. You know what needs improvement and what doesn’t, and you let the good writing of the Volume shine through. Also, the art looks amazing, every artist knocked it out of the park with this one. Great work all around from you and the Sketchy Huntsmen! I’m very interested to see what changes you make in FRWBY Volume 7, since that Volume is, comparatively, pretty solid in terms of writing. It’s really Ruby’s decisions early in the Volume, as well as the finale where things begin rolling downhill. And changing the decisions Team RWBY make early in the Volume could drastically change the rest of the Atlas Arc. Can’t wait to see it happen!
I was agreeing with you about V7 having decent writing but then you mention the "decision early in", by which you likely mean RWBY not telling the truth to Ironwood. And then you mention it "affecting the rest of the Atlas arc". Are you one of those people who believe that their eventual argument was caused by this? This is objectively wrong because they told him the truth several episodes before the argument happened. This entire chain of events before V8 is pretty well-written, but it's probably the most misconstrued part of the entire series because the discourse is taken over by mad Ironwood fans who are angry at any notion of their favorite character being treated with any scrutiny and not as the holy Jesus who is never in the wrong. Going by your post, I am going to assume you probably think RWBY not telling Ironwood the truth is hypocritical after being angry at Oz in V6. But do you remember the reason they didn't trust Ironwood? The fact that Ironwood himself was withholding the truth from his populace and willing to neglect their opinion of him, which was a slippery slope and eventually led to him making the decisions he did? Tell me: would it not have been hypocritical if RWBY were mad at Ozpin for withholding the truth, but then gave Ironwood a pass on that?

It's honestly fun seeing so many people loving RWBY so much they are all making stuff like this. And everyone has their different take on it. But this one is my favorite just because it's the first one I encountered.🥰
As a casual viewer of both, Red vs. blue and Rwby. I was sad at the news about RT. But being honest. The writing was on the wall for a while. I hope the Fixing Rwby continues. As it holds the passion and potential, Rwby proper once had. Monty would be pleased to see the strongest part of his creation. Is the love from the fan base. So to Celtic and all those who helped on Fixing Rwby. Thank you. You're all legends. 😊

And once more give you a thanks for giving me the push to do my own take on this 'what if' rwby content, which you also helped inspire.
I feel like if DillonGoo does manage to acquire RWBY from Rooster Teeth (still haven’t heard any developments on that) y’all should work together and make the show 100% better… project would take forever, sure, but then RWBY could get the love & sincerity it deserves as a franchise
I hope he does. I hope he buys it, gets it funded, and runs it into the ground. I want to see the obnoxious, cancerous fandom come to hate this dreck - not as much as I do, but close. Only when the series reaches suck levels heretofore never witnessed, leading to it getting cancelled a second time, and its fans become physically ill at the mere thought of RWBY, will I truly be satisfied.
Said this in the live stream when it premiered but the use of coffe as a mentor squad rather than a one off feels a better use of them and lets us get to know them more. And it makes the drop off scene when the grim are attacking the city before tournament cooler in my head. Can imagine coffe going "Well crap....looks like they need our help again. Lets get going boys and girls." then the rest of the scene goes out as normal. Having some banter between the teams as coffe gives them some pointers while both teams and Jaunes team deal with the grim.
I think Blake's weapon is modeled after the kusurigama. It's a small scythe with a weighted chain at the end. So, I guess they took that base outline, swapped the chain out for an elastic ribbon, and made the scythe a short sword that is also a gun.
I find it a bit weird that the animals in the initiation forest would attack students if this isnt the first initiation *in* the forest, considering that they'd probably learn to equate humans with danger, so I'd personally replace them with maskless young grimm. Otherwise a very solid rewrite though!
This was a great evolution of the original Fixing Volume 1. Not only was the art amazing to see, but it was also great to see the elaboration on lots of plot beats and characterization. Can’t wait for whatever comes next.
After more thought, a few comments: 1. When Coco orders Weiss to do push-ups, Weiss should be able to do them easily. Same with all the students. They are supposed to be strong, yes? 2. In the Forever Fall Forest, when Ruby takes charge of counter-attacking the Ursa, she should have asked Jaune to be theone to body slam the Ursa. Because: (a) delegation, (b) not showing off and (c) Jauna is much bigger, heavier than she and has a shield. Also, this will provide some of the victory he had in the original (though Ruby doesn't know he needs the victory). 3. I would think that Weiss would have had the sense to clam down before storming into Ospin's office and exploding at him. After all, she's already faced discipline from him, before. Ospin could reply about Blake as he did, then mention he has noticed that Weiss is still having problems with Ruby, then continue on about Ruby's improvement and Weiss' attitude causing friction.
1:24:22 That has to be the funniest introduction to a character I have ever seen. Like imagine you met you best friend literally in pieces and they still bring in a cheery greeting as just a head and then puts themself back together

I enjoyed this quite a lot. It keeps fairly faithful to the originals but makes it flow a lot more smoothly. I commend your efforts, Lord Phoenix. The artists too produced some very good work.
I love it when there's a moment of softness to villains if their companions aren't well, and there's genuine care. It's definitely a good way to show why Neo hasn't been in the fights from the start.
@@marcusclark1339 i think its better if their interaction is on the one where they went to blakes home. I'll be honest I like the original but since bumblebee is canon, I think in this reworks's version is more appropriate for the chemistry building part
I agree that Blake opening up to Yang (and Yang suspecting the kitty ears) is better. While Sun is a fun character, he's really not needed. And I loved how Sun's line was given to Yang. As for Bumblebee being planned, the voice actresses for Blake and Yang certainly thought it was planned (as they said in an interview). Their performances had a nice build up of the chemistry between Blake and Yang. This new scene between them improves the start of their slow burn romance.
A friend told me that this exists, and as an ex-fan of the original RWBY, this is absolutely amazing! I'm a little disappointed that Coco wasn't replaced, but the Pomni cameo and too many improvements to summarize more than made up for it!
Ok finally got around to watching this the other night and yo this is fucking phenomenal, Raymond Your writing along with the amazing art talent of the Sketchy Huntsmen breathed so much new life into Volume 1 and made this project such a joy to watch Sarias animatic of the White Rose fight especially made my jaw drop Great stuff. I initially fell off FRWBY around the time FRWBY Volume 3 came out. Just sorta forgot to get around to it. Definitely will now lmao.
Honestly, this is great it doesn't change the story. it's just cleans up the pacing and introductions. Having Cinder introduced in episode 1 but not play a part until the festival was weird here, it makes far more sense to have Roman be the big bad that then gets recruited by her and sets up Salem without saying it her as the "queen has pawns" line right before introducing Cinder could be referring to her. Not rushing the blake and weiss conflict makes it hit harder, and having yang find her and comfort her works better, then Sun, a random boy, she just meet that just happens to be a faunus as blake just had her trust broken a few months ago so she wouldn't trust someone she just meet and yang has been there with her for months slowly earning her trust.
In the scene where the instructor is talking about faunus senses, in the original version it's stated they can see in the dark. But this is a place where Blake actually has a second advantage as well. She points out that faunus with animal ear manifestations have quadraphonic hearing. Better than either animals and humans combined. Without admitting this early to being a faunus, Blake can point out that four-ear faunus can pinpoint someone's location and shape accurately just by their effect on ambient acoustics, even if they are holding their breath or their heart has stopped, by wiggling their animal ears to take in the different angles while they tilt their head and human ears for a baseline comparison.
your fixes are what i take as THE BEST way to try and write a RWBY Remaster although i'd still try to focus on helping the chars not fall down the "same character" rabbithole they did after Monty Oum died we need to remember the characters of team RWBY should follow their base architypes and traights, to some degree on to the later seasons and we must also recollect, that in the world of remnant, is a world where negative emotions summon REALLY dangerous monsters so this should be used as a character/personality guiding rule for the world and it's hunters "you can't be too negative all the time, least you threaten your teamate's and client's lives" (so this becomes the reason most teachers suspect why Ruby is the head of the protag team) still the chars of team RWBY should be kept as close to the base line characteristics of: º Ruby - Leader/Team Heart/Speedster (Archtype) - "Chaotic Prodigy" - Joy battery - Battle maniac (Personality) - Mecha-Chimera(mixed weapons) Expert (Added traight) º Yang - Muscle/Team Flirt/Streetwise (Architype) - Social butterfly (which would involve her friend groupe shoing up as often as possible, yet possibly becoming nothing more than C to D tier characters) - Chaotic Hero (Personality) - Thinks with Right Brain above all else (added traight) º Weiss - Lancer/Mage/Heir (Architype) - Princess - Highstrung (Personality) - Personal worth tied to how her familly vews her (added traight) º Blake - Brains/Rogue (Architype) - Bookworm - Catlike - Downner Debby(Personality) - Ex-Terrorist (with a racismXclassism focus) - Morally dubious, and stubborn about her stances and beleafs (added traights) figuring out how to write the characters to keep with these architypes, while still being true to these traights, AND remembering the setting in which they exist might prove to be dificult BUT would help them feel more real and stable while also, providing clear base guidelines for the writers to figure out how to work on developing the chars in a REASONABLE and BELEAVEBLE fashion or at least that's how i see it personally i feel that following these base rules and traights might get us a better "absorving" story mostly since the fun of fantasy and sci fi worlds lies in the immersion to this alternate reality and what helps there is a realistically written world and characters so keeping focus on that, might keep the story satisfying even in later seasons
I always enjoy your story telling. It is looking like it will be up to people like you to give the Fandom a satisfactory conclusion to our beloved story. Thank you.
I've been a fan of RWBY since 2013. I watched volume 9 only out of commitment and have never seen other people's opinion on the series. I know it has major flaws, but it still brings back memories of happy times for me, so just like LoL lore it's a bit annoying to see such gorgeous worlds with so much potential just being ignored and poorly written (Arcane is good, but it retcon some things) so I'm still on the lookout with all the updates on both. But this video is a light of hope to see what the good part of the fandom thinks and would change to have the perfect story, I do this all the time especially with rwby. I hope this gives me a good time while I knit some projects!
people get mad at the Jaune arc? Why? Monty had big plans for him. (although those plans never came to fruition) Also maybe the Ursa was drawn to the negative emotions that were surrounding Jaune and Cardin? Idk...
As a rookie author. I can see a lot of things we could improve on RWBY, and especially add some relevance to the story lore, which RT avoided a lot. It's a pity that they didn't create a bigger power system and the potential stories on the fallen cities' backstories, like making more episodes for sub-arcs for those missions. I am fairly good when it comes to making action stories, and it's a pity that RWBY didn't expand the power system to make the fights more interesting.
Congratulations on remastering this one. I will have to give it and the rest of the stuff life has gotten in the way for a proper visit later. I can't wait to give a comparison between this and the original and what I personally wouldn't mind suggesting if at most are just some tweaks. I hope you and the crew are well Raymond, I can tell this was no easy feat and took quite a bit just to fine tune it.
Sweet the full movie version of FRWBY V1 remastered time to sort my fixing RWBY crack addiction woot woot! Here to the next one V2 remastered people yes!
45:32 Hold up... Gambol shroud's a sword and also a glock with a Kusarigama mode, but instead of a chain it's a ribbon. I think that shouild be simple enough.
A fantasy-world is not a world if it does not contain things that do not feature in the story. so the Dust-stuff is WORLDBUILDING. VERY important for any work of their intended scale.
I mean, I guess, but all elements in the story should serve at least some kind of function. Be it character development, plot progression, tone setting, or so on. If you include a bunch of stuff with no purpose, then you end up with bloat and wasted potential. Yes, a cohesive world will things not directly covered by the story, such as the specifics of the economy, ecosystems, history, myths, and geography. If you use the story to explain any of that, though, it should have relevance. With the importance of it in the story being correlated with how much time is spent on it. A passing mention of a city's main export can just be simple world building, but an entire conversion lasting several pages talking about the financial situation of said export requires that it be relevant later. Anyway the short of it is that RWBY does fumble with dust a bit and could have had it be a little more relevant.
I think that showing classes that talk about the history and about dust are a better idea than the opening monologue. It's stuff the characters need to learn, so why not show them learning. Especially if that can be done without bogging down the story.
The jaune/cardon change is a little clunky and removes some of the agency it gave jaune in the original. I think a better way would have been to just have Blake help him pick up the box of bees and get some kind of proof that cardon was not only purchasing and transporting contraband, but actively planning to injure another student and have that be the leverage.
14:18 yep, it's a wonder why evryone thought she broke that arm at the end of the tournament intentionally . A deviant that leveled a club and it's staff and SA the club owner has broken someone's arm in cold blood after she defeted them. Rly funny spin 🤣🤣
My favourite part of the whole RWBY franchise was that interaction in the first episode. Ruby: "Are you...robbing me?" Henchman: (exasperated) "YES" Ruby: "ohhhhhhhh..." Ruby: *launches him out of the window*
I loved the production of this! The commissioned artwork was great and the used of hnk ost was hype. Ive been listening to a lot of rewrite type videos lately and most of them dont add visuals or music they way you have, and it makes the video rlly immersive
1:44:48-1:45:11 I think if you just headcanon that the sap that attracts the rapier wasps acts as the Grim equivalent of real-world honey, you should be able to get away with the ursa attack.
I love the vast amounts of animal slaughter this version adds. Makes certain traits like that of Nora's a little more characterizing, really shows her experience with violent when she is only mock disappointed when she presumably breaks the bear... permanently.
I love Weiss in this version. Rich mean bratty. She stayed 'evil just long enough and won a fight. The original turned her nice too quickly. Also, more Glynda is always a plus. I enjoyed that too.
The main problem I have with this is that you only have half of CRDL involved. There should be twelve students who get sorted into three teams of four each.
I love this and enjoyed every minute of it. I love RWBY for all it's flaws, ups and downs. I kept hearing all the comments of Vol 1 - 3 stans in my head that would find this to be an abomination. "Omg how dare you say Vol 1 - 3 needed fixing?!? Don't you know that is the true RWBY as RWBY became trash after Monty's passing?!?!?" I think it retrospect it's nice seeing how it could be if properly planned out and not sporadically put together with cool fight scenes. I look forward to watching the other videos. Edit: Grammar corrections
1:44:50 Jaune is experiencing quite a lot of negative emotion right now. That combined with a lucky nearby Ursa (it'd have to have been close to show up so fast anyway) and the strong smell of sap could be a good reason for it to show up
@@greyworld6242 Sorry if I'm misinterpreting what you're trying to say, but he's actually a part of the team working on it. I won't spoil how so, but that's why he was saying to check the credits of the video.
I think that you generally handled the Weiss-Blake split very well, but the resolution is a bit too quick, but if it was an actual show you'd need to wrap the arc by the end of volume 1. I think that a better way of handling it is dialing back Weiss' hardcore racism a bit to make it feel like less of a jump - she's just having no sympathy for Velvet and saying that Faunus cause trouble wherever they go, that they shouldn't be here because any of them could be terrorist sympathisers, and frame them as the aggressors who deserve what's coming to them. Also have Ozpin give more information to Weiss about Blake to show just how thorough his vetting process is to reassure her that Blake isn't an assassin out to get her or her family, as her point that Blake could be trying to use her to get close to her family hasn't been fully debunked. It would smooth it out just a little more. Otherwise, genuinely very good.
Also, I think that Weiss would have the sense to calm down and report that she discovered that there is a terrorist in the school, instead of storming in and exploding at Ospin. After all, she had already faced discipline from Ospin.
if rooster teeth actually shut down then anything they created is pretty much open to replicate cause what will a non existent company do about it sue us with what money 🤣

Same I really hope we get to see more of Atlas and see this version of Ironwood done better than in the show.
After seeing the absolute fix up that vol 5 got, I am absolutely hyped for it
@@matthewharner1744 Anything specific your anticipating to see in FRWBY?
At the very least, The Ice Queendom anime made Weiss's trailer more into the actual story making it a thing her father made her do to prove herself
Miles and Kerry write fairly good material under proper supervision, too bad the less oversight they had the more messy their work got

Said this in the live stream when it premiered but the use of coffe as a mentor squad rather than a one off feels a better use of them and lets us get to know them more. And it makes the drop off scene when the grim are attacking the city before tournament cooler in my head. Can imagine coffe going "Well crap....looks like they need our help again. Lets get going boys and girls." then the rest of the scene goes out as normal. Having some banter between the teams as coffe gives them some pointers while both teams and Jaunes team deal with the grim.
I know this was remastered, but some of the changes Ice Queendom did to episode I, where we see Tai and other adults earlier on, we real improvements.
You said we not were
I think Blake's weapon is modeled after the kusurigama.
I love how red trailer is literally unchanged, because it perfectly describes ruby.
This was a great evolution of the original Fixing Volume 1. Not only was the art amazing to see, but it was also great to see the elaboration on lots of plot beats and characterization. Can’t wait for whatever comes next.
After more thought, a few comments:
Ospin could reply about Blake as he did, then mention he has noticed that Weiss is still having problems with Ruby, then continue on about Ruby's improvement and Weiss' attitude causing friction.

i love how the tension between weiss and the team wasnt fixed fast like in the orig and how blake opens up to yang instead of sun
1: better builds up the main character's relationship together
2: actually makes Bumblebee look planned ahead rather than a last minute change
should of kept the sun one honestly

Great stuff.
The Get Along shirt is gold.

For what it’s worth, this is a great retelling.
Weiss is showing her inner Bakugo in this remaster.
And Yang's a drunk...?
Ima be honest that does that wonders for the story
your fixes are what i take as THE BEST way to try and write a RWBY Remaster
although
i'd still try to focus on helping the chars not fall down the "same character" rabbithole they did after Monty Oum died
we need to remember the characters of team RWBY should follow their base architypes and traights, to some degree on to the later seasons
and we must also recollect, that in the world of remnant, is a world where negative emotions summon REALLY dangerous monsters
so this should be used as a character/personality guiding rule for the world and it's hunters
"you can't be too negative all the time, least you threaten your teamate's and client's lives"
(so this becomes the reason most teachers suspect why Ruby is the head of the protag team)
still
the chars of team RWBY should be kept as close to the base line characteristics of:
º Ruby - Leader/Team Heart/Speedster (Archtype)
- "Chaotic Prodigy" - Joy battery - Battle maniac (Personality)
- Mecha-Chimera(mixed weapons) Expert (Added traight)
º Yang - Muscle/Team Flirt/Streetwise (Architype)
- Social butterfly (which would involve her friend groupe shoing up as often as possible, yet possibly becoming nothing more than C to D tier characters) - Chaotic Hero (Personality)
- Thinks with Right Brain above all else (added traight)
º Weiss - Lancer/Mage/Heir (Architype)
- Princess - Highstrung (Personality)
- Personal worth tied to how her familly vews her (added traight)
º Blake - Brains/Rogue (Architype)
- Bookworm - Catlike - Downner Debby(Personality)
- Ex-Terrorist (with a racismXclassism focus) - Morally dubious, and stubborn about her stances and beleafs (added traights)
figuring out how to write the characters to keep with these architypes, while still being true to these traights, AND remembering the setting in which they exist
might prove to be dificult
BUT
would help them feel more real and stable
while also, providing clear base guidelines for the writers to figure out how to work on developing the chars in a REASONABLE and BELEAVEBLE fashion
or at least
that's how i see it
personally i feel that following these base rules and traights might get us a better "absorving" story
mostly since the fun of fantasy and sci fi worlds lies in the immersion to this alternate reality
and what helps there is a realistically written world and characters
so
keeping focus on that, might keep the story satisfying even in later seasons
Also
the "super powers"/grimm need a better explanation
cuz rn: Semblance = bootleg Nen
Grimm = Meanigless "Oh NO! A BIGGER MONSTER" type threat
Goddamn dude shut up

(although those plans never came to fruition)
Also maybe the Ursa was drawn to the negative emotions that were surrounding Jaune and Cardin? Idk...
They specifically use sap to distract the ursa
As a rookie author. I can see a lot of things we could improve on RWBY, and especially add some relevance to the story lore, which RT avoided a lot. It's a pity that they didn't create a bigger power system and the potential stories on the fallen cities' backstories, like making more episodes for sub-arcs for those missions.
I am fairly good when it comes to making action stories, and it's a pity that RWBY didn't expand the power system to make the fights more interesting.
ospin being portraid as having wings and horns is briliant here even if maybe not intended 1:14:08

Congratulations on remastering this one. I will have to give it and the rest of the stuff life has gotten in the way for a proper visit later. A fantasy-world is not a world if it does not contain things that do not feature in the story. so the Dust-stuff is WORLDBUILDING. VERY important for any work of their intended scale.
But in the end, it doesn't really amount to anything since they drop the idea and start focusing on the weird mythology and magic of the old world
@@Awesome_Pichuit adds to fights
I like to think Ice Queendom first 3 episodes helps with the set up of RWBY, but that just me.

I love this and enjoyed every minute of it. I love RWBY for all it's flaws, ups and downs. I kept hearing all the comments of Vol 1 - 3 stans in my head that would find this to be an abomination.

Edit: Grammar corrections
1:44:50 Jaune is experiencing quite a lot of negative emotion right now. That combined with a lucky nearby Ursa (it'd have to have been close to show up so fast anyway) and the strong smell of sap could be a good reason for it to show up

You know what, I wouldn't mind a RWBY reboot.
