I really wish that all the beds had both a single and double, the same goes for the couches, they should have had both a chair, 2-seater, and 3-seater.
They could have added a new toddler bed too. If you don't use custom content there's only 3 choices for toddler beds.

@@ashlee8057 Yeah, I don't know they can't provide more matching sets of all the game pack build furniture stuff. I also have a problem matching cabinets w/counters. Sometimes they are even different sizes which also makes using the enlarger or smaller tool impossible to use, also.

Too bad they can't be like the hand rails for staircases. It would be nice to select the curtain, pick the window you want it on, and than it instantly adjusts to fit. Maybe a suggestion for Sims 5?

THERE IS NO BACKWARDS ON CEILING FANS! Someone made an incorrect assumption and gathered the rest of the internet to join their nonsense. Depending on which way fans turn determines which way the air flows. And depending on the temperature of your home, you may want air to not blow down on you, but have it circulate up. Every fan I've ever seen has a switch so you may change the flow of air. Love y'all, but this was just a peeve of mine I had to share.
I thought the switch was to dust the fan blades each "season". ;)

I believe that fan was only backwards because the blades were tilted.

The big wooden spoon and fork is an islander thing I’ve noticed lmao. I’m Filipino and have a few of them sprawled on my kitchen wall 😂 and my Filipino friends have them too

James, I live in Hawai’i and those slatted windows are super pretty but they don’t have glass because they work kind of like blinds/ shutters where you turn the pole and they open/close. If you need a pic look up “Hawaiian slatted windows”. I LOVE you and Deli’s videos!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Now that lounge chairs are in the game I'm hoping they'll bring back recliners like in Sims 2. Personally for me the closer the gameplay gets to Sims 2 would be ideal to me. Aka. Bring back the double swatches! And spiral stairs!
Edit: Oh and I hope they make beds upgradable. Like being able to buy a new mattress so the uncomfortable beds won't kill my sims' moods every night lol

I agree. And I've liked the idea of a 3x2 bed (like a super king) because sometimes if you make big rooms the beds look too small. And could also allow kids/pets to jump on it when two people are sleeping.

@@skywalker6648 They were still working on it when the early access at E3 happened (at least that's what LilSimsie or James said in one of their videos from that.) Guess it's not done yet. Could be another month or two I guess. :P

Even though certain toilets/showers can be used off the grid,I think if either of you do an "off the grid" challenge, you should do it as realistic as possible and only use the bush, or the shower in rain/waterfall option. Or the shower in a bottle option from Jungle Adventure.
You can shower off grid. Camp showers have existed for ages! I always imagined the Outdoor Retreat shower to be like that one.
The shower in a bottle is certainly very realistic 😂😂

@@ney6982 They were talking about in the video. Its a new lot trait where electronics/plumbing wont work. Well theres a base game toilet that works a shower from strangerville...but I feel like thats a bit of a cop out.

Yep, islands aren't really common in average houses where I grew up either. They're not really a no brainer for average households. So to the person saying this point is irrelevant, look who's irrelevant now (you 😁).

I like that it is much less time consuming than the 2 and 1/2 hour live stream. Especially, if you like to build in the game.
The giant wall spoon/fork is a cultural symbol, especially in polynesian/hawaiian/filipino cultures. In my family they're said to symbolise always having good food and the importance of eating meals as a family. Often they are handed down as heirlooms or made as gifts for new homeowners.
Their is 5 things that I thought was missing or would like in a update or/and in another pack:
- I would’ve love them to add hammocks because I don’t know what other pack we would get them in and ceiling showers.
- I would of also like them to update ladders into the game (if we can use then in ocean why not just make them functional on land.
- l would like them to update the game so all vacation lot can be both liveable and vacation.
- I hope they do a retreat game pack that includes all hotels, resorts and cruise ship along with a hidden underwater world lots since we didn’t get them in this pack. It could be divided into two section of lots (it doesn’t have to be massive) with underwater water domes lots and drifting cruise ships and pirate ships that you can decorate the insides of like in city living. You can make your own hotel/resort/cruise ship business.
- I also think they can update the game at the same so a sim can own more than one lot and rent it out (and if updated), be able to rent vacation lot as well.
I'd love to see an island themed spa, when you combine Island Living with Spa Day :D
The glass floor tiles would look cool on a balcony.

Well, it does bother me that there are probably many base game and other game pack items that I have never used in the game. Because it feels like a waste.

@@skywalker6648 yeah but that would be clear when you look at the stuff you don't use. that stuff usually has a theme.
@@firefly8767 Not really. For example, some of the floor and wall designs as well as some of the furniture pieces don't really have a theme and doesn't generally match anything else in my builds. Same can be said for most of the wall décor and sculpture stuff like the day of dead skeleton type of statue doll, you know? It just looks creepy and I get no use of it. So you're right, could be a challenge.
I want a baby and pregnancy expansion pack.
-working strollers so your baby isn’t in the ground if you travel somewhere and it’s unrealistic to have them in a bassinet 24/7
-working pack n plays
-baby toys
-the ability to give your baby actual baby food
-teething periods that affect moodlets (maybe give the Option to give the baby a cold teether to fix the moodlet)
-optional changing tables
-changing tables for commercial lots
- better overall appearance for the baby
-the ability to dress my baby
-weird pregnancy cravings
-false labor scares
-more realistic labor and birth process.
-baby clothes!
-the ability to give my baby baby food after a a certain time period
-the option to give the baby up for adoption.
-individual term doctors appointments
-funny diaper changing moodlets
-CRIBS

Deli always looks so happy when she's with James, I wish we all had a friend like that.
I wish they'd given us a new toddler bed and bassinet to match with the new adult beds. The current basegame bassinet would look quite out of place with the island living items and I think they should have added a pack-styled bassinet like they did with Vampires and the alien bassinet in Get to Work.
The colours on the portable toddler bed would kind of work with the Island Living colours, but it looks too chunky and modern to really fit.
They don't care about the babies

I tried using the off the grid trait in a rags to riches today and so far I don't like it at all. Because of the few items they selected to be "usable off gird" you're very limited in the aesthetic for the kind of houses you can build. I'm using a sink that's supposed to be usable off grid, but it doesn't work normally. All the usual sink options are visible but greyed out, and there is a new option for "wash hands quickly". When my sim does that she gets a tense moodlet from "brackish water". When the sink got dirty, I couldn't clean it because that option was greyed out.
I don't have a shower or toilet yet, so I don't know how they work. The only bathtub that works off grid is the basegame shower/bath combo with the curtain, so I will have to get it because I have dogs and may have toddlers later, even though I don't like the way that item looks.
The sink from Seasons is usable off grid, but none of the other seasons plumbing is.
The seasons toilet really should be usable off grid because of the way it goes directly into the ground. James pointed this out in his Seasons build/buy overview that toilets usually plumb into the wall. I think the Seasons one plumbs downwards because it is based off they way composting toilets look, so it really should work off grid.
I wish they had taken the time to make a proper off-grid pack with water collection and solar panels so they could develop a resource management system. The way they've added it now just means sims get negative moodlets whenever they use plumbing, and builders are very limited in the aesthetics they can use. If I wanted to only place candles and no electric lights, I can do that on my own, I don't need a lot trait to impose it on me!
I thought maybe the laundry day pack sinks might work well with this pack. Laundry day just seems like it has an aesthetic/theme that compliments off-grid living.
@@MariaMartinez-ew7hc As I remember it, the aesthetic for the pack was decided before the name and gameplay, when an off grid/homesteading theme was an option.
Update on my game: I saved up for the bath/shower combo, but couldn't wash my dogs in it because that option was greyed out. The only shower option only solved half of the hygiene need per wash (so my sim had to shower twice each time) and was barely more time-efficient than repeated handwashing.
Shortly after I bought it, the shower stopped working completely. It wasn't broken, it just became completely unusable off-grid.
I removed the lot trait after less than a week of ingame time because I needed my sim to be clean in order to garden. The next day I got $280 bills.
I'm curious what would happen if you turned the lot trait on only once a week to avoid bills, but I won't be enabling it long-term again.
You can now make an all glass house, glass walls, glass roof, and glass floors!
I think this pack is such a great one. A lot of the items can be used in modern homes and in general just in other settings, which always makes the pack's value higher. (something that Strangerville couldn't really achieve for example)
The only thing missing in this world is the RESORT. JUST A *****SMALL DETAIL****

Islands don't automatically mean resorts. Just because Island Paradise has them doesn't mean this pack has to have them too.

I thought that side table and the round chairs were djembes at first and I was so excited! Percussive instruments and ukulelesfor musical circles would have been a fun addition to the pack.
We need a "build your own shower" kit. AND MORE ROUND SINKS for the bathroom to add to the counter.

My grandparents and all of my grandpa's family have that giant wooden fork and spoon. But we're Filipino so maybe it's part of the island situation. It's a cultural thing and EXTREMELY accurate.

As an Islander, this pack really just speaks to me. This is more Pacifica inspired than anything but I just really, really love more representation of different aesthetics and cultures like this. Sometimes it's just a pet peeve when they're constantly whining about more "basic" stuff. "Nicer modern" stuff, apparently.

I can definitely understand why they didn't include cabinets in this pack. Considering all of the main features that are still somewhat glitchy, it seems like something about this pack was super difficult to make, and in order to get it out on time, I can see why they didn't do real cabinets. Still wish they would do more kitchen counters and matching cabinets, but maybe we'll get that in another free update or something.

Them not adding the island counter is a serious missed opportunity for us to have waterfall islands in-game. If y’all don’t know what that is, it’s when the countertop is also on the sides. It looks very nice (and is also pretty expensive IRL).. makes me sad they didn’t do that when they basically did it for the two end-pieces in the new counter (only that won’t function as an actual island) 😕

This all looks really cool but I have to say I’m pretty disappointed that we don’t get any resort/hotel game play. That was one of my favourite things in the sims 3

Semaj, imagine an island mansion with a hidden, underground swimming pool to 'practice diving'. That utilitarian-style SCUBA gear rack/unit could be in the room just before that swimming pool.
(Also, deli, if you want glass windows, don't bother living on an island. You want wide open windows with decent overhangs for good air circulation. Low-cost temperature control.)

I am so late to this Expansion pack. But I love this Island One because its based of Polynesian Culture (Though the names are kinda funky, its suppose to represent the Polynesian alphabet.) I love it.
I’m glad you brought up the kitchen counters lol yes they have a range of colors but there are some sections there are just way much stuff and then you get like 10 of one items even after all the game packs

It would have been really neat for them to introduce an off-the grid “coffee maker”. Like when you go camping or to the cottage and you use those pour-over coffee drippers and hot water from the kettle 😆 guess that’d be pretty complicated though

The big spoon and forks are an old school thing. I remember my nanna having a set on the wall like that. I think it gots to do with how people cooked back in the day in the countryside. Over the fire on a big cast iron pot. Maybe not, who knows.

James u lied! Ceiling fans do affect your tempature if u have seasons installed. They can also dry off a wet sim now
