I really like your example with the present perfect and the present perfect progressive. I think I just caught the subtle nuance between those two verb tenses. I’ve studied a lot my verb tenses and until this example I wasn’t sure about which one to use and why. Thanks a lot. For me to master my verb tenses has been a breakthrough in my learning. It's given me the confidence I needed at this time to start to speak and write more often. Keep it up Wes, I appreciate your good work ! Steve
Daran (UK) I apologise WES, because I am very confused with tenses I am going to watch this video again and again until I am confident about what I am talking /writing. I hope you will not mind. I found this is an excellent lesson to learn tenses.
Thanks a million, the lesson was extremely helpful and you're a great teacher. I have a question please is there any difference in the meaning when we say ( when I started this lesson, people had been talking in the chat ) and ( when I started this lesson, people were talking in the chat) hope you clarify this point to me.
This is my first time to really have a way through which i can ascend and improve my Engligh language, i feel that it will be very fluid to learn through your contents that i already like.
Dear sir, it's very good.My humble request is that different time markers for different tenses may be given as a tabular column. ONCE Again I enjoy learning with you, excellent teaching sir
It was a great and logical explanation of the 12 tenses. Once you make your live quiz lesson, I will have been getting ready for listening it. I have never really understood the neccessity of these future tenses because I just would say it simpler.
1. I study English every day. 2. Yesterday, I reviewed vocabulary. 3. I have visited Koh Kong (location in Cambodia) 4. Tomorrow, I will have steak. 5. I am answering your questions. 😂 6. At 6pm yesterday, I were studying English. 7. Yes, I will be. 8. I have been spending my free time with my phone. 9. Before I left the house this morning, I had eaten sandwiches. 10. No, I hadn't been waiting. 11. I will have accomplished math exercises. 12. By the end of the month, I will have been living here for 17 years. By the ways, Thanks for your video.
Cool lesson, my favorite part in English - Tenses! I enjoy watching the lesson and by the end of the day I will have learned new rules from your lesson! 🙌👍✍️
Thank you! Another great lesson for us to figure out how to use grammar correctly. Here's an example by me for Future Perfect Tense + uncertain condition: By the time that ambulance gets here, we would have gotten her to help.
1. I study English three hours a day despite my busy schedule. 2. I went to the cinema yesterday and the movie was great. 3. I have visited Boracay twice/ I've been to Boracay twice. Unfortunately I haven't been to other countries. Wes' youtube channel has taught me a lot of English lessons.
You have explained everything in a nice way...but you should have told about tenses like... 1. Past Future Tense: I said that I would sing in the afternoon. 2. Past Future Continuous Tense: I said that I would be singing for the whole day. etc.
Humm, there is one example which makes me confused. In the past progressive, "Last week, we were visiting Slovenia". In my opinion, you should put some specific time in it, like "On this day last week, we were visiting Slovenia" So if you say "Last week" I think it should be "we visited Slovenia"
Thak you Mr Wes your clarification has set my doubts to rest and enabled me to use it contextually without an element of doubt since you have covered a lot of ground .I am requesting you to teach advanced English grammar .l would be really grateful to you
Hi Wes! Great lesson. Had a wonderful time watching this one. Would you please teach us the Future-in-the-past tense too? Thanks. Keep up the good work till 2067! 😎
Wes, "travelled" is the British way to spell the word. ;-) American English: "She traveled ...". For all those who are wondering why that is: One of the reasons is that the last syllable is not stressed. Examples: canceled, traveled, labeled, wondered etc., but: stopped, regretted, stabbed, starred. The double consonant prevents a wrong pronunciation (vowel change). That doesn't apply to words with stressed long vowles like heal (--> healed), howl (--> howled), seem (--> seemed) etc.. or words ending with a vowel.
I just closed my eyes and listened to this video from start to finish. I learned not only tenses but American accent also. It will be useful for those who haven’t been familiar with the accent. So, I’m gonna invite my friends to subscribe and hit the bell button. They will be speaking more fluently with the tenses by the end of the year. A number of people in my country, Thailand, were struggling with forming a sentence despite the hard fact that they had been studying for several years. Unfortunately, their skills had remained unchanged. Anyway, students who have been working hard will have achieved their goals in so far as there is the light at the end of the tunnel. How long will they have been taking time to understand native speakers almost all the words they say? I suppose these covered all stuff you kindly taught. Thank you so much.
