Oh the madness of this engine. Loved working on these so much I had to have one. These engines would really light up with the remapping of the ECU and cams. We had it all pistons, rods, valves spring at Select Sales. It is very responsive, I got 130 hp out of a JDM hi comp engine with cams, springs and ported head with Superchips re-mapped ECU.

Sounds like the 1300cc 16v DOHC. Amazing little engine. 7800rev limit. Fun to bang through the first few gears.

I think you might find he was revving it a bit harder than that. I friend of mine who was at the really told me it was north of 9000rpm.

@@Palefire1 I don't think the factory ECU would still be in place. Sure... it might be the factory ECU box, but no doubt it would have a MOTEC or similar in it. ;-)

I'm pretty sure it would have had a 4 cylinder, 16 valve, 1298cc engine. Definitely NA.

Likely the 1.3 twin cam, probably on ITB's and NA, there were a 1.6 but only on the sedan, which is essentially the same block with longer stroke, not good for higher revs. The head was also different, SOHC 16v
