Thanks for posting the highlights. I am from India and the whole india felt sorry for the south africans and everyone thought that this was very injustice for the south africans and as per the 1996 duckworth calculations south africa would have needed 276 to win in 45 overs and 252 in 42 overs

surbhikankariya they got what they deserved! South Africa slowed down the over rate to not allow England to bat the full 50 overs and hence prevent them from timing their run towards the end. In the end it was poetic justice for trying to manipulate the rules!

All the memories of this match are of the ridiculous (and pre-Duckworth-Lewis) rain rule and how it adversely affected South Africa but scarcely less ridiculous was the rule that meant that South Africa could bowl their overs as slowly as possible to ensure England got no more than 45 of them - Donald and others were quite clearly slowing this down for tactical reasons when Reeve and Lewis were creating carnage.

South Africa got what they deserved for deliberately slowing the over rate because they were getting hammered. Karma is a bitch! Kepler Wessells dropped the cup as did Gibbs for winning the toss and electing to bowl when he knew that the weather will turn to crap when it was his to turn to bat.
