To think that each machine back in the day was THE hottest coolest have to have ride and in a year or two it was eclipsed by something better , you just don't realize the evolution until you see a collection like this.
In the late 80s, I was in my late teens and bought a 69 Artic Cat, leopard skin pattern seat and all. Somebody had re- powered it and it was a BEAST, for what it was. The enclosed ski at the beginning almost looked like an AMC Gremlin. Great video, Thanx!!!👍👍
Drove the Moto Ski at 3:03 and the Scorpion at 4:30 when I was in high school, Scorpion I believe had a 18 hp and a Moto Ski Ms18/28hp, which sadly couldn't find in video. Miss those days.
There's so many machines there that I've never seen before. Some amazing designs back then, it's cool to see what they thought people wanted and the innovative ideas they executed. Very cool to see, that fella collected a pile of history.👍👍
I agree most of those old sleds people just parked them in the weeds when they upgraded and you look at these ones and realize just about everyone was making them
Cool video of some vintage iron I have never seen.....I noticed that there were no “RUPP” model snowmobiles in that collection! I still have my 1974 RUPP Nitro II that I purchased in 1975 in Williston ND from Duane’s Radiator Shop, local dealer, still have the RUPP 2-piece snowmobile suit as well.
Its just good that someone actually takes the time to share this with the rest of the world. Haters are gonna hate dont matter what you do in this world. Most of them are not smart enough to know the difference.
awesome. i wish RUclips would do away with the thumbs down option. I have trouble understanding why someone would thumbs down a cool video like this. if old iron isn't your thing...simply move on. haha.
Scott, I agree. These sleds rekindle many memories and experiences from my past. Every enthusiast appreciates the (iconic) design and engineering advancements for each era. DNA of these sleds are found in every snowmobile made today.
Thanks for your video. About Old Snowmobiles it's incredible. Really - I have never seen so many models of snowmobile. I saw there incredible models. It would have been interesting if the owners would have put a small card showing the year and the model. If possible, I would like to have the information of the place (Such as address /The geographical coordinates) and the details of the event; It is an annual fair, or a special day. I really like having the coordinates of the places where interesting things happen. I know that Zumbrota, MN is in USA. I also saw your text talking about a deceased neighbor. So I believe (this sale / or storerooms exist) is because of the death of Mr. Clemens. But I can not believe that this man had kept all these old machines. Even in a century it is impossible to have been the owner of all this. 👍 Thank you very much for any information.
Holy Smokes!! I didn't know that there were this many types & brands of Snowmobiles. Thanks for the post! Now am wondering as to what was the very first one & what year some of those were.
IMO these time machines belong in a museum,. The history of so many brands that manufactured sleds right down to there demise. John Deere, Mercury, Skiroule, Motoski, Boa Ski, Harley Davidson, Massy Ferguson, Ariens, to name a few
Oh my gosh I haven't seen sleds that old since I started sledding as a kid in the early 70's hell Snow Jet, John Deere, Eveinrode Johnson Damn!! That early Polaris Wow!!!!!!
Idk what you mean by that. My first sled was a 76 polaris. It was already over 20yr old when i started riding it and it was bought non running from a junkyard. Cleaned the fuel system. Thst was it, fired up second pull. Other than track tension and replacing skags i did nothing but fill it with premix for the 6 or 7 years i had it. And i beat the hell out of it.
I like double tracks, but in Sweden it is almost impossible to find a decent SkiDoo double tracks, but I had one before. The only double tracks I got later, is an Ockelbo Trioman. MiH🔔
nice tour buddy! quite the collection! what I've only seen once, a guy up the road from me a small black sled with a concave hood, with a square headlight in the upper right corner, didn't see one in this collection, anybody know what that sled might've been?
My dad had an old Polaris has all metal body everything and the engine in the back and a shifter it did go even in reverse with them even back then skid wood with it to their very powerful little sleds
I had a 1970 arctic cat panther with a 399 Kohler I spend all kinds money try to get that 399 Kohler to run right.. i rebuild the motor and still didn't run right I even send it to a arctic cat deal and see if they could get it run right and they couldn't . that arctic cat dealer told me 1970 399 Kohler is a bad design motor cuz it had only 1 carburetor with 2 cylinder motor and carburetor was laying vertical instead laying down this was back in mid and late 80's
Funny how seeing so many Sled I had as a Youngin....musta owed 20 or more brings back the good old days went everyone could afford them ehhhhhh!!!!!! 20.000-30.000$ .....SICK💩🇨🇦.... HEAD'S UP STICK ON THE ICE🏒🏒🏒🏒
@@jeremycarey6627Just the centrifugal clutch on those motors is worth $100, the rest of the drive is worth a lot too, gears, sprockets, jackshafts, variable pulleys like the cars have today a CVT "continuously variable transmission" those gear reductions and overdrives are wild, I had a 1963 TOTE GOTE , it had a tiny 3.5 hp Briggs & Stratton motor but with the CVT drive it pulled like a tractor at launch, if you floored it you wheelied easily, they did not coast at all, as soon as you let off the gas the engine braking was very strong so much so that making a u turn was tricky unless you kept the throttle on enough to not allow engine braking mid turn, I had a POWELL Super Challenger that had a pivot for the engine that allowed it to tilt forwards or rearwards which made the drive belt engage further down in the V of the drive pulley for top end but less quickness or tilt the engine back and the belt engages at the outer perimeter of the driven pulley which is like how a 10 speed bicycle operates, 2 sprockets up front and 5 in back for 10 speeds only these use continuously variable pulleys that operate inversely proportional to each other for infinite ranges from tree climbing slow to fast top end speed.
Thanks good walk no goofy music.
Those old sleds brought back memories of walking home when the sled left us stranded
So cool, thanks for documenting these machines for posterity.
Thank you
Wow, that must have been a fantastic auction. Terrific collection of vintage sleds. Thanks for filming this, I enjoyed it.

heartland96a I agree, I also had experienced the Darwinism in snowmobile design which you described....

Thanks. I thought the same as I walked these isles of evolutionary history.
I've never seen some of those old sleds till this video it's amazing how old sleds like those are still in one pice.
I agree most of those old sleds people just parked them in the weeds when they upgraded and you look at these ones and realize just about everyone was making them
Omg I'm only 1;28 into this vid and am already in heaven. what an awesome collection wowzer's thought I was bad for having 14 sled's lol

For as old as most of them are they look completer and in very good shape!
A little power wash, couple of new NGK plugs, good as new !
The Polaris rush looks nice, at the very beginning
Holy Smokes!! I didn't know that there were this many types & brands of Snowmobiles. Thanks for the post! Now am wondering as to what was the very first one & what year some of those were.
First one is a Polaris Rush, not sure of the year.
Only one I didn't see in that lineup is a JC Penny's Manhandler. Some friends used to have a purple one from Hayfield Ia.

Wow that was like going back in time amazing video if guys only knew the slides that we’re back in the day
I saw my old ski door Olympic and my Yamaha GP 338.
Ride it for 10 minutes and work on it for 3 days!
Idk what you mean by that. My first sled was a 76 polaris. It was already over 20yr old when i started riding it and it was bought non running from a junkyard. Cleaned the fuel system. @@Tshizzle42o you never had 65 Johnson Ski Horse.

Some crazy machines there
I prefer double tracks. My first snowmobile, was a SkiDoo Alpine with a Rotax 305.
I miss my ol sleds now,,lol
I am at 6:00 and I already know I am going to watch this again.

At 18:28 There’s a Boa-Ski 😊
@@alrossi2573 ya I see it now, my father had one like that and my mother had one with two head lights.
@@joedirt9600 That’s so cool! Great memories for sure.
Now that is vintage alright
I would of bought a least 5 to ten sleds if I’ve known about this

Would liked to have seen the sale
I believe the purple viking is a rare sled only produced one year
The Sno Ghia had me stumped till I saw the name better . One I thought J.C. Pennys might have sold was a ski daddler
Sears and Montgomery Wards , wow .
The enclosed one has 65 chev taillights
You stop looking once you wore the heads off the two Jefferson’s in your pocket? Can’t kick tires here.
there all beat but its a start
This is insane. Anyone know what that minibike thing is at 14:15?
I wonder if it was an early Herters made or sold out of Waseca minn. Herters used to have a catalog and store.
No raider snowmobiles?
8:42 minutes in.
1:07 Never knew Arctic Cat had a Cougar model back then!!! 20:12 Can anyone tell me what that is???
Cougar: Sure did; 67-68 85-98. That one is about 1967. Snow-Sport was made by Rupp. www.vintagesnowmobiles.50megs.com/1969_RUPP_BROCHURE_MAIN.html
Was this 1 man's collection?
Yes, this was part of his estate sale. Even his brother was shocked at the number of sleds he had collected.
My wife wouldn't want me at this auction.
1963 fox Trac for sale here
Way better than porn....
Ya looks like they all need work,,,,
At 4:33 you’ll see a cat with a wankel!!
