Arifureta was one of the original big isekai stories. It came from the same era as Mushoku Tensei (started about a year after Mushoku) and was the original "edgy" power fantasy isekai story. It's actually still ongoing with over 500 chapters and counting (plus a prequel!), though the main story finished at around 175 chapters in counting from the WN. It's not quite as edgy or dark as some later isekai stories with more of a comedic lilt to things present throughout, but it was definitely one of the more edgier isekai stories from that era IMO. One of the more endearing parts of it to me is how loyal the main character is to his main romantic interest both in terms of just how much he shows he loves her no matter the circumstances, but also with how he flatly rejects the advances of other girls (often in hilarious ways). He does cave eventually, but it's only after quite a bit and with her permission. In a world where most main characters are too shy to even show a little bit of affection in anyway whatsoever, Hajime gets a lot of points from me for that. Also, Hajime is the best daddy. The first season of the Arifureta anime suffered from severe production issues. That is to say, the author looked at what the studio had initially produced and basically scrapped the entire thing because it was apparently so bad. The studio then had to redo everything from scratch in a very limited amount of time, which resulted in a rather subpar product overall. And when I say subpar, I mean REALLY subpar. It makes me wonder how bad the original was that the version that was released was considered better somehow. It was still fairly popular though and sold well enough to get more seasons afterwards that didn't have the production side issues the first season had. For me personally, Arifureta is one of my more personal favorite anime. It just has the right amount of edge and fantasy that tickles just the right spot, you know? It doesn't go overboard with the darkness and it has the sense of adventure and discovery that I find lacking in more cookie cutter stories these days. Definitely a recommendation from me! Also, I find it funny how cool Luke finds Hajime's outfit. He shares the same aesthetic sense as Hajime, apparently! Wonder if he'd cringe quite as hard as Hajime too, lol.
I only watched Season 1, because at that time there was no Season 2 and so far I haven't gone back to it. But something I like about Hajime is that, at least in Season 1, he is a No Bullshit Character. Like you see him and you think "he looks edgy and badass" and that's what he is. His design reflects his Character pretty well.

@@GZCoo As PersonaSXM mentioned, season 1 was really bad, both in terms of animation and storytelling (they cut out so much stuff, that non LN readers had no way of properly understanding what's going on). Fortunately starting with season 2 they fixed the pacing and upgraded the animation, making it a pretty good anime.

This anime is actually pretty good if you can get past the bad CGI in season 1 but it does improve a lot in later seasons and the MC is great as well. He's not the stereotypical dense MC you see in most Harem animes. He bangs a lot although off screen.
Whoa, glad to see you react to Arifureta’s OPs. I highly recommend the EDs as well. They are also VERY good. As for your questions… 1. Hajime (MC) IS actually a very cool protagonist. I don’t think you’ve seen it yet, but it’s similar to Shield Hero where the MC grows EXPONENTIALLY from the beginning of the anime by overcoming some pretty horrible circumstances. He’s also a “no nonsense” MC unlike most harem MC’s (you’ll see with my next point). 2. About the harem…oh no, Hajime is WELL aware that his harem is into him and just doesn’t care that they follow him. Also, unlike most harems, Hajime does have a legitimate lover in the group (won’t really spoil it, but considering how much more emphasis one of the girls gets in the OPs, probably not hard to figure out who that lover is). 3. You did have the S3 OPs in the wrong order, but it doesn’t really matter that much. Arifureta’s OPs don’t really spoil much, so a neutral viewer won’t know the difference. 4. Is Arifureta worth watching? Eh, yes and no? The first season has some pretty bad flaws, but I won’t lie, I kinda consider this show a guilty pleasure because I find it so enjoyable that I can kinda overlook the flaws. Knowing your taste in anime and your ability to overlook production flaws for enjoyability, I do think you’d thoroughly enjoy Arifureta. I kinda feel bad for this show because I think if a better production company did the first season, Arifureta would be more popular.
Oh god, season 2 OP is so good and underrated. Definitely check out the EDs too. And nah, the relationship between MC and his love interest is actually great and not at all how you'd suspect. OP 2 and 3 are by Mindaryn who made your favorite Slime OP
Yet again, something I wasn't expecting, but something I'm really glad happended. I'm not sure how majority of people see arifureta, but for me it is very special and the openings as well as endings, even the mostly jazzy ost of the anime itself - i love it all.
Gonna note 1 thing about this opening list: the 3rd opening in this video is the current last opening if I'm right (Seasons 3 opening 2 if i'm right...haven't seen the last coupel episodes so it was probably just introduced) while the 4th opening in your video is the season 3 opening 1 as that was the opening that this season started with in episode 1 of season 3 (so they got swapped around). As for why Season 3 has 2 opening it's because occasionally (not all the time) some anime will change the opening mid season if it has more than 12/13 episodes and instead has 24 to 26 opening (Code Geass is the best example of this and an anime you watched...Gundam does this a lot too with their series that are more than 13 episodes long). This is especially done when the series is broken up into different seasons and has 1 or 2 seasons (3 to 6 months) breaks in between seasons or it's a long running anime (One Piece, Bleach, Naruto are the easiest examples of this later case). Arifureta's seasons before this were only 12 episodes if I'm right but given this new opening is around I imagine it'll be a 24 episode season (and no breaks for once). Which I wouldn't be surprised that it got it as the series has become more popular over the years (probably due to the anime) so it's more or less a mid size anime nowadays (not Bleach/Naruto sized but well known enough liek say Re:Zero, Steain's Gate, etc that most people familiar with anime probably know of the series now). Now as for your theories...well I'll just say I was laughing a lot with some of them (wont' say which) but it will be funny to see your reaction if/when you decide to watch this series (or when the community votes for it I guess). I'd say it's a solid 8/10 series though and would say it's enjoyable to watch.

I will give fair warning: Season 1 went through a bit of "development hell" so it's simultaneously sub-par *and* super-awesome. They had to basically rush a patch-job in the 11th hour after the whole project was moved to an entirely different *studio!* So it's an *incredibly* awesome season, held together with spackle, duct tape, hopes, and dreams. Honestly, what brings it all together for me is the voice acting. The voices, _especially_ Yue, Tio, and Myuu (won't spoil which ones those are and I'M SURE NO ONE ELSE WILL EITHER...), are *absolute* [chef's kiss]. The rest are super good, too, the Openings as you saw are amazing, and the story is _still_ super awesome. And by Season 2, they ironed out most of the issues with production and went above and beyond. I almost wish they could have gone back and done a "re-mastered" Season 1, but, honestly, I think it's better to "keep moving forward". For anyone curious about the whole S1 controversy, apparently it was originally with White Fox studio (Re:Zero studio), but like 80% through production the author of the original LN saw the work and threw a whole hissy fit about how "awful" it was, how the character designs "made him want to puke", just totally ripped it to shreds and said he'd rather pull the project than let it be released in that state. He claimed they were "trashing his story", basically, and he'd rather see it die and take the financial loss than let his LN be associated with such an "awful anime". So the project was moved from White Fox to a second studio (can't recall the name off the top of my head), and almost *all* the existing work was scrapped. And that's one of the big issues a lot of fans have; we *only* have the author's say on how bad that original work was because it was basically all destroyed during the transfer so we have _no clue_ as to whether it was a justifiable reaction to a genuinely awful product (hard to imagine WF doing *that* bad since ReZero is so damn good); or if it was a massive over-reaction that set back the project massively and resulted in an final product that was far worse than it could have been. We just don't know. But *regardless* of production quality, Season 1 was successful enough to earn a Season 2 _and_ a Season 3; so they *must* have done _something_ right in all that. Still, though, the LN *is* the absolute superior experience of the story. If someone had to pick one and only one way to experience it, I'd say "read the LN" hands-down. The Anime only falters because it's a 500% awesome series that was cut down to a "mere" 120% awesome due to production fumbles.
Arifureta - from commonplace to world's strongest.. quite a mouthful. Opening 1 had me sold on it on first sight. I like the show till this day, I wish it had the budget and the glory it deserved. And then it got better. Sometimes dreams come true afterall. :D
The series is about a secondary class and its teacher who are teleported to an isekai to fight a war against demons and the protagonist is a synergist (alchemical master) something like in Full Metal Alchemist, hence he uses weapons and so on. because by the way he is an otaku and he has a hard time at first until he changes when he falls to the bottom of a dungeon due to the act of a bully from his class who likes the girl who is in love with the protagonist and out of jealousy and envy he tries to kill him and that's why he falls into the abyss and ps there he suffers his change and power up and you will see the rest in the series
The first opening is one of my favorites of all time. Fun fact: I only watched this anime because I realized that I like a lot of anime that other people hate and this was the most hated anime at the time, so I thought why not try it for the lulz... I will say the first 4 episodes of the anime are some of the best I've ever seen. I love how dungeon-crawly it feels. Afterwards it unfortunately gets worse. Only the main character remains amazing throughout the show.
Arifureta might have ugly CGI (which doesn't even matter for me when it's smooth and well animated) and incredibly rushed pacing but it absolutely doesn't play by the rules and doesn't care about anything but making it fun

Nah the main character is actually kind of the opposite of what you are thinking . He is pretty well-written (Kind of a mixture of Sasuke and Shikamaru)😅😅The story is solid good and amazing . The show isn't that well-popular , sadly . 16:38 This is one of the reason the show has a bit low popularity . I haven't watched season 3 but the show would give heavy animation to character looks/design but has a really terrible CGI for inhumane creatures/monsters . The other bad part of this is the anime is kind of badly adapted (Enjoyable because of the main character and the girls only...) . Like it cuts SOOOOO much amazing stuff and even of the story/character related stuff . I still remember even while watching one episode in season 1 felt REALLY badly adapted like just from anime it looked like they cut an entire arc of a few episodes into just a 2-3 minutes of montage and explained nothing about some stuff . Season 2 did got better with animation and stuff but honestly I feel like Arifureta is a solid Light Novel which deserved better studio . You can actually understand this by just watching like first 5-6 episodes . It starts amazing because the story is that good but than the adaption gets bad and the focus is only given to the main character while cutting so much which ruins the anime . Though . if you bare with the confusion and mad animation you would enjoy the story and the "plot" .
Some of the most underrated anime openings over the last few years season 1 animation was a little hit and miss but from that point on it is very enjoyable.
So this is an Isekei, but its not typical. The MC is NOT oblivious to the women around him. He is not someone who starts overpowered for the sake of it, but actually has a reason for how he became so powerful. I hope you watch it!

Hands down Hajime is easily one of the most badass and cool isekai MC of all time. I highly recommend that you react to the series. Its overlooked by some as typical isekai, but IMO its unique and a hidden gem.
You should absolutely watch this! First season animation is a bit rough (due to low budget), but it improves greatly as it goes. Hands down my favorite isekai! I love protagonists who don't spend an eternity moralizing when fighting their enemies and just do what needs to be done like a proper 80's action hero! And the heroines are interesting as well. In fact, just think of this show as an 80's action flick (complete with explosions, guns, cars, and a whole harem of love interests) mixed with an isekai and you'd be pretty spot on. Fair warning: it does come with plenty of fan service though, just in case that isn't your thing 😉

if you want a little synopsis for the anime, yes it's an isekai, but for the main cause of the story man is betrayed and crawls out from the abyss, much darker than he was before. his main goal is to go home, but ends up with a harem and a bit of a twisted personality.

eh, it isn't that he is not interested in them, he just isn't shallow. he is a bit jaded and needs to warm up to people first. He is the type of person who is honest about his feelings and needs strong attachments before romance even comes to mind.

As for your questions…
1. Hajime (MC) IS actually a very cool protagonist. I don’t think you’ve seen it yet, but it’s similar to Shield Hero where the MC grows EXPONENTIALLY from the beginning of the anime by overcoming some pretty horrible circumstances. He’s also a “no nonsense” MC unlike most harem MC’s (you’ll see with my next point).
2. About the harem…oh no, Hajime is WELL aware that his harem is into him and just doesn’t care that they follow him. Also, unlike most harems, Hajime does have a legitimate lover in the group (won’t really spoil it, but considering how much more emphasis one of the girls gets in the OPs, probably not hard to figure out who that lover is).
3. You did have the S3 OPs in the wrong order, but it doesn’t really matter that much. Arifureta’s OPs don’t really spoil much, so a neutral viewer won’t know the difference.
4. Is Arifureta worth watching? Eh, yes and no? The first season has some pretty bad flaws, but I won’t lie, I kinda consider this show a guilty pleasure because I find it so enjoyable that I can kinda overlook the flaws. Knowing your taste in anime and your ability to overlook production flaws for enjoyability, I do think you’d thoroughly enjoy Arifureta. I kinda feel bad for this show because I think if a better production company did the first season, Arifureta would be more popular.

Yet again, something I wasn't expecting, but something I'm really glad happended.
I'm not sure how majority of people see arifureta, but for me it is very special and the openings as well as endings, even the mostly jazzy ost of the anime itself - i love it all.
Gonna note 1 thing about this opening list: the 3rd opening in this video is the current last opening if I'm right (Seasons 3 opening 2 if i'm right...haven't seen the last coupel episodes so it was probably just introduced) while the 4th opening in your video is the season 3 opening 1 as that was the opening that this season started with in episode 1 of season 3 (so they got swapped around).
As for why Season 3 has 2 opening it's because occasionally (not all the time) some anime will change the opening mid season if it has more than 12/13 episodes and instead has 24 to 26 opening (Code Geass is the best example of this and an anime you watched...Gundam does this a lot too with their series that are more than 13 episodes long). This is especially done when the series is broken up into different seasons and has 1 or 2 seasons (3 to 6 months) breaks in between seasons or it's a long running anime (One Piece, Bleach, Naruto are the easiest examples of this later case).
Arifureta's seasons before this were only 12 episodes if I'm right but given this new opening is around I imagine it'll be a 24 episode season (and no breaks for once). Which I wouldn't be surprised that it got it as the series has become more popular over the years (probably due to the anime) so it's more or less a mid size anime nowadays (not Bleach/Naruto sized but well known enough liek say Re:Zero, Steain's Gate, etc that most people familiar with anime probably know of the series now).
Now as for your theories...well I'll just say I was laughing a lot with some of them (wont' say which) but it will be funny to see your reaction if/when you decide to watch this series (or when the community votes for it I guess). I'd say it's a solid 8/10 series though and would say it's enjoyable to watch.
Oh boy, the moment you react to this anime, there will be a riot.

Luke, if you like Void Chords featuring Lio(OP1)you should check out Tribe Nine (ED1 although Miyavi's OP1 is kickass too) and Princess Principal (OPs and EDs) has Void Chords with other vocalists. Mindaryn (OP2, OP3 and OP4) puts out great OPs and EDs as well. You're right about hearing Mindaryn before, she did work on Slime.
I will say I love that Void Chords did opening 1 and Mindaryn did opening 2 and then the two came together to do opening 3 ^^

I will give fair warning: Season 1 went through a bit of "development hell" so it's simultaneously sub-par *and* super-awesome. They had to basically rush a patch-job in the 11th hour after the whole project was moved to an entirely different *studio!* So it's an *incredibly* awesome season, held together with spackle, duct tape, hopes, and dreams.
Honestly, what brings it all together for me is the voice acting. The voices, _especially_ Yue, Tio, and Myuu (won't spoil which ones those are and I'M SURE NO ONE ELSE WILL EITHER...), are *absolute* [chef's kiss]. The rest are super good, too, the Openings as you saw are amazing, and the story is _still_ super awesome. And by Season 2, they ironed out most of the issues with production and went above and beyond. I almost wish they could have gone back and done a "re-mastered" Season 1, but, honestly, I think it's better to "keep moving forward".
For anyone curious about the whole S1 controversy, apparently it was originally with White Fox studio (Re:Zero studio), but like 80% through production the author of the original LN saw the work and threw a whole hissy fit about how "awful" it was, how the character designs "made him want to puke", just totally ripped it to shreds and said he'd rather pull the project than let it be released in that state. He claimed they were "trashing his story", basically, and he'd rather see it die and take the financial loss than let his LN be associated with such an "awful anime".
So the project was moved from White Fox to a second studio (can't recall the name off the top of my head), and almost *all* the existing work was scrapped. And that's one of the big issues a lot of fans have; we *only* have the author's say on how bad that original work was because it was basically all destroyed during the transfer so we have _no clue_ as to whether it was a justifiable reaction to a genuinely awful product (hard to imagine WF doing *that* bad since ReZero is so damn good); or if it was a massive over-reaction that set back the project massively and resulted in an final product that was far worse than it could have been. We just don't know.
But *regardless* of production quality, Season 1 was successful enough to earn a Season 2 _and_ a Season 3; so they *must* have done _something_ right in all that. Still, though, the LN *is* the absolute superior experience of the story. If someone had to pick one and only one way to experience it, I'd say "read the LN" hands-down. The Anime only falters because it's a 500% awesome series that was cut down to a "mere" 120% awesome due to production fumbles.

Opening 1 had me sold on it on first sight. I like the show till this day, I wish it had the budget and the glory it deserved.

The series is about a secondary class and its teacher who are teleported to an isekai to fight a war against demons and the protagonist is a synergist (alchemical master) something like in Full Metal Alchemist, hence he uses weapons and so on. because by the way he is an otaku and he has a hard time at first until he changes when he falls to the bottom of a dungeon due to the act of a bully from his class who likes the girl who is in love with the protagonist and out of jealousy and envy he tries to kill him and that's why he falls into the abyss and ps there he suffers his change and power up and you will see the rest in the series

The first opening is one of my favorites of all time.
Fun fact: I only watched this anime because I realized that I like a lot of anime that other people hate and this was the most hated anime at the time, so I thought why not try it for the lulz... I will say the first 4 episodes of the anime are some of the best I've ever seen. I love how dungeon-crawly it feels. Afterwards it unfortunately gets worse. Only the main character remains amazing throughout the show.
Until you read the Light Novel and the Manga you'll change your opinion about this anime

Nah the main character is actually kind of the opposite of what you are thinking . He is pretty well-written (Kind of a mixture of Sasuke and Shikamaru)😅😅The story is solid good and amazing . The show isn't that well-popular , sadly .

I haven't watched season 3 but the show would give heavy animation to character looks/design but has a really terrible CGI for inhumane creatures/monsters . The other bad part of this is the anime is kind of badly adapted (Enjoyable because of the main character and the girls only...) . Like it cuts SOOOOO much amazing stuff and even of the story/character related stuff . I still remember even while watching one episode in season 1 felt REALLY badly adapted like just from anime it looked like they cut an entire arc of a few episodes into just a 2-3 minutes of montage and explained nothing about some stuff .
Season 2 did got better with animation and stuff but honestly I feel like Arifureta is a solid Light Novel which deserved better studio . You can actually understand this by just watching like first 5-6 episodes . Though . if you bare with the confusion and mad animation you would enjoy the story and the "plot" .

This anime does NOT have an oblivious main character, He meets the small blond in episode 3 and is raw dogging her by episode 5.
So this is an Isekei, but its not typical. The MC is NOT oblivious to the women around him. He is not someone who starts overpowered for the sake of it, but actually has a reason for how he became so powerful. I hope you watch it!

Hands down Hajime is easily one of the most badass and cool isekai MC of all time. I highly recommend that you react to the series. Its overlooked by some as typical isekai, but IMO its unique and a hidden gem.

I love this series, the first season animation is kinda rough but overall I love the series.
Arifureta is great anime... One of the best isekai animes I have ever seen. The main character carries it.
You should absolutely watch this! First season animation is a bit rough (due to low budget), but it improves greatly as it goes. Hands down my favorite isekai! I love protagonists who don't spend an eternity moralizing when fighting their enemies and just do what needs to be done like a proper 80's action hero! And the heroines are interesting as well. In fact, just think of this show as an 80's action flick (complete with explosions, guns, cars, and a whole harem of love interests) mixed with an isekai and you'd be pretty spot on. Fair warning: it does come with plenty of fan service though, just in case that isn't your thing 😉
It would be nice if you would direct this series, it's one of my favorites, currently the third season is running and the series is really good.

if you want a little synopsis for the anime, yes it's an isekai, but for the main cause of the story man is betrayed and crawls out from the abyss, much darker than he was before. his main goal is to go home, but ends up with a harem and a bit of a twisted personality.

It's really something that annoys me at times. I wish there were more Anime that would give the main love interested to the Female Character that are not just nice.

But I am the same as you, many people shit on Isekai's because most are so similar and it just seems really bad to them. For me? it's awesome. It's like getting your favorite Ice Cream with a new taste. Some turn out not to your liking but others you like a lot. For me the whole Isekai setting is jus very interesting and enjoyable.

eh, it isn't that he is not interested in them, he just isn't shallow. he is a bit jaded and needs to warm up to people first.
He is the type of person who is honest about his feelings and needs strong attachments before romance even comes to mind.
