I've had L3-L5 Fusion, L5-S1 laminectomy, and now need PLIF L5-S1 along with osteophyte removal and some widening of spine due to stenosis. Numbness, weakness in both legs. Walking now is like walking through water so I understand how you feel. Shame on your wife for leaving. You're proving to be a true survivor 💪
Glad that the back surgery works for some people. It left me totally disabled. Loss 75 percent of my left leg. Pain is worse..Found out who your true friends family are.. God bless everyone here..
Stitch, I am sorry to here about failed back surgery. I have to have my third back surgery in a week a L5 and L4 double cage and double fusion. I hope this works or I will be joining you. It sucks and I hope you find the strength to take it one day at a time. Take care and you have my best wishes for you.
Stitch what happened to your left leg? I am experiencing excruciating left leg nerve pain and it’s extremely weak. Surgeon says it’s just “post surgical pain” and that it will go away with the help of PT etc. Is this similar or different than what you’re experiencing?

I’m so sorry that is what has happened to you,, I agree with you though after my wife left me shortly after surgery he definitely find out who your true friends and family really are! God bless you my friend and I hope that you are managing your pain one way or another. I too am losing function of my right leg more and more as time goes on
I’m so thankful I found your channel! I just had my spinal fusion surgery done a month ago and I’m quite scared of how it will turn out after a year. I’m still in pain and I don’t know how the future holds for me. I’m sorry about your wife. Her loss not yours. 😢 You deserve better; you’re a great dad! 🤲🏼 Wishing more blessings to you and your kids, and painless recovery for you. ❤All the best!
Adam… you don’t know how much of a blessing you are. And I pray that God will comfort you brother. I too was an avid weight lifter and a runner due to me being in law enforcement, but after my car accident and surgery I gained 80 lbs and I got back into the gym. I can’t deadlift or do heavy squat anymore but you motivated me and with God anything is possible. Keep inspiring my brother. God bless you
Hi Adam. I had my spine fused on L5-S1 after a year of oxy and morphine use. I have had the same issues as you. I am currently facing threats of unemployment, yet I do not fear it anymore. God has a purpose for us all. I have a very supportive wife and 8 year old son. These 2 people have kept me going. Just getting dressed has become such a problem, but thanks to God I have 2 very special people helping me. This spinal problem has also left me with numbness and tingling in my left foot. It sometimes is severe, but it's far better then the pain I had in my buttocks and leg before. The future holds many unknowns for me and my family, but I know God holds all the keys to open the correct doors to our future. My back has caused me many tears lots of pain, tears of confusion, tears of the unknown, but also tears of JOY. Just very sad it took me to have a spinal fusion to realize, I nearly lost my wife and child. Everyday I drifted just a little further away. I thanks God, because my back surgery brought me back. HOPE YOU HAVE A FUTURE FILLED WITH LOVE AND JOY. It's ultimately what life is about. PS. When I watch your video I see myself. Look extremely hard on the outside, but very humble and caring on the inside.
Adam,I thank you so much for your video at one year. I’m at 4.5 mos after fusion/decompression of L3,4,5 and at 74 yrs old, this hasn’t been easy! I too spent the first two mos in my recliner but walking every day (hanging onto the walker). I can walk upright now, still with my walker though and try to do at least a mile each day. You’re so right about the leg/foot nerve pains…just awful, and I rely on gabapentin 2x/day. Also, you’re absolutely right about storms and humid weather being hard on us!! Not sure how this Michigan winter will be for me. 6 mos before the Fusion, had surgery for a torn rotator cuff and bicep repair, so was just finishing up PT for that. My arm still feels the bad weather too! At 7 weeks post fusion,my daughter got married and I was the ‘mother of the bride’, so we had to drive 5 hours away for the wedding. But, I made it with SO many prayers and the grace of God. I love your ending message of ‘Stay strong, my friends’. We are in this together, and my prayers for you and all those trying to overcome! This is quite the journey, isn’t it?
I had a microdisectomy 7 months ago - it’s gone well but it’s been a long recovery - it’s a lonely and sometimes dark place - I’m getting through to the other side now - wishing you every success and continued progression and happiness also - thank you for being so inspiring and helping me in that way 👍🏼
Thank you, my friend! Yes, I know how dark it can get, it comes and goes overtime in the darkness does become a bit easier to go through alone, but it never goes away fully even when you’re surrounded by people it just feels like no one can understand what it’s like to be in nonstop pain
Hi Adam, I’m in the hospital right now healing from my 3rd fusion attempt for S1-L5. Loved this video you made because as my tears of pain turned into tears of joy by the end of your video. Theres a lot of hidden blessings when going through back surgery. I’m 38 years old and lift weights and ride motorcycles. I’m slowly making smarter safety decisions now. The surgeries have made me more mature. You and me share the same lifestyle and we need to keep pushing to do the things we love, just slowly and more safely these days. God bless you Adam.
Thank you for these videos. I’m 10 days away from my 1 year anniversary of L5-S1 fusion and laminectomy and I completely relate to what you’re saying here about the good and bad of the surgery. I too am grateful for my surgeon, feel he was excellent, so no beef there. Like you, certain pains have disappeared (shooting pain through groin and hips) while new issues have arisen, primarily right lower leg and foot pain and tingling. Doctor told me it was normal for up to around 11 months while the nerves were healing. Well 11.5 months have passed and right foot is still bad. Doc is great, took my concern seriously and did another set of X-rays on me this week. They found the three discs above my fusion site have already decompressed in less than a year and started talking about another fusion. There’s no way in hell I will put myself through that again unless I’m so bad I cannot get out of bed, especially if it’s just going to continue to climb up my spine with each surgery. Prior to surgery Doc did warn me that this was a slight possibility (I think he said it happens in 10% of cases). But I thought even if it did happen, I would get another 10 years before it came to that, not 10 months! Trying to stay positive but it is hard, especially now that I know there is no end in site, that the pain is only going to get worse from here, not better. Hardest part is letting go of my identity. For example, I loved to backcountry hike. Now there’s no way I can see throwing a big pack on my back for four days now and sleeping in a tent on a thin sleeping mat. Lots of other things I loved to do and who made me who I am I am now mourning the loss of. Next phase of my journey will be trying to find new passions that don’t require as much physicality so I can start to find joy in life again. My friends and family have all been very supportive, I’m so blessed that way. But even I’m getting sick of complaining about my pain, lol, I can’t imagine how they feel. I try to keep my complaints to a minimum because I can’t expect them to possibly understand what I’m experiencing and it’s been a year of me moaning and griping but it’s really hard. I honestly think the mental battle is even harder than the physical one, and that was something I was never expecting prior to having surgery.
I'm a personal trainer, cardio / aqua instructor and Yoga Teacher for 23 years. I Am having spinal fusion procedure at the end of this month. I hope to get back to my classes as soon as I can. Literally just came across your channel, as I am in two worlds of having a fusion done.. Been in constant pain for a little under 5 years (since just after and just before two pregnancies), competed in the IFBB, and just over a year ago my back completely gave in and I haven't been able to train, golf or even walk far, as it results in me flat in bed due to the pain. Your videos have really opened my eyes to the possibility of actually going through with it! Looking forward to having a more normal life and actually being able to play with my kids!
Thank you for your inspiring story. I’m 2.5 months post L5-S1 anterior posterior 360 degree fusion. Today I was experiencing a mental and physical challenge and I went to RUclips and came across your channel. After watching your videos, you gave me a peace of mind. Thanks for the videos and I wish you the best in this journey. God bless you
Hello my friend!!! Well I’m very grateful you have found the channel and I hope it continues to bring you some inspiration!! How are you feeling now, about 3 months post surgery now right?

@@healing2gether better than I have for many years! Still in a heap of pain and taking things 1 day at a time, but feeling little improvements every day. Already way more mobile than I was pre surgery, and ready to live life again mate 👍🏼
How bad where you before surgery? I’m still able to walk do what I have to do but i can’t even bend over without the fear of causing a shock wave go down my right leg.
When is God going to let me rest. Hits home Adam on so many levels! we have very similar pasts and Iv said this all the time in my head The mind f SO real I wonder if I’m going crazy, then I watch you and that gives me purpose someone that has gone through it and speaks of it, not just people looking at you crazy when your hurting. You truly don’t understand unless you’ve been though it. Almost 5 months out of Spinal fusion L-4 L-5 still good and bad days.
Also on an exercise note before surgery I used to do sits ups working out to tone my stomach, after surgery I’m lost on this planking crap to tone my stomach… help what can I do
Fusing my L5 S1 tomorrow at Andrew’s Sports Medicine in Birmingham. They seem to be pretty successful at what they do, they’ve treated a bunch of pro athletes and their signed jerseys are all over their wall. My pain is lower back but the worst part is the numbness and restlessness feeling down my left leg. Hoping it all gets fixed tomorrow but knowing full well I’ll never be able to do the things I used to do afterwards. Your video is really encouraging for me and I really appreciate you telling your story - well said words I needed to hear!
Ok my friend my prayers are with you!!! Please post when you are up to it and let me know how you are doing after surgery!! Remember to expect some hard ass physical and mental shit…but looking at your profile pic I know you can get through it brother!!! I’m with you!
I have been told by my neurosurgeon that I need the L5S1 fusion done. I have suffered from lower back pain for over 10yrs. I am a recently single mother and am very much afraid of getting the surgery done. I have leg pain, numbness and more issues caused by this. Watching your videos have helped me with understanding what this will mean for me. I plan to watch more of your videos. Thank you for putting yourself out there like this to educate others. I am still hesitant. I worry about the pros and cons.
You are smart to be hesitant, especially as a single mother. The reality is that you will need somebody else in your house taking care of you and your child for a while after the surgery. Simple things like loading the dishwasher or doing laundry will be difficult for a while. Also, you will have a very severe lifting restriction for quite a long time so if your kiddo is small, you will not be able to pick them up or carry them (I’m talking like for a year post surgery). I went through it myself a year ago (L5-S1 fusion with laminectomy). It is the absolute hardest thing I’ve been through in my life. The physical toll is real but the mental toll is is even harder. Just like you said you’re doing, weigh the pros and cons and keep educating yourself. If you can live day to day without being in unbearable pain, perhaps think about postponing the surgery until your child has grown older and is more self-sufficient.
I just had my s1 l5 and l3 done 10 days ago, and came across your video, and i know your pain even the personal pain your video choked me up not inly were you informative but inspiring, my story is almost the same as yours, except i dont have any children but i know how it feels to lose one.....thank you for your inspired strength
Beyond grateful I found your videos on the fusion. I am in the exact same boat you were. blown out l5-s1 from accident 10+ years ago. Pharmaceuticals, Kratom and working through it to support your family! God bless you! Thank you for your honest opinions.
And you’ve been through a lot as well, and I’m grateful you found this channel and can join us in building this community, where we provide encouragement and support for others experiencing similar journeys as ourselves! God bless you as well my friend!
Hey Buddy, you are a trooper for certain! I am looking at a probable fusion the same as you had and am looking for any insight from those who have gone through this surgery. You are a champion every day just for being there for your children in the dynamically painful way that you are doing it. Carry on in your fight and know you are an inspiration to us all! God bless you and yours!
Congrats mate, Hope it continues to improve for you. One of the hardest things ive had to struggle is finding ways to utilize all the energy i have when i can hardly move most days.
I’m meeting with my neurosurgeon next week to schedule my L5 S1 spinal fusion. I’m 31 and have been putting it off for the last year because I was scared of recovery… Thank you for these videos I appreciate it. I’ve been trying to find a “recovery” video and I watched your first about the 0 gravity chair to here and I’m a tiny bit relived and less stressed.
I’m sorry that you’re experiencing this at such a young age, but if I can get through it I know you certainly can as well! Thank you for your support and I’m grateful that you appreciate the videos. Just remember, this is definitely a long-term process, things change and feel different from day today so if you can be prepared for that I’d say you are ahead of the game and ready! Prayers and blessings go out to you my friend!
@@healing2gether darn, getting mine this coming August. I hope I don’t wake up from surgery stiff and in need of constant PT. Are you glad you got the surgery
@@FromTheHood2TheWoods Yes I am very glad that I had surgery because I needed to have the chips of bone between my vertebrae removed, the pain was horrific every day
Listen to what he says at 4:56- get checked out and get fixed. Do not wait too long. I asked every physical therapist that I knew which spine surgeon (orthopedic spine or neurosurgeon) had the best outcomes. Your physical therapist sees the long term results of each surgeon. You should consider their advice more than anything. My surgeon came highly recommended by several of my colleagues (all physicians) but what gave me peace was that my physical therapist recommended him as well.
I’m 10 months out on spine fusion. Your words hold true on how i feel before storms. Sitting standing bending twisting. I work in a heavy equipment environment and was back at it 3 months after surgery. Love to work love to live. But it’s always a challenge.
@@supermushroom3175 I wouldn’t say I’m pain free. It’s kind of a dull sore pain though. It is tolerable and better than my original condition. Which I was not able to walk. Bending down to pick things up is where it becomes difficult.
@@dbsuz05 I have a painful annular tear on my L4-L5 and I'm in pain 24/7. I don't know what to do anymore. I have no quality of life. I had hopes that fusion could bring me relief but now I don't if it can 😞
I'm about to get a fusion surgery, and this video helps me with my nervousness about the healing process. I'm def gonna talk to one of my docs about Deca. I'm already doing TRT and it's been amazing.
You just inspired me to get in shape again. I was in a bad car accident when I was 25 and shattered my ankle and have hip& knee issues. Over the years I took pain meds so I could work( general contractor) I learned over the years that when you take pain meds for awhile you not only build up tolerance, but get phantom pain! Long story short doc put me on subs to get off pain pills( worse than pain meds to get off) and took kratom to get off subs!!! Ive been on kratom for a few years at small doses, but really affects my body temp, loss of motivation and cognitive issues( struggle to find words, spelling which I used to really good at) after first couple years and kills testosterone!!! Ive been thinking about going on testosterone replacement, but hear once you make that move you need them for life. Im 55 and at this point it just makes sense. I feel your pain brother!! Keep strong!!
Wanted to let you know I am praying for you and your family, I couldn't imagine how painful that would be to be separated from your children. Know that your strength does not lie in what you can do physically, or how you are doing emotionally but strength is a gift that comes from within and is deeply spiritual, I admire your courage in all this. Don't abandon yourself if your soul feels broken. Know God sees your pain, and knows your name and wants you to ask him to come and Give you strength. When we trust in the physical realm for healing it is distant and hard to grasp or obtain, sometimes it feels like trying to retain the fragrance of bluebell flowers in the spring, but... Heaven is filled with gifts beyond imagination that have been measured out for you and me ahead of time. The spirit of man is the light of the lord, and he uses it to search deeply within you to help you. I sense this deep sorrow in you, but he sees deeply, and he knows you intimately. Cry out to Jesus, and healing will come. I know it may seem cliche, but God has the ability to do far more than you can possibly imagine. He has healed my SI joint issues they are nearly non existent, after barely being able to walk. He has healed my chronic migraines from which I suffered for over 2 years every day, and now I am suffering from a C7 pinched nerve. It's debilitating some days, it's been going on since April, and I don't see an end in sight. I have lost 50% usage of my left arm. In addition I had Long Covid which has drastically affected my ability to do cardio exercise so I feel so discouraged that I cannot workout, do push-ups or any of that stuff that I used to be able to do. This of course effects what I am able to do for and with my three kids under 10. I feel like my weight is spiraling out of control at 5'5 and 260lbs. Yet in all this one thing remains steady day in, and day out. And that is the steadfast fullness of the love of Jesus who can relate to all of our pain, as he experienced it full force, with no pain medications when he gave his life for us on the cross. He knows us, and will help us to rely more on him through suffering as it builds within us perseverance. I believe to my core that he holds the keys to healing. I pray that he brings complete restoration to you, your family, and your body! God bless you for sharing your pain and story, thank you for being so raw and open. You are a Blessing!!
I'm so sorry you don't have your babies. I know from experience it hurts. Bad! And the two boys you have taking care of you, you're definitely blessed. I have my daughter who is 14yo that takes care of me too. Just one way they bless us. God bless you and your strength. This whole video hits me hard. Very relatable.

Jack Henderson Hi how are you today ? How is your situation now ? I am suffering from same problem and doctor is asking for fusion. Could you please pass me your experience ? May I contact you to hear from you ? Please. TIA
I want to say God Bless you, stay strong, most people can't comprehend what you're going through, you have wonderful kids and a great attitude, your will alone can get you through anything, not pushing religion but I have faith which has also helped me, I am on a estrogen patch because of the hysterectomy, I look forward to exercising after the bone growth solidifies, I have been doing a lot of cleaning and cooking (without bending) I use my knees but I too feel intense strain in my lower spine, it will take time to strengthen those low back muscles, I also take the same meds and feel the same way about the muscle relaxants, enjoyed your honesty about your experience, my best advice is to take one day at a time, try not to get overwhelmed, you will get through this.
Adam, our stories are eerily similar. I am 8 months post-op from an L5-S1 fusion, I have nerve damage down my butt and legs plus another one damaged from a bad implant of a spinal cord stimulator. Plus I still need another fusion in my neck. I spend 90% of my life is in bed! My "damage is already done" as well. My 15 year old son just had his done a few months after mine. It had been a slow recovery, and I’ve cried in frustration so many times, but coming along at 4 mos. You will too!
Hey man been following you and herd in a recent video your in PA. I'm in central PA.. Anyways I go in for L4 L5 fusion on Friday the 24th of March.. I've been dredding this but watching your videos has helped thank you...
Hey my friend, thank you!! I’ll be praying for you, where are you getting your surgery done? You’ll be ok, just remind yourself this is necessary to find relief from your pain!
Adam I am at 7 weeks PO and 6 weeks ahead on the physical side of healing but the biological side will be 2 more months. All I can say is very cool to be pain-free. I had Hip, Neck, then lumbar 3 summers. Worth my effort. I am now researching the effect of the spinal fluid flow and how it may affect the brain mental and other areas. @@healing2gether
My wife left me with my 15 year old daughter and my 13 year old son to raise on my own in 1999 when I was 45 yrs old…turned out to be the best thing ever happened to me😉
Wow my Friend…thank you for telling me that, it gives me hope!!! My sons and I are already seeing the benefits of her being gone. But we miss our babies more than words can express. But since she has left there’s been no yelling, no arguing, no anger expressed or displayed, no abuse anywhere, and my 12 and 14-year-old teenage sons are getting along better now than they ever have. And we laugh and enjoy each other and just enjoy life, despite the fact that 50% of the time I am immobile and in bed feeling like a broken man. But they are my hope and my sunshine even on the worst days. But being without my three babies has ripped my heart into pieces, there is nothing at all like having your children taken from you!!
I’m so sorry to hear about your children leaving with their mother. That Hass to be the worst possible pain you have my sympathy. Like to tell you a little bit about myself. I’m on the short side of 70 and when I was 27 years old I am listed in the Air Force to receive a course in Aircrash rescue after having been on a city fire department for seven years. I was involved in bodybuilding for most of my life, having use the pyramid system from low to moderate to heavy and back down again to fail. While I was in the Air Force I had an accident in tech school with a ruptured disc at L5 S one and I could not walk and I had to undergo surgery without fusion. Then the VA sent me to college and I got a degree in building engineering and worked selling construction and doing takeoffs on fire loss and designing and selling landscaping decks and patios additions etc. and kitchen cabinets. After 12 years my back acted up again I ended up with surgery at L4 L5 on both sides, and the surgery was repeated after six months due to an error by the surgeon. I wound up with arachnoiditis and chronic pain ever cents. I also have lupus so I’ve been in chronic pain of one form or another for the last 45 years. I’ve had an increase in pain in the last two years I had another MRI done and I have massive arthritis and bones growing into my spinal canal I have a severe spinal stenosis at L3 L4 I have a constant pain in my left leg going under my buttock into my groin down the back of my thigh sitting is the worst for me. I’ve recently gotten off of hydrocodone 10 325 and I’m now using Buechel strips it’s a milder opiate to try and awaken some of my receptors which sounds counterproductive and I may be in a situation where the nerves are feeling the pain too much after having been on that drug for 25 years. I back all that up with ibuprofen, aspirin, and Tylenol and gabapentin 900 MG per day. So I have had three back surgeries with no final spinal fusion as of yet however L4 L5 S one above used together naturally fused together. I was able to find my high school love after my second wife left and married her 20 years ago. I have some beautiful step children grandchildren and a wonderful family so there is always hope for you for happiness down the road. I wish you so much luck and good fortune. Keep in mind if a surgery is 90% successful that’s a success there are no 100% guarantees of a complete recovery after surgery and learning new things about this every day. B well my friend.
@@larryyouguessame6078 wow you sure have a journey, I’m so grateful that you shared that all with us. You’re a true fighter and that inspires me so much!!! Damn I am getting a 5 level fusion and hopefully my SI joint , I am 55 and now I work a very active physical job , I am scared shitless I am having it dec 8th of this year , I have lived on pain meds and sometimes I want to punch out and give up , I hope I can get better even 20-40 I will be happy, thank you for your honesty
Thank you for sharing i have watch so many of your videos and they have helped me this far spinal fusion L5 S1 was June 5 2023. I feel everything you are saying weather changes get me. My left hips is where my pain is since surgery
My thoughts and prayers go out to you my dear friend, the cold weather is coming here in Pennsylvania and I know it’s going to be a rough winter…I can feel it!
Thank you for your update. I am at 17 weeks post op and I watch your videos to learn and inspire from. S1-L5 fusion ALIF and PLIF when I didn't know what to expect week to week your videos helped me find courage.
I am about 10 days from my 6 month post op. I am doing fabulous. The pains that I feel are minor compared to pre surgery. I can live like this. I can do most anything pain free. I rarely have any pains. I am Blessed. It was hard. The recovery was exhausting and lonely. I knew my family needed a break from hearing about my healing pains. They lived with my chronic back pain. After about 2 months I tried to really minimize any conversation about my healing. If they asked I would say I am doing good. I could see the relief they felt. I knew things were going to be up and down for me. I needed to give them an emotional break. I found that watching videos and joining groups gave me a vent with other people who are experiencing what I am experiencing. I quickly realized that we all just want to get back to normal and we are afraid. Healing is painful. But. It's healing and that is a good thing. Am I perfect? For 6 months I am where I need to be. I am healing at my speed which is much faster than some and slower than others. I am working full time. I work in retail. I walk around, and stand for 40 hrs a week. I think it has helped me. Constantly walking with very little sitting. I am doing so good. I can pick up 40lbs from a squat with no issues. I haven't tried to run or jump yet. I was waiting to hit the 6 months for that. A few more days. My surgeon is sooo pleased with me. Poster child for the perfect outcome of a spinal fusion.
@@ruthannconway4971 Thank God. Sooo good to hear a positive story. I go in next month for my L5 S1 fusion. Been swimming and running every week. Trying to get in as best shape as possible before surgery. Thanks for sharing your story
Thanks for sharing! I really found what you said about the foundation pre-surgery, and then rebuilding upon the foundation. You already built very insightful. I would advise anyone about to have the surgery to form the best habits they can before the surgery because afterwards your body will more easily revert to the habit to established.
Just found you and your channel. Your incision looks like mine. Had my surgery in 2004 so its been a minute since my surgery. I must say you inspire me. I asked the man above to help me find someone or something so I don't feel like I'm alone and no one understands . Like you days before any weather change ,rain, humidity, cold, etc seems like its so much more painful then years ago. Just got my updated mri and it isn't what I wanted to hear but knew. Just was looking for anyone that may have had a surgery like mine and you popped up!! . Sounds like your also in Pennsylvania. Wow so sorry about your personal life you have a great attitude and know it hasn't been easy on some days. Hope to go back and watch your videos from the beginning. How do you feel if you sweep or stand doing dishes. God has blessed you to being able to work out like your body shows. I'm trying not being so depressed as its not something I've ever had any issues with. Thank you God answered my prayers and I found your channel and gives me some hope and that I'm not so alone. Blessings. Now for me on to your journey from the beginning !!!
I’m so grateful to hear your journey, thank you for sharing what you’re going through!! I’m sorry that you’re experiencing such ongoing struggles, I certainly do understand. Interestingly enough been really concerned lately about working out too hard again because I don’t want to cause further problems for my fusion which I’m starting to feel. You mentioned sweeping and dishes, and pretty much anything where I am slightly bent over it’s always very painful. Have you found a pretty helpful team management plan at least gives you some relief?
Dam what a story. I had my t12 compression fracture in the gym accident. No surgery. I’m super stressed if U can go back bc I’m 37 and been on the gym since 19. U give me hope. I’m watching what I eat. Sorry for u wife, her loss. Leaving her family…no words
Have you have you thought about removing your hardware from your spine? I've had a spinal fusion and I'm still in pain and it's been 8 months. I'm thinking of trying to find someone who will take the hardware out. Hopefully I'll be able to have less pain. Let me know if you thought about it. Thank you
Man brother... oh how well I know the struggle. I'm going though it every single minute of every single day. To day is one of those days I just wanna give up. The pain is just wearing me down. I hate these pills, I do like you. I started using kratom and it seems to help a little, but the pain just wears you down. Anyway thanks for the positive uplifting videos. They man me realize that I'm not the only one going through hell. Thanks brother. Stay safe and praying for all of us to find relief and happiness.
Man bro you are so right the daily pain just burns you up! But we have to get through it one way or another right? I found a way to cycle through pain pills and create them and take a break and just use ibuprofen and anti-inflammatories between weeks so that I stop becoming so dependent on just one thing but obviously that can be slightly dangerous due to constant fluctuating meds. So I don’t really advise it. What helps you the most manage your pain?
Yes titanium alloy screws and a small cage and plate. I didn’t leave my hardware in because more people that I speak with her problems that worsen after removing the hardware
Man you are awesome. There seem to be so few of us these days that actually enjoy manual labor and the satisfaction that comes with it. I share this with you and also love pumping iron and I take such pride in being a savage. Glad to hear that you are on the mend. Sorry to hear about the Mrs... Respect your body's boundaries and keep up your good attitude, energy and example for your boys. I am careful with my lower back when training. I'd rather not be injured than lift for ego. PS: Just ordered some Rugged Flex Rigby's from your older video. “No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.” ― Socrates
Wow sounds like we are certainly cut from the same cloth my friend! I am grateful for your message and certainly for similarities! And by the way I know you’ll love your rugged flex Rigbys! Thank you for the support for joining me on this journey!
I just had a 3rd back surgery and it was the most serious one as spinal fusion. I am 60 years old female. I am very interested in your recovery. So I am now 3 weeks out and I am doing well I think. Thank you for sharing.
I just had my second spinal fusion 5 months ago after the first one failed and I broke the screws….lost my 127k job over all this use to box and be active hard now thinking about getting a part time job still have a lot of pain in my lower back after I do just about anything
Wow…an amazing and encouraging story. My mother has to have the same surgery! Unfortunately, I’m just seeing these videos, but thank you for these videos!
@@healing2gether thank you so much. That means the world. She’s recovering now and it’s tough! I’m not there with her at the moment but she can’t do much by herself. How long will it take until she can be almost fully functional, as in walking and getting up and down? Thank you 😊
Hey Adam, thank you again for your experiences. You had said that you don’t bend too much, but would you say that that has improved from before your surgery? What did your lower back actually feel like if you can recall? Did you have inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms? How does your actual back feel now and why don’t you bend so much now? Thank again Adam. Keep evolving and figuring out your angles.
Hey my friend yes, my back feels much better since surgery, and though I still don’t bend much I’ve learned to squat down for everything. I’m going to be making a video very soon but because I am 13 days completely clean of all pain medication‘s and kratom as well, I’m feeling my pain in a very new way, not a good way lol but it’s much more present everywhere. Keep an eye out for the video, great to have your support!
Hi Adam! What a very heavy situation you have (had). I was wondering, while watching this video, if you have tried a pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) treatment on your sciatic nerve? These treatments take place in the pain clinic in your hospital and tend to give very good results in decreasing nerve pain in neuropathic pain conditions (not forever but you can repeat the treatment). It's a very safe procedure with almost no side effects. Just wanted to let you know! Take care and very happy to see that you try to keep your spirits high!
Hi Adam,I have got a lot worse, everything has weakened further,I am virtually bed bound now.I saw my surgeon and he said there is nothing that can be done because my bones are too soft to support the instruments. I have severe scholiosis and weakness in the area where the broken vertebrae is.I have hyperparathyroidism which is causing bone loss.Hopefully when I have had surgery to cure the hyperparathyroidism, my bone density should improve and my bone turnover should begin to improve, hopefully,I can then have surgery.
Hello Adam and Thank You. I had L4-L5 Laminectomy and fusion 1 week ago. I had pain and shots for 5-6 years. This is an awesome testimony. God is with us and I am grateful. I look forward to finishing this video now and I am interested in all you are sharing. I would like to connect via email Re: specific tips and steroid / hormone information you have shared. I have stayed active up until last week. I attend Hot Yoga and surf and S U P when the water is not too cold. This has been church for me today… No driving for 3 weeks was suggested. Adam,so sorry for your wife leaving you, good job you have your son's.My specialist says nothing can be done due to weak bones.I am in a lot of pain especially when I walk and get into and out of bed.I have nerve pain in my legs, lower back, ankles and feet and it's hell
I'm 10 months post op from L4-S1 Fusion, and laminectomy. It took alot out me. Still in some pain, some days are better than others. I trying to get off the 20lbs I put on while being incapacitated. I'm limited on what I was able to do prior to surgery. Still take Gabapentin if needed. This surgery is no joke.
So inspiring! I didn't have a fusion, but I had an L4 L5 Discectomy 6 months ago after 17 years of pain (I'm 33). I put off surgery for so long because I had to raise my daughter on my own, and work to support her. I'm so grateful that I'm with someone now who said enough is enough, and didn't want to see me in pain anymore. I'd move the wrong way, and couldn't walk for 3 weeks. The herniation was cutting off the nerves to my leg and pinching that sciatic nerve. After the surgery, I don't have the pain I had prior, but I definitely feel when the weather changes. Thanks for being such an inspiration!!
@@healing2gether I've had such a relief of pain since surgery. I'm still cautious of bending and lifting certain things, but my quality of life is so much better now! I'm so thankful I was able to get the surgery done.

Thank you greatly, how are you healing?
Thank ou my friend, how are you doing now??
I feel the same way ...my wife dont even listening when im hurting anymore ..she just ignore me

@@healing2gether better than I have for many years! Still in a heap of pain and taking things 1 day at a time, but feeling little improvements every day. Already way more mobile than I was pre surgery, and ready to live life again mate 👍🏼
I blew 2 discs in one rugby game 🤦♂️. I refuse to get surgery but sometimes the pain makes me consider it.
Also on an exercise note before surgery I used to do sits ups working out to tone my stomach, after surgery I’m lost on this planking crap to tone my stomach… help what can I do
You are so right, no one truly understands what we endure, I hope that eventually you start to have more good days than bad days!!
I hope everything went ok for you Michael with your fusion sending you healing ❤️🩹 vibes

Wow your one tough dude your positive attitude is amazing, many would have given up. Best wishes to you all👏👏
Thank you greatly my friend!
Aww thank you so much!! I hope you are moving forward with strength!!!
Today is my 1 year anniversary on L5 - S1 Fusion, agree totally on what you are trying to explain to those who never experienced the experience.
How are you now?

I just had my s1 l5 and l3 done 10 days ago, and came across your video, and i know your pain even the personal pain your video choked me up not inly were you informative but inspiring, my story is almost the same as yours, except i dont have any children but i know how it feels to lose one.....thank you for your inspired strength
Thank you greatly! Hope and prayer for your healing!
Thank you my friend, I am grateful for your words and support 🙏🏻
Congrats mate, Hope it continues to improve for you. One of the hardest things ive had to struggle is finding ways to utilize all the energy i have when i can hardly move most days.
That’s is the absolute truth!!! Glad to have you with us my friend!

Thank you my friend! Great to hear that for you!
I’m 10 months out on spine fusion. Your words hold true on how i feel before storms. Sitting standing bending twisting. I work in a heavy equipment environment and was back at it 3 months after surgery. Love to work love to live. But it’s always a challenge.
R u pain free?
Hey my friend I’m sorry to hear you’ve been through so much! What is this phantom pain that you are speaking of that you experience, additional pain?
Thank you and I hope and pray for your situation ❤️🙏🏻

Hi
how are you today ?
Anyway, I live a little outside of Harrisburg. I'd love to meet up sometime and buy you dinner. We have a ton more in common, love to talk to ya sometime.
Hey brother, thanks for reaching out!! The nerve damage is terrible isn’t it? How are you now? I’d always love to meet up!!

How are you feeling. I have to get same surgery
How are you doing now my friend? I hope that you have relief since your surgery…?
@@FromTheHood2TheWoods you're welcome. Best wishes for you. Let me know how your doing.
Thank you
I have no plan to have my hardware removed yet, unless I hear otherwise
God loves you, Bro!
Thank you my friend, and God Bless you as well!!
Did they use screws, rods, and a cage? Did they remove that hardware after the fusion was successful. I heard it can cause infections
It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.”

Thank you greatly my friend, hearing that means a lot!!
I just had a 3rd back surgery and it was the most serious one as spinal fusion. I am 60 years old female. I am very interested in your recovery. So I am now 3 weeks out and I am doing well I think. Thank you for sharing.
Oh I’m so sorry for what you’re experiencing!! How are you doing now? Are you able to manage your pain
How are you now
I just had my second spinal fusion 5 months ago after the first one failed and I broke the screws….lost my 127k job over all this use to box and be active hard now thinking about getting a part time job still have a lot of pain in my lower back after I do just about anything
Wow…an amazing and encouraging story. My mother has to have the same surgery! Unfortunately, I’m just seeing these videos, but thank you for these videos!
Thank you!! I wish your mother a blessed recovery!!
Yes same my question
I am so sorry that things are so tough my friend! I will pray for you and I hope that you do find relief!
Glad to see your back training!!!! Gives me hope I’ll be back hitting bombs on the golf course!!!!! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
I hope you sure will!!! I know we become limited but I hope you will get to do what you love?!
Hello Adam and Thank You.
I had L4-L5 Laminectomy and fusion
1 week ago.
This has been church for me today…
No driving for 3 weeks was suggested.
Pain shared can be 1/2’d.

I am 1 1/2 months out from my L5 S1 fusion, great video I’m very hopeful of a full recovery
How did the recovery go?
@@myviberaider8738 I’m 9 months after the surgery now, and every thing is great! No more pain at all, I did limit my flexibility but not bad at all.
God bless you and your boys. You will be blessed with a true soul mate sent from our heavenly father. You guys are so strong 💪 and in our prayers. BTW while I was in the hospital I formed a company. I was bored so why not start a company lol while in recovery.
HELLZ YAH you strayed a company, cuz you’re a true boss my friend!!! That makes me so happy to hear honestly! What you said about a soulmate being sent to me from heavenly father, warms my heart and brings a tear to my eye more than you know. God bless you my friend!!

I had my neck fusion last year and getting ready for my back fusion.
L1-S1.
How is your recovery??
@@healing2gether Recovery is going great they fused my lower back on July 18th.
L3-S1 it's a little sore when it rains because of the Bone and Bone Marrow they took from my hip.
Other than that I feel great.
Up and walking around hours after Surgery.
Beast. What a change brother

Adam,so sorry for your wife leaving you, good job you have your son's.My specialist says nothing can be done due to weak bones.I am in a lot of pain especially when I walk and get into and out of bed.I have nerve pain in my legs, lower back, ankles and feet and it's hell
I’m so sorry you are still in so much pain. I was hoping and praying for you that someday I will hear from you and you will be in less pain!!
@@healing2gether it's always in the morning when I have been laid on it all night, the pain subsides in the day
I'm 10 months post op from L4-S1 Fusion, and laminectomy. It took alot out me. Still in some pain, some days are better than others. I trying to get off the 20lbs I put on while being incapacitated. I'm limited on what I was able to do prior to surgery. Still take Gabapentin if needed. This surgery is no joke.
How are you doing now??
Awwww you’re welcome, and thank you for your comment!! Being so young I do hope that you find some pain relief! How are you doing now?
@@healing2gether I've had such a relief of pain since surgery. I'm still cautious of bending and lifting certain things, but my quality of life is so much better now! I'm so thankful I was able to get the surgery done.

PS: Adam you are still healing your nerves it can take over two years they grow back slow and heal slow I finally got off gabapentin 5 months ago.
You get light nerve pain but not enough to go back on gabapentin I’m so glad It anymore.
Believe that you are healing ❤
Great advice my friend, And I’m very glad to hear that you are getting a little better over time! As always thank you for your prayers and blessings and great to hear from you!
It’s good to know you’re doing so well. Is there a particular zero gravity chair you recommend ?
I have one from Amazon that was a good price, but many camping stores like Dicks have very nice ones…but they get expensive very fast!
