Not that it matters what I think - but it feels good when Joey's around. He's a good friend, respectful, nonintrusive and supportive. 😊👍🏼
Shout out to the tow truck driver Andy for being so resourceful in the moment.
I’ve never met a tow truck driver that wasn’t a good guy. They are a special breed.
Cat, it looks like you are able to live financially but not rolling in the dough. If you ever have a spare buck, you might want to invest in an add-on leaf spring. You do a lot of off road driving, which the Springdale isn't made for. Add the helper spring and your trailer will last for years. Good luck.
Happy Mother's day to all moms out there; and especially to my mom, who left this world way to young but I still love and miss her dearly.
Luckily you had each other!
Walking, eases tension and breathing eases pent up frustration.
Fresh air is like an open window to the soul.
🌄
From the Audubon Society: Most birds migrate at night. The stars and the moon aid night-flying birds' navigation. Free of daytime thermals, the atmosphere is more stable, making it easier to maintain a steady course, especially for smaller birds such as warblers that might fly as slowly as 15 miles per hour.
This is a shout out to all the mothers, may your day be the best it can be, I pray for everyone who is reading this, alot of people are having a rough time right now. Astoria is a beautiful little town thank you for the video Cat , the California coast video was awesome also ❤❤, thumbs up 👍👍
Joey needs to bring back his RUclips channel. It’s a damn shame we can’t watch those videos anymore! Joey is such an inspirational person.
Joey coming out of the Forest was epic. 😊❤
I will always patronize Les Schwab for service and repairs. They saved us twice on our trip to the Oregon Coast. Blown tire fixed for free in Brookings, damaged valve stem fixed for free in Bakersfield. Both repairs immediately and in less than 30 minutes.❤ (Both of our tires were brand new. Roads are treacherous.)
I think it was stressful when the event happened (been there and had that) but it works out and looking back, it may have been worse. Glad you two are back to getting on down the road. 😊 sounds like things happen in three’s. Good Lord woman you had a rough go of it. Time to put all your troubles behind you and start over, better days ahead we hope.
Unfortunate that Les Schwab isn't national.
Were they all terrain tires? Asking because I’m planning on getting some, hoping they will work to avoid blowouts when going off paved roads for a bit.
@kimgo4518 We're planning on upgrading our tires after our next trip, even though ours are new. Regular RV tires are terrible. I heard there are some much better options, like all terrains.
Heavy trailers and a single axle is trouble waiting to happen.
I like Joey's sister already. Cape Disappointment, an appropriate name for that weeks campsite. I'm glad that serious a breakdown didn't happen while you were alone and remote
Oh wow. Weeks like that just make me want to crawl back in bed with a book, a cat, and a cup of something hot to just wait it out. Glad things have taken a turn for the better.
I love the way you always find something positive to say in bad situations, Cat. You are so inspiring. Keep these great videos coming. I look forward to them every Sunday evening when I’m ready to relax.
Adventures sometimes turn into more work than planned. Good that you replaced both springs so they are equal! Roll on with those scenic videos and thanks for sharing.
101 is not a highway you want to have trouble on, but thank Goodness for people like Andy and companies like Les Schwab. Glad you were able to weather the trouble and carry on!
Breaking down while traveling is the pits. I’m glad that Joey was with you. Two heads are always better than one when confronting mechanical challenges. Your weather on the Olympic peninsula was so familiar!
Next time ask to have the trailer put on a flat bed tow truck much safer and watch those nasty railroad crossings slow right down for them I put my four ways on and crawl over them with our trailer they are very hard on the whole trailer including pot holes 👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌷🌷
Catherine you would make a Awesome therapist . You have a calming voice , attentive listening way about you and other attributes . The springs have problems when it comes to pot holes and bridge crossings. I wish you well. All the videos are very nice…
Whenever something like your trailer leaf springs happens to me, these things happen to everyone btw, I take a deep breath, and say to myself…first world problem….😁
So true!
Joeys sister lives in Lake Wales, FL! Holy cow I live in Frostproof which is only maybe 15 miles away! Cool...
Bok Tower in Lake Wales Florida is not to be missed.
So thankful that there is still businesses out there that have compassion to do their jobs so glad for good people. Lucky all OK.
Katherine, I'm so glad you weren't alone when your leaf spring broke. My truck has been in the shop for two months, waiting on parts. I've got a bad toothache and discovered my car has a flat tire this beautiful Sunday morning. I'm now carless, alone and living in a rural area on the Olympic Peninsula. In Washington State. I'm about six hours away from where you broke down . It's been stressful for me to deal with this alone, a woman of 71 years old. I'm so happy you were able to get the help you needed in a timely fashion. Getting parts and service here on the Olympic Peninsula can take months. Someone is watching over you. ❤
Wow, when it rains it pours. Hang in there Cat! ❤ You are grace under pressure.
When we drove 18wheeler our company used Les Swabb for any tire changes or repairs. They are a very all some professional company.
Cat thanks for sharing this moment with you Joey!! What a weird and unusual experience of having the leaf springs to break!! But I'm glad your back on the road to continue your adventure! Take care and will catch you soon 👍🤠
Breaking down on 101 would always be stressful, but I'm so glad Joey was with you, and you got what you needed to fix the sutuation.
Thanks for the Pacific sunset pictures.❤
I love your new haircut!
On the bright side.. what a wonderful place to be while waiting 😄
Sometimes in RV life the "adventures" aren't all rainbows and sunsets.
I could tell you stories!
Thankfully the tow truck service was so helpful.Breakdowns are part of life and all we can do is take a deep breath and make the best of it.
Holy crap what a week Cat! Praying things are going smoother now for you!!!🥰🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank God for those people who can MacGyver things! They are valuable in any field!
Catherine, you managed to get through unscathed and can carry onto your hike. The way I Iook at it is , "Just be thankful you didn't roll the trailer with that broken spring." The sun always sets and in the morning there is always a new day.
For the algorithm : West Coast sunsets are so spectacular. Scary to have a spring leaf break. Glad it worked out ok. woo woo , Joey's sister.
Your leaf spring was lost in the rain.
LOST HER IN THE RAIN (c)2006
😢😢😢
Cathrine, I am so glad Joey was with you when this all happened. For me, when these things happen, it helps to have someone around. That's just me. I get overwhelmed.
So, sorry the trailer broke but very glad, Joey was with you. ❤❤
Roadside breakdowns are always nerve wracking. So glad you found reputable guys to fix it. Joey's sister seems like an adventuresome gal. Have a nice visit.
Thanks Cat and Joey hopefully your week has been better than last. Gods blessings to you both.
Thank God you had Joey with you 😊
Beautiful sceneries once again. So many of these that I've yet to experience.
I live on the Washington side. That Les scwab is a great place and they have always done terrific work for me and my truck and trailer. Safe travels.
A breakdown is Not what you want to wake up to on a Sunday Morning, or any other morning for that matter. Glad y'all made it safely to the campground. Stay Safe, keep posting and I'll keep watching 🙏👍🙏🐕🦺
Sweet life when you can spend it in Olympia. Kalaloch, Ruby, Rialto beaches and the Hoh - so cool.
First of all, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all the mom viewers out there! You know you're in Les Schwab country when you're in Oregon! Great company with wonderful customer service! I love the beautiful coastal scenery and general pacific northwest area. Great seafood too!
Alway darkest before the dawn nothing but smooth sailing from now on. thank you ALL stay safe
It's good to have Joey with you. Glad everything is good.
Your week reminded me of a friend of mine, who likewise had a terrible week and was quite depressed at her bad luck. She went to a bookstore and found “Ziggy’s Loser Calendar.” It made her smile so she decided to buy it. When she got to the checkout, she didn’t have enough money!!! lol Stay safe, Catherine!🍀🙋🏻♀️
Used to live in Seattle, so sick of the gloom and rain. Now live in sunny warm Arizona, and love it. Did you know the Australian surfers? So sad. You think you had a bad week…. Have fun with Joey’s sister. Love your videos💗💕
Back when i was a teen in the mid-80's, while driving home from a 3 week vacation, our Coleman Pop-up's leaf spring broke, and immediately bent the axle clear underneath the camper. My mom controlled it nicely and pulled off the road, but the damage was done. Trailer was totaled. Glad your experience wasnt worse than it was. The roads in the US sure to give our cars/trucks/etc a pounding.
Yeah, the rv business has went down the tube because of shoddy workmanship and weak construction.
I chose to convert a school bus to a camper and it is built solid and is made tough for the bumpy roads in the U.S.
You might consider researching an upgrade to your suspension system and be aware that you can carry extra leaf springs for the next time ( ie the other side ). I had this happen while hauling horses on a trip. Not a fun deal but please consider an upgrade in your suspension it’s not hard to have done by a mobile Rv mechanic.
She said she replaced borh sides.
I know exactly the stress you experienced having a mechanical breakdown. Last week my wife and I were going on our 1st campout of the season in northern Wisconsin. When I went to put my hitch in the receiver on the back of my truck, something didn't look right. On further inspection I found my hitch had cracked in 2 places. So we didn't go but we decided to just stay in the trailer overnight in the storage yard where I keep it. We still enjoyed it because it was quiet and nobody around. My new hitch should arrive this week, but my trips will have to wait until after my knee replacement surgery next week. Good luck with the rest of your travels....:-)
Thank you!
What a week for you! But it all worked out, nobody got hurt and you still shared a video with us! As the other fan said, glad Joey was there and glad for Andy!!
Glad Joey was with you for the trailer challenge! Teen dghtr and I towing our TT had a truck belt pulley break off and a back road in Canada with no cell signal. A Canadian mechanic and wife just 'felt' they needed to go for a drive that day. He drove an hour for part from buddy's salvage and tow yard, pick and pulled new pulley. Meanwhile another Canadian towing his TT stopped to help, ready to tow TT back to the gorgeous free Alberta lake side boondocking site we'd just left. Instead, these 2 men fixed us on the side of this road! I hope they remember their angel acts every time they step on our handmade rag rug they chose! Canadians are fantastic people! And other stories during our 10 yrs traveling, 3 solo for me. Btw, Catherine, my TT is stationary now, insulated and skirted on my offgrid raw acreages. But..... Because of your videos of truck shell camping, I bought one from FB marketplace, solar panel mounted, simple build out, CAR REFRIDGERATOR purchased (tired of ice chest stew!) ! Headed out this afternoon for 7-20 day (lol) boondocking adventure, in fact! So thank you for the inspiration!
Btw again, I had Progressive insure with Roadside Assistance when traveling fulltime. They were EXCELLENT! I've have a couple of big issues when towing and the RA people sent to help were fantastic, and were not talking simple flat......
Wow what an insane week you had! So glad Joey was there to help out and nice to meet his little sister too. Hope the rest of your adventures are great Cat!!
Sorry to hear about your rig, glad all worked out, thank you for allowing me to tag along.😘🖖
Catherine...
Good morning angel. Although there is never a good time for things to break down. At least you weren't out in the middle of nowhere. I'm glad that you were able to get things ironed out without too much hassle. Let me help out with the expense a little bit.
Let me wish you a belated happy fifth anniversary of life on the road. Sorry I forgot. I've had a couple of other things on my mind lately.
I'm finished with chemo. I feel much, much better. I'm going to grill some steaks and vegetables later this afternoon. It seems like it's been forever since I've had a good meal. I think I'll make some hand cranked strawberry ice cream as well.
Just so you know. I'm still planning to make a trip to the southwest next January or February. I'm hoping to be able to meet you for a sandwich and coffee one day. And I would like the opportunity to scare the bejeezus out of you. 😂
Even though I know it was a stressful time for you. I really enjoyed your video today. It's good that you show us the realities of your life on the road. Thanks sweetheart. As always. Be safe and well when you're exploring. See ya, bye.
Love you. ❤ Randy. 🎹
Thanks so much Randy! So glad you are done with chemo. Enjoy that awesome meal!
Wow what a wild video. It’s so amazing that the tow truck driver got you to your destination. I love it when someone can take bad situation and make a good one! Beautiful places!
Camp disapointment?😮 ironic
Hi Catherine, I'm glad you were able to fix your truck, and Joe was there to help you.
That town is famous for the saga movie Twilight, etc.
Happy Mother days 💐
Forks has the best market it’s amazing!
Man, that sounded stressful. AAA, a good tow company, and driver, and Joey's support, to the rescue! Thing about adventures is risk. But a life without it is unthinkable. 👍😎🇨🇦🌊🌲🌞 2 Cats are better than 1!!
What a week! We're glad it's over, and you can concentrate on better times with Joey and his sister, Cat! That's so nice she can visit y'all. Joey coming out of the forest after his backpacking trip was awesome. Have a great time, and see you on the next video! ❤
That was stressful. And that bird, omgosh! Camped in those areas as a child. Not sure exactly where but I'd love to beach camp like you did. Thanks for sharing those locations.
Oh my! Well, I'm glad you had Joey along for company and moral support. You could have handled everything on your own, of course, but having a friend for support at such a time is priceless. I'm glad y'all got THROUGH all that, and things are looking brighter!
It was still a good video. I enjoyed the scenery.
God bless y'all!
So glad you had someone with you and got the help you needed quickly. I wasn't so fortunate back in 2022 when I had multiple issues within a couple of days. We take it all in stride and persevere. Still in the trailer & not giving up. Hope better days are ahead.
That's unfortunate...especially for a newer trailer. I'm looking at replacing both my 5200# axles that have leaf springs and no shocks to a Cruisemaster retrofit independent suspension with coilovers or air ride and dual shocks per tire for off road adventures.
Wow! You have rocked the downside of RV travel. Good for you! Enjoy what snippets of sweetness you can glean from the week. It's all good - these types of weird things can and do happen in sticks and bricks. Stay positive! Love following your adventures.
Oh my! That was a stressful time and I’m glad it’s behind you. Looking forward to your next adventure.
My wife and I had the exact same thing happen to us in New Mexico. Same fix to get us off the road and heavier replacement springs were then installed. Glad everything worked out
Grateful that you and Joey are safe , and you are back on track! Laundry....well...think of how good it feels when it's all done and you have fresh laundry back in your home🥰 Have an awesome week !
Thanks for posting the real adventuring of traveling.
Oh, so sorry you had trailer problems. Thank you for sharing. Blessings
Glad to hear that you replaced both the springs. Very smart decision.
I'm glad you got your house on wheels fixed and all were safe.
That was an adventure of another kind-crossing the Astoria with a "limping" camper. My heart would have been in my throat. I am glad that Joey was with you. Thanks to your tow guy and Les Schwab, you are back on the road and ready for more pleasant adventures. I have used Schwab for various vehicle issues and they have always been helpful, pleasant, and efficient. May this week be full of fun adventures!
Thank you for sharing these parts of your adventures! What a gift that the breakage happened before you ventured too much farther away from services to complete the repair. And to get the parts the next day, that is awesome! You are very inspiring and a gift to so many of us through your videos, thank you!!
That’s quite the week! So glad no one was injured, & nice you had a friend with you when the trailer broke down.
I’m so happy that Joey was with you when your trailer broke! Joey is a cute one and I’m excited to hear more from his sister!! 🌷
Great video!!! Thanks for sharing some of the behind the scenes bits of your videos. It’s not always rainbows.
I can’t think of a better person to be stranded on a road trip with! Glad everything worked out and looking forward to next week’s adventure!
I feel for you Cat with your trying week you had, I am happy that you had Joey for support. You are in my old stomping grounds for many years my home, love seeing any adventure you share in Washington. I am now in Arizona. Nice to see you smile and looking forward to some fun ahead!
bad luck, been there..glad everything smoothed out..thanks Kit Kat..
Yikes! What a week! Looking forward to a return to normal next week - as, I am sure, are you.
Hang in there! Rough weeks happen, but your resilience shines through. We sent you an email, take a look.
I was camping on that campground close to that ship wreck , lovely place! Your videos are very inspiring to me, thank you so much!
Wow..... At least you made it to campsite. Welcome to Washington!
Sorry for the mechanical trouble.
Plus that birds radar was off...😢
You need to very carefully analyze the weight you have inside your trailer..
Think you are overloaded especially since its single axle - its Easy to do! If in the beginning you did not do the weight procedure you should NOW do so.
You are lucky it was not much worse!!
I overloaded my first trailer & noticed bad tire wear & the company told me = TRAILER IS OVERLOADED.
Talk with the trailer company & they can explain in detail. Please do not take it lightly as it could be deadly if trailer goes out of control.
Sorry if I'm seeming negative but its FACTS you need to be aware of.
Best wishes / Safe travels.❤
Congratulations on 100K subs! 🎉 Thanks for the beautiful PNW video with a shot of the bald eagle 🦅 and the Pacific Ocean! Glad everything turned out ok with your trailer. Kudos to Joey for his support in a stressful time. Be safe 💜 ☮
Congrats on 100K. Rough times. First career was in auto service. My guys fixed roughly 40 cars a day. Don't know what that number adds up to but never saw a broken leaf spring. Then the bird? OMG. Also the eye. Need to buy a lottery ticket because your luck has to change.
When you put a lot of miles on a vehicle pre trip inspections are your friend.the springs on the passenger side take the most punishment from going over rough spots and pot holes on that part of the road
Ok, you got safe, 👍
I am sorry for the crazy week. I'm glad you had Joey there . How exciting to have Joey's little sister there. Can't wait to see what adventures you all went on. Have a wonderful day!
I thought going camping meant no household duties... You proved me wrong..... Adventure is not all sunshine and roses..... but... what a great experience... Thanks for sharing this stressfull episode....
We broke 3 sets of leaf springs…. Got the heavy duty springs and never had a problem after then. It always took 3 days. Hugs to you… we were always too heavy
Truck or trailer troubles on the road are never fun. Glad you got it fixed and escaped unscathed.
Yes, RVs and trailers are a challenge and that is why you must have an emergency fund. That said, you did it like a champ and went with the flow. Stress is unavoidable in situations like that but glad you had Joey along to help keep it to a minimum. Carry on Cat, you have a wonderful life that suits you. Someone else mentioned adding helper springs and you really should look into that since you are not always on pavement.
Do yourself a big favor and carry one extra if not two, yes, it is a pain but it is very useful especially when you're out in some remote area. There is always someone who has the tools to help you out. It looks like they changed out both smart moves!
Happy Mother's Day Catherine ❤🙏
Sorry to hear your experience. Hope everything goes well.
