⏩ Video Question: Have you ever played your instrument in the rain??? I have had to drum in the rain a LOT For live content catch me on Twitch. www.twitch.tv/drumrolltony
I was blown away by this song when I first heard it, and after listening and analyzing the song multiple times, what amazes me is that the song has A LOT of key changes yet still sounded seamless the whole way though. If anyone's curious, here's the key analysis (timestamps are from the Cry Baby MV): - Intro (0:00-0:09): G Minor (borrowing harmonic minor) - Verses (0:09-0:23, 1:36-2:26): F Minor - Pre-chorus (0:23-0:48, 2:26-2:50): D Minor - Chorus (0:48-1:36, 2:50-end): D Major, transitioning to Db Major four measures in (3:33-3:43 has a brief E Major moment) All in all, there were like 10 key changes throughout the song and the only one I noticed in my first hearing was at the very last chorus. Anyway, thank you for reacting to this song! If I have to recommend another anime song, I recommend listening to "Asphyxia" by Cö Shu Nie from the Tokyo Ghoul re: soundtrack since I bet you're gonna have a fun time with that song's complexity hehe. 💛💛
@@nwaarmalek6242i like it. But the MC is the worst part. He keeps saying “i wanna get stronger” throughout the show but never does anything to get better lmao. Mikey carrys the show imo lol. Hes just so much of a badass
the constant modulations in this song really work with the show/manga - the main premise is the main character jumping through different timelines to stop another guy taking over a gang who kill his childhood sweetheart, and it flip flops between the present and different pasts. i thought it was really cool how the song jumped through different keys similar to how the main character jumps through timelines. official hige dandism are amazing!
This song is suck a pain in the butt when you have no idea about music theory and want to play it on your instrument like me by ear (piano in my case). This is the song which I sat down for more than 3 hours to get it right and thats only for the TV Size version of it, to be fair I am a beginner of 2 years and have literally 0 idea of music theory. Love it, looking forward to more reactions on such amazings songs!
Tokyo revengers is basically about a guy going back in time in his teenage era to join a gang, while trying to prevent it from turning into a mafia that killed his ex girlfriend in the future. Everytime he goes back, the future changes, explaining why there are so much code modulation in this song.
First time on the channel. This song took you by surprise, just like it did me! I heard it for the first time just yesterday, and I can't stop playing it! The modulations and chord progressions are next level and so creative! The lead vocalist is extremely talented. I agree, those quick jumps up into his head voice are almost like a yodel. Great reaction! Subscribed.
The thing about this band... they do this often, a lot of changes throughout their songs. One of the reasons why I love them, always unexpected sound progressions and changes. Can never be bored.
Hige Dandism is pronounced Hee (short, no stretch) + Geh, and Dandism is like Dandy-ism, without the y. Super popular band that became big outside of anime music before being invited to write songs for different shows/movies/anime
Because you asked. Tokyo Revengers is about aspiration, admiration and especially loss. Be it loss of a life in a sense of dying or in the sense of having to live differently
That happens often I've noticed. Like Rie Takahashi's amazing opening for I'm the Villainess. Kyoukan Sarenakutemo Ii Janai. I could(and have)listened to that song on repeat for quite a while
I just thought about it and came to the conclusion that this theme is perfect for tokyo revenhers cause the anime is just like the song the mood always changes drastically
If you want Something similar to this I recommend you to checkout Hakujitsu by King gnu. Man that song is something else the groove, the chorus after the bridge and how contrast the vocals and the instruments together.
I think this song relates perfectly to the story. I watched some episodes and even if not many I got a very strong feeling about what's going on. I think the song has five main words you can relate it to: Nostalgia, Regret, Grieving, Darkness and Hope. Those words represent different sounds i've heard that resonate to me. I feel like the song really conveys the message of the main character trying his best to amend his wrong doings in the past by going back and getting everything fine to avoid the "bad end" as the song says in part. So it's a song about working hard through your main goal. It's bitter sweet because of how many things have happend so I really feel both motivated and also about to cry with this song. It's a real feels trip.
I've been waiting for this historical moment but here it is! I knew he would pull through! Thank you for giving Tokyo Revengers and Official Higedanism some love! TR has some great endings and osts that you might like to check out as well!! Cry baby is just perfect for the series!
This is probably my favorite anime OP. I have no music background so this was fun watching someone break down the composition and hearing parts I didn't even acknowledge. The reactions, rewinds, and analysis are good!
This is a total banger! I saw the first episodes of Tokyo Revengers and this song is where I said "Ok, this is great ❤️😩" And I watched the whole anime, caught up on the manga and proceeded to read it until it's ending some weeks ago, just because of this song ❤️
You asked what tokyo revengers was about. Well, it's a show about gangs, growing up, fighting, romance and also time travel. I've been watching anime for 26 years, and tokyo revengers has quickly made its way in my top 10.
Seeing how you loved this, you should check out Mixed Nuts by the same band. It's the opening to Spy X Family. I think you will really love that one! It's a high tempo jazzy type of song with lots of brass, and drums. And the bass lines are killer! Love your break downs! You are one of the few reactors who I don't mind when you pause and go back cause you actually give breakdowns on what you hear! There is a whole world, as you know, of amazing anime songs! Look forward to more!
True art, the song has so much but never feels too heavy, one of my favourite Japanese bands along Minami for sure. Another new band is Kessoku and especially their song "That band". It has a cozy garage rock feel, with nice bass and dreamy guitars.
I really love this song ❤️ I think all that change on cords as you said might be a reference of the story, since the main character can time travel and he made quite some changes to the story in the process, really cool!!

Thank you so much for reacting to this opening. I really really love part when it becomes quite, I sort of still remember about the lyric, about like shielding with words or something. I remember cried about it because of how fit it is with the story of TR.
