This brings me back to 2022 when Toronto chanted 'overrated' at him, so he pitched 7 shutout innings one day, then went 3-for-4 with a homer the next. Every time Toronto comes for him it comes back to bite them

Just looking at the replay of the home run at 1:59. The look on Ohtani's face just looks totally relaxed when he hits that ball. It's like he knows once he makes contact it's leaving the park. This guy is on another level.

The most important fact is Shohei is still on rehab program for his pitching arm after surgery late Sept. Pp always forgot that Ohtani had a big arm surgery only half yr ago after he hit those magnificent HR even when he has that black arm protector on to limit arm over-stretching. 😂
Dodgers fan here, I was going crazy when he hit that home run. I was sitting close to where the ball landed near the bullpen. I am going to the next two games as well.

The home run he hit at Nationals Park sounded like a Dodgers home game after he hit that home run a few days ago, but that was amazing to see. Muncy did a great job hitting that three run homer and getting it started at the top of the 3rd putting 6 runs on them. I'm happy they're playing better than they were.

His coach and teammates booing him show their love and respect for that man. They weren't doing it out of spite. However, the booing from some of the Toronto Blue Jay fans is just spiteful jealousy because he didn't come to play for their lackluster team. Shohei going from the Angels to the Blue Jays would not have been an improvement, but it was just par for the road. However, he needed to go from the Angels to the Dodgers to achieve a World Series game.

Casual Jays fan here, didn’t know much about his controversies when I showed up to this game last night. I was in the 500s (basically the top of the stadium) and the boos were deafening even up there. I honestly felt bad for the guy once I learned about the whole translator situation, I hope the booing doesn’t continue much longer
Jays fan since April 7, 1977 here (I went to that game - their first ever). The booing wasn’t to do with the gambling/translator issue, although that might have conveniently contributed to it. It was to do with the perceived notion that Ohtani used Toronto (and other teams to a lesser degree) to jack up his payday in LA. That combined with the perception he was on a plane to Toronto (which of course was not his fault) led Jays fans to think him playing for the Jays was a done deal.
Jays fans are booing because of the journalist’s mistake. He reported that Ohtani was signing with the Jays. The world believed it even though the Journalist said Ohtani’s agent didn’t confirm that Ohtani was on the way to Toronto.

May be the most idiotic booing of a player I've ever heard, and there have been some bad ones. They booed him because a couple of moronic media guys claimed, without any verification or sourcing, that Ohtani was on a flight to Toronto to sign with the team. Ohtani did nothing to offend the fans there, and never uttered a remotely negative word about the team or the city.
That said, I appreciate that their hearts weren't really in it, and flipped quickly to cheer him when he hit the HR. I've generally considered the Blue Jay fanbase underrated and one of the better ones in baseball.

I'm an American who lived in Vancouver BC for 5 years. I enjoyed my time there, but there was one thing that got to me after my first year of residence. Being from a South Orange County beach city, I missed the sun. So as much as I loved Vancouver, I missed home even more. So you can't blame Shohei for wanting to remain in Southern California. I mean given a choice between sun and warmth/dry versus overcast cloud cover and cold/wet, that's a no brainer (just look at all the snowbirds who escape to the "sunny south" during the winter season). And then being on a team with a winning tradition is just the proverbial "icing to the cake".
Just got in from this game. The most exciting part of the game is when the guys come out with the Ryobi boards to flatten the dirt around the bases.
I was surprised by all the booing for Ohtani. I'm a Jays fan but why boo him? I don't get it. When I heard it I said he's gonna hit a home run.
