Why it is much people when they discover they having hearing loss feel ashame even wearing hearing aids or that letting to know people you wore hearing aids is embarasing. I was born with hearing loss and wore hearing aids with no complex. I have had a mild to moderate hearing loss and hearing aids since i was 8 years old. The first pair that I had, i hated how they looked but everything sounded fine so that wasn’t the issue.. Although I was barely wearing them because I hated them and thought they were super gross… and when I was about 10 years old I was playing with my brother and he by accident slapped my ear when he jumped on me and it perforated my eardrum and that had to wait to be closed up in case it was to get infected because i had a lot of ear infections when i was very little but that subsided as I aged.. So about a year ago I went to a new ENT and had the tympanoplasty done..(I am now 21 ) After that was done and healed my ENT was telling me all about the new kinds of stuff they have and i thought I’d check out what they had jn store for me.. And she told me about the new lyric hearing aids from phonak, so I thought i’d give it a try.. they sounded great and helped me hear,.. although they caused too much other problems and i unfortunately only lasted about 3 months with the lyric.. so then i switched to new IIC hearing from starkey and i am just not a fan of the way my voice sounds in my head with them… I feel like sound really gross sometimes I also don’t like the blocky feeling that they cause… well most of the time everything else around me sounds clear although sometimes i get a static sound with that too.. and I kind of either sound pretty staticy or boomy and im really not a fan.. Also do you know what other hearing aids are good for singing? Cuz with the lyric it was amazing for singing but unfortunately I’m unable to use those
Thank you for your review. I always appreciate your perspective. I tried the phonak black and there were problems with the phone app. Every time I would get a notification it would clear my settings. I like most people looking for this level of Technology need to be in contact with my phone. I also tried the Starkey Livio Edge. Phone connectivity was horrible. It continually disconnected. I returned both of those hearing aids within the trial period. I ended up going with the ReSound Quattro helix. That one is working really great for me. Ironically I ended up getting that one from Costco. The first two that I tried that did not work for me for premium hearing aids through private caring professionals. And neither of those worked.
I am in need of a hearing aid--one ear is worse than the other--moderate loss, i believe. I am concentrating on completely in the ear type--betwen Emrace and Audicus--since cost is also an issue. Which is best of the two. thank you.
I live at the beach. What would happen if I dove in the pool/ocean with my Lyric hearing aid in my ear (obviously not on purpose)? Is there any physical danger? Would it cause me pain? Would it cause an ear ache? Would it ruin the device? Thank you,
I have one question please reply on me what make difference between many brands like phonak, Belton Siemens,.. etc what make hearing device is good rather than other. and, Is the matter just business or not ? what are things supposed to be in the hearing device that to facilitate for me to choose this or that and thankyou
Dr. Cliff. First, I feel like you are not being totally upfront with me. You are saying that…..other than BELLTONE…….I can choose any hearing aid company that I want. Go to them, be assessed, and choose from the many brands that they carry. Meaning that ALL companies carry the SAME brands. Say company A carries 5 brands of aids. Around the corner Company B also sells those same 5 brands. And on and on. Everyone is connected with eachother. Everyone except BELLTONE, that is. BELLTONE is a private company that makes one brand…….maybe one brand that has a lower model, a medium model, and a higher priced model. Other than that, they offer no other. Now, all of those other companies out there……they carry different BRANDS, showing me that they are tied into eachother, making money with eachother, because waaaaaay up at the very top of this, one giant company owns all of those smaller hearing aid companies. And BELLTONE is all on its own while the Big Boys just grind away at BELLTONE……..until one day they run that very old company out of business.
BELLY ONE hearing Aids company is Soo private my healthcare insurance company doesn't recommend very private BELLTONE hearing Aids company . And I don't see any internet recommend it either. I called BELLTONE hearing Aids company and they wanted money upfront first thing advance before hearing testing and medical professionals paperwork and give me a runaround . I'm not very happy about it .
Okay, after your comment, I decided to watch your video. Will you please give me YOUR opinion of the Number One ……..only IN the ear and not behind it……….hearing aid. Several years ago I tried the Phonak. Didn’t last long with ME due to my tinnitus plus everything sounding like I was in a deep well.
Great video! I just picked up a new pair of Phonak Virto Titanium M70 devices and I do not like them and I am going to return them ASAP as Phonak gives you 60 days to try these. The most significant issue I have is the severe occlusion as it sounds like I am speaking in a barrel. The Vent hole looks nothing like the device in this video as the vent hole on my devices is smaller that the speaker port hole. Then the device from time to time keep adjusting themselves increasing volume then back to neutral. Also, when I am chewing it is very loud to myself and the last, these appear to be CIC and not IIC like my Starkey Sound Lens S IIC series I am replacing as these are over 5 years old. Maybe because these M70's are too big. As I have very small ear canals the M70's seem to be too far away from my ear drum and the vent is way to small. Anyone having the same issues with their Phonak M7o or M90 devices? Thanks and keep these great videos coming.
Hey, Doctor Cliff, I have thinking two things: 1) Can you just debunk the myth hearing loss is only affect old people depending on their age and how it affect them differently ? I say this because I have 23 yea old and I was born with hearing loss and I see some people believe this . 2.) Which hearing aid of in - the-ear canals hearing aids and receiver-in-canal hearing aids sounds more naturally and organic?
Thanks for the information. I had starkey in ear canal sound lens. Went to Kaiser and they are pushing a new brand Oticon Opn 1 HS I wish I had seen the new starky rechargeable. Well I have 45 days to try the oticon out.
I need to take my dad in for his hearing loss. He doesn't want to go bc he's had several hearing aids that didn't work or were lost or broke or something happened. I need someone who is as interested in solving problems as your are. How do I find the right person to help. I will search your channel on how. Thanks.
Thanks for the video. Please, Cliff, explain in simple words why in the ITE hearing aids are not appropriate for those who have severe to profound hearing loss. I suspect that the problem is the feedback but I expect your opinion.
@@DrCliffAuD Which ITE/ITC would you recommend for severe-profound sensorineural loss? I know they may not cover the full range of loss but which would come closest? I'm in that category and wear Virto Q50s but am looking for a new pair with a strong preference towards ITC styles over RIC/BTEs.
Hello Dr. Cliff, have you done a review video of the new Olive Smart Ear Plus that just came out in December 22 that is priced $1,000+? I would really appreciate it if you can do an in depth review of the product. Thank you. -Rhodore Geronaga
Not sure if you answer questions….I am deaf in my right ear due to minerals decease many years ago. I have tried the phonic cross over but found it overwhelmed my left ear. Since I only hear in one ear is there availability and pricing for one aid?
Please don't stop breathing ‼️I been wearing both hearing Aids since I was born premature baby born 3 months too early I wore hearing Aids when it was a one AAA-battery power chest hearing Aids looks like a small Jame Bond 007 spy radio in 1970 ‼️🤣 But I have 70 % hearing loss in both ears , I went to public schools and graduated from public highschool in 1983 hearing Aids became so advanced digital rechargeable waterproof hearing Aids in 2021 and I'm getting both of them soon , to your question I must rather be hearing myself breathing and hearing my girlfriend breathing than not hearing anything at all ‼️ I don't have any advanced digital hearing Aids yet to know . But I'm so sure advanced digital hearing Aids in 2022 will be so much better than my old Phonaks Milo Plus 2014 .I quit going to Old analog Starkey hearing Aids in 2010 they needed so much replacement since I sweat a lot and getting rained a lot and I camp/ fishing 🎣 a lot too . I watched Cliff's RUclips videos on " Phonaks Audeo Life rechargeable waterproof hearing Aids is great 👍 . Always have your hearing Aids tubes clean and ears molds clean and rechecked with hearing Aids professional to better fitting in your ears without any plugged up feeling in your ears . Every year check fitting and have hearing Aids professional cleaning out your hearing Aids . Or every 2 years . And don't forget about hearing Aids microphone filters needs to be replaced monthly . If you have any microphone filters at all they keep out sweats and dirt .
Hi, as I listened that you have also an tinnitus, so i want to know how u handle tinnitus and live with this issue? What are the steps you follows to ignore tinnitus?
Do Lyric fittings require a mold to be taken? Can you fit and install Lyric in a patient's ear, all on the same day/same appointment, or do you have to see the patient more than once (not counting follow-up verification/adjustment visits)?
Dr. Cliff, the Phonak Titanium M90, does the doctor do an ear mold for this hearing aid or is this a one-size-fits-all? I know you said some of these are too large for some ear canals. My wife is getting the Phonak P-R 90 tomorrow...but she has her heart set on the M90 version, ITE instead of BTE. You have really sold us on the Virto M-Titanium 90! And your other video, "Why Hearing Aid Trial Periods SUCK!" truly enlightened us on what to look for, and watch for, from the audiologist! I wish you were in Tennessee!!!
Who is NOT compatible with Lyric? For example, can someone with a pacemaker, heart monitor, or other battery powered devices use Lyric? Is there anyone who should not use Lyric? Thank you.
My Mom is 55 years old. She’s difficulty in hearing. In my opinion she has lost 40 percent of hearing. She has genetic type of hearing loss because her sister is slightly older than her and she has lost 90% hearing. My mom less care about hearing loss. All she complains about is that she has dry nose and head inside . She just wants running nose. She says if it happens, she will be like free from prison. She has never gotten cold in her entire life. I have consulted many doctors in India regarding this. But I never came across any ENT Doctor who could cure her. I need your suggestions doctor. Thank you!
Your videos is great, it provides a great overview of what's available for ITE's. Just a tech tip . . . have you considered adding segment links to your video. That would help viewers go right to the specific hearing aid detail. I've become a big fan of videos that use this feature.
Hey Chuck, thanks for being a regular on my channel! I don't know what a segment link is. Could you explain how it works a little further or link a video that has an example of what you mean?
Steve Freed I have Resound and also Phonak hearing aids and would like to know if the Resound TV Streamer that works for ReSound, Beltone, and Cochlear hearing aids will also work with my Phonak aids; they both have low-Energy Bluetooth? Steve
What is best hearing aid for my dad who has moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss. He has Phonak ones that he bought 5 yrs ago. He wants to upgrade. His hearing is getting worse but no bad enough that he needs a cochlear implant. Please advise brand that gives best chance to hear. He needs Bluetooth features for iPhone and TV.
Is the regular Phonak Marvel Virto the same as the Marvel Black featured here or are they different models? I know that the standard Marvel Virto also comes in a black color option among others, is that the one you mention?
Which one has the best resistance to humidity? I have the Signia Silk Nx 7 and they’re incredible, yet I had to send them for repair 7 times in 2020...
Yeah, Signia is at the bottom of the list for humidity in my opinion. Phonak has been the best performer in my clinic. Of course, I practice in the desert and do a lot of moisture management with the Redux professional dehydration system in my clinic.
@@DrCliffAuD Thank you for answering me! That’s immensely appreciated. That comforts what I have been reading or hearing. I will have to argue more with my hearing aid provider to obtain another device.
It seems strange there is no unitron/oticon but Phonak is mentionned 3 times!! For two of your choices there is non binaural connectivity while unitron has it with their Discover platforme.oticon smalless iic And the fact that you can't fix the mold of a titanium is not great. I hope phonak is not paying you. I am on the same page for the Livio. French Canadian college ;)
I have worn Lyric for several years and am very happy with them. I am a performing musician and did not want any of my colleagues to know I have hearing aids. No one knows! I also like that I wear them 24/7 and never have to fiddle with batteries. That makes up for the lack of Bluetooth connectivity. It did take some getting used to, similar to getting accustomed to contact lenses.
is there a place where i can go online, do a hearing test, and order my hearing aid that way? the Eargo Neo HiFi doesn't seem to be a good fit for me.. i need something with better amplification to fit my moderate hearing loss
Great information. Question: I don't have an eardrum in my left ear (childhood infection) and can hear only muffled sounds in it. My right ear is slowly losing its acuity. Would any of these devices help with such a severe problem? I used to have bad tinnitus in the left ear but even that went away to a large extent, thank heaven. Thanks for any help.
Hey Doc! I have Sensoreal Sudden Hearing loss in 1 of my ears. I am stuck between the following 4 OTE hearing aids and was wondering what your thoughts are on them. I am leaning towards the Philips Hearlink vs. Resound Preza, Phonak Brio 4, Rexton Motioncore and Kirkland Signatue. The Philips is rechargeable. Thank you!
I have both hearing loss since my birth and I have 23 year olds. I writing this because people still think hearing loss is a old people thing when it not. Unfortunately, I have another challenge which is my sigth is losing little by little. It is rare condition where is asomatic and genetic which is called " Usher Syndrome ". There is three types of this syndrome mine is the second type or type II. I am not looking for pity but make an effort to concientizise this sydrome to the people and also experts or doctor that migth not know this syndrome that much.
@@DrCliffAuD I have an Oticon In ear cannal which is I am very satisfied but I have changed a medical plan which is offer more benefits to buy more hearing aids. I will inform you I am in Puerto Rico so the prices migth be more tricky here. Also, can you do some advice for us Usher Syndrome people hpw deal with our live or it is far from your expertise.
Good video on custom hearing aids. In your experience is there one manufacturer that seems to provide better feedback management that another? I wear high power Resound and was wearing high power Starkey prior and i seem to get better feedback control with Starkey so wondering what your experience has been with feedback control and manufacturer. And would a full shell custom help with feedback better than a half shell custom?
Full shells generally do a better job of preventing feedback because of less leakage of sound. You have to be careful with feedback management systems because sometimes they can reduce amplification levels that ultimately reduce your benefit. I generally recommend fixing the physical fit of the device then use feedback management to help. When it comes to best devices from a feedback standpoint, each brand does pretty good, so I suspect it is a leakage issue.
This may be in wrong topic but need help asap as am close to being where can't be returned..u stress real ear measure so found one that said they do it,got fitted and bought, asked when she would do check like your video shows and she said she already did it that phonix has REM built into program ,,could she be correct.have paradise 90t Need help,,
Phonak has a feature called Auto-REM, however, it still requires that you are hooked up to the external REM equipment. Did she actually place tubes inside of your ear canal and have the system match your prescriptive targets with the amplification levels. This would have likely taken at least 5-10 minutes. If it was the 30 second Feedback Manager that just plays a few beeps and whistles in each ear, then that is NOT REM.
@@DrCliffAuD I don’t understand what you are saying. Back to my other question, are you saying that out of all the zillions of hearing aid companies and models of hearing aids, that my very best bet is to sit down with a long list of companies/ models, and go from company to company ??? But, please tell me what you mean by BELLTONE.
Sorry, Beltone sells private labeled RESOUND hearing aids not Signia. Signia is MiracleEar. They are locked meaning you can only go to a Beltone to get them programmed and serviced. As for all other brands, they all do different things so the only way to know which is best is to take the time to properly evaluate you and your wants and needs.
@@DrCliffAuD . And also, that you refuse to comment on BELLTONE. Great, doc. Just great.
@@carolcole570 Beltone is private labeled Locked Resound. Hard for me to elaborate any more than that. Also, if you go to a private practice Audiology clinic, they will work with multiple brands and be able to recommend the best.

Also do you know what other hearing aids are good for singing? Cuz with the lyric it was amazing for singing but unfortunately I’m unable to use those
Thank-you so much for your reviews...has helped me very much in choosing the right hearing aid for my hearing condition.
I have been waiting for this video.🦻🏻
Thank you,
I doubt diving into a body of water would cause the Lyric device to dislodge and rupture the eardrum. At worst it would probably kill the hearing aid.
Wow ... good job, Cliff. I must have missed your video on the Lyric. It's great to know that people have so many choices. 😁

Nice Job Dr.Cliff....It gives a lot of insight to multiple platforms..
Dr. Thank you very MUCH for your very incredible informative and helpful hearing and hearing aid videos.
I have one question please reply on me what make difference between many brands like phonak, Belton Siemens,.. etc what make hearing device is good rather than other. and,
Is the matter just business or not ?
what are things supposed to be in the hearing device that to facilitate for me to choose this or that and thankyou
Thank you good information dr cliff
Dr.
What is the best sound quality CIC HEARING AID - moderate hearing loss to significant- thank you - price not a concern
There's no mention of Rexton brand Dr Cliff..they have one of the best hearing aids.
He uh doesn't do Costco hearing aids
Hello dr.cliff for you what is the best hearing aids for a patient with a profound hearing loss?ty
Sorry, can't make a general recommendation on what is the best until I have full understanding of the specific hearing loss and a patient's needs.
Can't do it without a comprehensive evaluation and consultation. No two people are alike. That is why I can't give a #1 in my videos.
Which the better? Oticon more 3 minirite r or phonak paradise p70?
You are exhibiting all of the reasons why an IIC hearing aid is not appropriate for your hearing loss. You likely need to be in a RIC hearing aid.
Hi Cliff out of all of them which one would you choose ?
Brilliant video as ever from Dr Cliff 👏
Thanks Ray!
Is there an in-ear hearing aid that is considered open/vented? I don't like the plugged up feeling.
Thanks for the information. I had starkey in ear canal sound lens. Went to Kaiser and they are pushing a new brand Oticon Opn 1 HS I wish I had seen the new starky rechargeable. Well I have 45 days to try the oticon out.
I hope to see a review of the Lively Hearing aids sometime. Is it in the near future? Thanks.
I need to take my dad in for his hearing loss. He doesn't want to go bc he's had several hearing aids that didn't work or were lost or broke or something happened. Thanks for the video. Please, Cliff, explain in simple words why in the ITE hearing aids are not appropriate for those who have severe to profound hearing loss. I suspect that the problem is the feedback but I expect your opinion.
Sometimes ITEs can be for Severe to Profound losses, it's just harder due to the increased risk of feedback.

Not sure if you answer questions….I am deaf in my right ear due to minerals decease many years ago. I have tried the phonic cross over but found it overwhelmed my left ear. Since I only hear in one ear is there availability and pricing for one aid?
Ok. I have in ear hearing aids and hearing myself breath makes me crazy anxious. I can’t stand it. Any help for that ?
What happens if you are out of town when the battery dies with the Lyric? Are you stuck with an ear plug or can you remove it yourself?
Wait the Virto doesn't have Bluetooth tech? I always thought it did
Please what about the cic oticon opns 2
Who is NOT compatible with Lyric? For example, can someone with a pacemaker, heart monitor, or other battery powered devices use Lyric? Is there anyone who should not use Lyric? Thank you.
Do you have opinions about middle ear implants compared to the Lyric?

Is the regular Phonak Marvel Virto the same as the Marvel Black featured here or are they different models? I know that the standard Marvel Virto also comes in a black color option among others, is that the one you mention?
Virto Marvel Black and Virto Marvel are the same hearing aid.

So each company have best hearings in your opinion. I have the Oticon hearing aids which did pretty well for me.
How much is the Lyric per year?
is there a place where i can go online, do a hearing test, and order my hearing aid that way? the Eargo Neo HiFi doesn't seem to be a good fit for me.. i need something with better amplification to fit my moderate hearing loss

Need help,,
Phonak has a feature called Auto-REM, however, it still requires that you are hooked up to the external REM equipment. Did she actually place tubes inside of your ear canal and have the system match your prescriptive targets with the amplification levels. This would have likely taken at least 5-10 minutes. If it was the 30 second Feedback Manager that just plays a few beeps and whistles in each ear, then that is NOT REM.
Widex Moment XP no??

BIG QUESTION. What about the ole standard BELLTONE ???
Beltone is Locked Signia.
@@DrCliffAuD I don’t understand what you are saying.
