He was not relatively inexperienced. He had plenty of experience in the Senate and elsewhere. Greatest President of our time. It amazes me how people either misquote history and present these scenario's that are just not true. Your understanding & knowledge is increased ten fold if you actually lived the times and saw it first hand.

The Kennedy men where real men . Always trying to help someone in need . JFK's initial choice for running mate was Stuart Symington, Missouri Senator.
However, LBJ, with the help of his good friend, J. Edgar Hoover, blackmailed Kennedy into turning to him for the VP candidate when Johnson produced proof of Kennedy's numerous affairs. As far as winning the election is concerned, JFK won the election on the strength of his performances during the televised presidential debates where he outshone (figuratively and literally) Richard Nixon.

C S, ... Good question. I don't know, But I believe JFK would view today's Democratic party as too conservative and Republicanesque. If President Kennedy were to look at today's political parties he might ask where did the Democratic party go. He would see a Liberal/Moderate 1970s Republican party on the Left and a Right Wing/John Birch party on the right.
... Kennedy, like many statesman of the period, subscribed to Keynesian economic policies. He was a supporter of the New Deal policies. He wanted Medicare for all. ( Yes, even back then they were talking about Medicare for all. FDR wanted a Government Medicare coverage for the American people. )
... Kennedy lambasted the Steel Company for raising their prices. I wonder what he would think of today's companies that have outsource their labor and production that has basically deindustrialized America.
