I love how they got depth on the dline I trust the coaching staff to coach them up and it pits pressure on kirk to perform the next 2 years penix will get some time to learn from a very good vet
I say it every year, I'm always in wait and see mode when it comes to the draft. I'll never understand the immediate freakouts people have one way or the other about the draft. Nobody knows anything until 2 or 3 years in. It also blows me away when people try to say things like "That's horrible value, you could have gotten him later." or "This guy sucks, the other guy they didn't draft is better." I wasn't a fan of the Penix pick immediately but I understand the logic behind it and Penix fits the offense so I'm not upset about them wanting to make sure they're covered for QB for the foreseeable future. In fact, I honestly kinda like that we're doing it the old school way of letting the rookie QB sit and learn. Overall, I'm meh on the draft until I see it on the field. But given I'm excited about Raheem Morris and the coaching staff he put together, I'm so ready for the season. I wish they would release the schedule already. LOL!
This is the year of the d-line we are going to get better on the D-line now we need some great finds in the undraft free agents

I agree with your grade Smitty. I’ve come around on Penix at 8. That being said, some of their later picks were definitely head scratchers. That being said, I’m gonna stay positive and trust the reasoning behind some of their picks.

wasted 1st pick, maybe 3 years from now he will play. Its like getting a brand new car, and just leaving it in the garage for 3 years.

Uncle Smitty!!! Much respect to you and your in depth analysis and perspective. I truly feel that you always look at the team and its players from an unbiased view. You are obviously a Falcon fan but there is never a feeling of Homerism when tou talk about the team. I completely agree with the Ruke i feel he was a reach and we could have stayed at 43 to get him. Which means we couldve kept 79 and possibly gone Wr or corner then. My overall grade would be a B- also which could have been a B+ if we had the 79th pick
I'll give them a B- now it's all on the players and coaches to get them to the next level we don't need anymore Tac's we need pure in the heart football players so coach them up and let's get on some hard knock out football !!!! Let's go Falcons
I definitely agree. I’d say overall a grade of a B+/A- could’ve easily grabbed a few more talented players but I understand the need of each pick. Ruke was a reach but his upside and potential are very high due to his athleticism so we shall see

For me it's about the coaching and who the Falcons bring in after the draft before the season starts. I'll go C+ on the draft.
The only problem I have is that TF is going out of his way to try to find the diamond in the rough. There are guys who are there. No need to trade up for Ruke! Kris Jenkins and Braden Fiske were there! The McClellan pick when you need receiver and CB help or Center. It's like they are going out of their way to try to look like geniuses. Just take the smart pick. It's right there! I get Penix. The tampering is going to take draft picks and Cousins should push us out of the top 10 draft picks anyway so no chance to draft a top QB the next 2 years.
I give this draft class a B+ or A- because they made some good moved to add to the Defensive Line but the biggest ? To me is why did they draft a RB when they could have got another Edge, CB, or S with that pick. I'm not tripping because it was late in the draft and they can get a UDFA but that just seemed like a completely wasted pick.
It was a good draft for the Atlanta Falcons not a great draft, my one complaint was how did the Falcons pass on DT Jer’Zhan Newton (Illinois) as he was right there for the taking and they drafted DT Ruke Orhorhoro (Clemson) instead then Newton went the very next pick, Newton is a much better d-tackle
B- As Well but switch out Dallas Turner n grab any other QB n A+. Nothin wrong with MPJ just didn’t need em. Like Bijan

We lost CP so we had to fill that spot with some fresh legs now we back with our 3 headed monster

did literally nothing to improve the offense. A guy sitting on the bench doesnt help you, a 3rd string running back doesnt help you, a receiver that may not play doesnt help you.
Dude u will see , yall don't get the Big picture if you think Penix not gonna be playing in 2 years u wrong ! That's been our problem never had a back up to make the starter QB play better ! Penix will play ! Bo Nix is just as old as Penix or older
Draft a C. Not a fan of Terry's drafting. He is better at free agency than drafting.
I’ll go C- total reach in second round. Could have gotten AD Mitchell..a steal. Gave up a 3rd rounder for someone that would’ve been there. Could’ve grabbed Koolaid Mckinstry. Coming around on Penix that got them off a D

I give it a hard C….that move with roku, the WR from illnois and the LB from notre dame was so outta left field, especially seeing the other needs we have at CB and WR…as always its a weight and see matter….
Terrible job, 1st pick completely useless for the next two years unless Kirk gets hurt, 6th pick drafting another Running back, when you have two really good ones already. Drafted a receiver who most believe wasnt even the better prospect on his own team.
