Hi Scribe. 52 year old guy here who spent many years of my life experiencing this music. I am blessed to have grown up in the era where music like this was being produced. Love the fact that you are taking the time to broaden your perspective and listen to some things that might not be so popular with your generation. Just seeing the look on your face sometimes when you make these videos is priceless and takes me back to a wonderful time in my life. Just wanted to mention you have a beautiful voice that reminds me a little of the late Karen Carpenter and you share her same spunky attitude. Most of your own videos I have seen are all hip hop and rap. Do you have any where you sing or have I missed them? You are very talented, keep up fighting for your goals and I'm sure you will make it. Please do a video covering the Carpenters and if you could cover or mix yourself one of their hits into your style would be awesome to see or hear. "Rainy Days and Mondays" or "Close to You." would really be interesting to hear you cover with your critique and vocally. God Bless!
Someone mentioned synths. Synths were fairly new back in the early 70's. Main player in the market is Moog. Pink Floyd were exploring experimental sounds and music for each album. If you watched live Pink Floyd concerts, you will notice there are 2 or more musicians (keyboardists) including late Richard Wright, founding member of Pink Floyd. David Gilmour has that many keyboardist for his solo tours too.
@Kevin Merkel it is. It's continues with have a cigar. It shares it's synth... This is more about everyday propaganda and how the media (machine including the industry) controlling the narrative and influences of the public
I actually think that this song is about the brainwashing of the New world order that is trying to control all humans with their evil antichrist agenda, which also includes false religion, this brainwashing is going on big time, welcome my son to the machine, that's straight out the anti Christ one world government.
"That synth" was the bomb / most high tech item back in the early/mid 70's (and archaic by today's standards); Pink Floyd were masters at using different combinations of voices, sounds (instrumental and non-instrumental) and layered instruments to create different moods and soundscapes. Glad you are enjoying - keep 'em coming!
@@jonnylumberjack6223 With what I could find online, Rick Wright used an EMS VCS 3 synthesizer, plus a Hammond organ, ARP String Ensemble, and a Minimoog (which I believe was the first commercially available synthesizer) - I have a little personal experience with the latter,: a band I was in during late 70's / early 80s, the keyboardist had a MiniMoog, and also a PolyMoog, which was really cool and had lots of sounds and controls (but keyboards back then did not have memory to store sound settings, so he was often changing the controls to create the sounds he wanted for different songs and different parts of songs.) If you'd like extreme details of Rick Wright's gear - i found this: sparebricks.fika.org/sbzine28/WrightGear-rev156.pdf
Best reactions on youtube, hands down...the fact that you are a musician and can identify certain aspects of a song that an average joe probably couldnt makes it even more cool to watch. Rock on!
You need to hear Pink Floyd's albums from beginning to end. They are concept albums with themes and a flow to them. Listening to the individual tunes out of order does them a great injustice.
So glad you did the video to this one ❤️ thanks for letting me get a flashback from the 80's lol 😘 I hope your enjoying your day so far and thanks again for your time to do this for us 😊
The sound is created from a synthesizer played by Richard Wright. An overlooked but very essential member that helped define who Pink Floyd are. "Wish You Were Here" album (1975) really gives Richard his time to shine!
PINK FLOYD was dubbed by a DJ in Milwaukee as Mind Music. Not only was it great concept Album's, but the DJ had it right. Scribe awesome reactions. 62 year old who grew up with these 4 decades of Music.
"Echoes in Pompeji" is thats were its at: pure genius by Floyd in its Prime, full of compassion and surrender, a perfect Fusion of 4 Floydian boddhisattvas crafting sound collages, echoing story telling vibes, puts you in a guiding and healing soul Train.
I think the weird bit at the end of the song was the ride in the elevator up to the penthouse suite. There you either played the game or was eaten by the machine.
Pink floyd sorrow or Echoes live in Gnask Poland. Dude it's so good! nobody ever reacts to the gnask concert and it's one of the best I was there and I can tell you it was awesome
My Dear... if you’re going to be “in the Business,” you got to know how this crazy shit works. It’s soulless. The Industry doesn’t give a damn and never did about who YOU really are or what you’re about. One word; money. This song was (depending on who you wish to believe) based on Syd Barrett’s (as well as most of the rest of the bands) disillusion with record companies, managers and whole lot of them... “Them”, being The Machine. It gets waaaaay deeper, but we don’t have the time. Please read the lyrics. Ciao.
Is it weird that when I was little this video used to give me nightmares? Lol but hell this isn't nothing, I made the mistake when I was little and watched the movie "The Wall", now that scared the shit out of me! Little did I know I would come to love everything about Pink Floyd lol
Have to agree , The Great Gig in The Sky will blow your mind . should also check the lyrics for Bob Dylan's Like a Rolling Stone then cover it in old school Rap ,you would Kill It
Stevie Ray Vaughan , Texas flood, live video at the El Mocanbo Steve Vai Tender Surrender, or "For the Love of God, live video Jimi Hendrix.......Voodoo Child ....Live at Woodstock Iron Maiden Run To The Hills Queen Bohemian Rhapsody official video , "We Are the Champions", live aid 1986
It's quite the contrast. Not necessarily Syd Floyd but those two singles in particular have the pre-Rubber Soul Beatles sound. More poppy I guess. Piper at the Gates of Dawn is a great album though. Very psychedelic.
This song is not about the music industry. It's about society. Society, with all its expectations, it's rules you need to follow to be allowed to fit in. That's the machine. Churning out sameness and mediocrity. Have a cigar (from the same album) is about the music industry (but in a way also about western capitalist society)
You are awsome I am new to your channel, Plz try Pink Floyd's comfortably numb the pulse concert that's a spiritual experience guarantee! P.S watch the video not the studio version
As with most Floyd songs there's more than one meaning. Specifically, it's about the music industry. Generally, it also addresses the 'everyman'. Meanings to do with power structures, money, capitalism, work and corporatism are all hinted at. As with all art, it's subjective nature means that there are few, if any, wrong meanings. Whatever meaning you get from it is 'right'. :)
I see Animals has been covered with Dogs, etc... Check out Not Now John or The Final Cut from the album of the same name. ;) Or What Do You Want From Me from Their albums after The Wall... \,,/
I didn't know you did this! Excellent reaction. Excellent song to react to. I'm digging you liking these guys. I felt like the machine was the industry. That's just me though
Love you and your reactions. Keep in mind that pink floyd songs run off each other back to back. Almost need to listen track 1 to end. Try to watch 'brick in the wall' when you get a chance 🤘❤💯 deep rabbit hole
Please allow the tracks to play out. You missed the “water drips” right at the end after the “party”. To me, it suggests loneliness,...like a recluse, and I think many ageing fans of Pink Floyd will know this is attributed to Syd Barrett....It’s a long story.
It always amazes me that someone thinks we want to watch them eat chips. Like, really? Then I guess, I suppose it is pathetic enough that we're online watching others react to things instead of DOING something ourselves or trying to be the next Pink Floyd in our own way....
Pink Floyd stuff to listen to? Give 'On The Turning Away' (ruclips.net/video/ojf18wT_Xtk/видео.html) or 'One Slip' (ruclips.net/video/pA26asdVH1E/видео.html) from the unfairly maligned Momentary Lapse Of Reason album a listen. The way some people reacted to Momentary Lapse Of Reason demonstrated only too clearly that 1. You can't please all of the people all of the time, and 2. that even amongst 'fandom' there are sheeple who listen to what other voices tell them rather than letting their ears do the listening and their own brains do the deciding. BTW; it's interesting that so many Floyd (and other bands of the time!) fans love to talk about the meaning of the lyrics - you know; the stuff about "the industry" or "the evils" of corporate dominance, "war" etc, etc, etc... and if you think about who the people are who now run "the industry", the corporations that currently dominate people's lives and those who still have zero compunction in sending others to war, they are from the generation that loves to pat itself on the back for what it learned from listening to these bands... What a bunch of hypocrites.
The crazy thing about this girl is, she can come across really brash when you first tune in. But when it comes down to it, she has a fine musical ear and always has something to say about the music and is pretty knowledgeable. Cool.
Avoid Queen, too mainstream for you. If you don't want to get blocked and I sense you are musical and imaginative, like a bit of a journey, so there's a lot to explore in the 60's and 70's that will pass. For US artists of the era, I suggest The Doors, Steely Dan, Frank Zappa. You've focused on 3 UK bands currently, You'll get a kick out of Yes, King Crimson,, Pre 80's Genesis,, Just the lip of this particular Rabbit hole...
DON'T "avoid" Queen or ANY other band scribe. Part of broadening your musical experience is listening to EVERYTHING. If you don't listen to Queen you will miss out on hearing some of the greatest songs ever written one of if not the greatest singers and history, and one of the most original guitar players to ever walk the Earth.
I agree, “the song is a trip”, like most Pink Floyd songs, and it’s meant to be heard while tripping on either LSD, mescaline or hallucinogenic mushrooms.

@Kevin Merkel are you saying you don't like the Floyd or the Carpenters?

You still need to do The Great Gig in the Sky by Pink Floyd.
i can't wait
This song is about the music INDUSTRY.
@Kevin Merkel it is. It's continues with have a cigar. It shares it's synth... This is more about everyday propaganda and how the media (machine including the industry) controlling the narrative and influences of the public
Great thing about art is you get to decide how it applies to you. They wrote it about the music industry, but other interpretations are valid.
no man it´s about human civilisation becoming a facist monster

The album is about Syd.

was it a Moug?? think that was the very first synth?

You should have your own talk show.....so entertaining! Always heart and soul, wonderful person.

"That whole song was a trip", PERFECT!
You need to hear Pink Floyd's albums from beginning to end. They are concept albums with themes and a flow to them. Listening to the individual tunes out of order does them a great injustice.
you gotta try Shine On You Crazy Diamond
it's a two part song, it bookends the Wish You Were Here album, so hopefully you can do them both...
This is a transition song.
Pink Floyd - Echoes (live) Pompeii 1972.
Just watch this, it's a must listen.
And about how they try to control the musicians
So glad you did the video to this one ❤️ thanks for letting me get a flashback from the 80's lol 😘 I hope your enjoying your day so far and thanks again for your time to do this for us 😊
The sound is created from a synthesizer played by Richard Wright. An overlooked but very essential member that helped define who Pink Floyd are. "Wish You Were Here" album (1975) really gives Richard his time to shine!
You have to do "Dogs" by Pink Floyd. It is their masterpiece.
Maybe David's. Roger's is The Wall. But yeah. Its my favorite too.
@@danieljodrey751 Waters wrote Dogs, too.
Gerald Scarfe did the visuals in this video. He also worked on “The Wall”.

This song is a trip!!!
Can you do Echoes live in Pompeii from 1971, parts 1 and 2? It's amazing
Echoes studio version comes first (1971), the original sculpting and crafting.
Studio version is definitely better.

The lead synth is most likely a Minimoog, and I think it's an EMS Synthi doing the effects. Both sooper-classic synths!
The strings are an Arp Solina, and the other synths are a Synthi-A VCS3 and a Minimoog🎸
gelsol The lead synth is actually an ARP 2600
This is greatness. You are great.
I know you will love CREAM. Awesome band
I know I will love CREAM, too!
Man. I really miss acid sometime.
Finally got my hands on some last fall. Communed with the cosmos.
The Rolling Stones -- Can't You Hear Me Knocking, Street Fighting Man, Gimme Shelter The Moody Blues -- Nights In White Satin (Full Version), Gypsy
That synth sound was an EMS VCS 3. A vintage synth.
GREAT GIG IN THE SKY 🔥 #Eargasm #PinkFloyd #Next

you´re my favourite reaction freak 🤪😝😛
YES....Thx for that
ppl say it's about the music industry, i believe it's about life and it is the most depressing, beautiful song
The tolling of the iron bell that calls the faithful to their knees
The dream is making it in the music industry.
Love it! But definitely do "The great gig in the sky"
I think the weird bit at the end of the song was the ride in the elevator up to the penthouse suite. There you either played the game or was eaten by the machine.
