These are the rally cars of my childhood! I remember playing WRC4 from the 2004 season on PS2. It was the first rally game I've ever played (and in fact, one of the very first games I've played). Since then, these are some of my favorite cars. Never really got to see any of them live yet. Back then, you could race in our national championship (Czech Republic) with WRC cars (in fact, quite a few clips of WRC cars in this video are from the Czech championship!). I sadly missed that era, I was just a small kid before the WRC cars were banned from the national championship, so I never got to see them. Well, let's hope in a few years, some people will start entering these in historic rallies in my country!
I'm Japanese and was in elementary school at the time. This rally also came to Tokachi, Japan. My father took me there. It was a vivid experience that I will never forget. So all of the rally cars from that year hold fond memories for me. Toyota is still active in the WRC today, but I like the WRC from that time much better. In those days, there were a wide variety of cars that looked closer to production cars than there are now. I miss the experience of being able to see those cars up close.
