In this video I do a walkthrough of the horror films you could class as 'slashers' in my collection; some supernatural, some giallo, and many straight-forward teen hack-em-ups!
Just watched the first half of this video and loving it! That's really cool about 'Maniac Cop', Simon! Will definitely have to pick that one up now that I know it has the original CBS Fox artwork :) Looking forward to watching the rest this evening!
cool thing that maniac cop, wow!, had that on vhs and it had same style cover-picture, maybe cops eyes were more visible, and ofcourse our old vhs-version was cut over 3 minutes.
Hey Simon. Thanks alot for this response. Wow, thats so awesome about that Maniac Cop Blu ray, congrats. Some awesome titles there and I love those VHS. You missed the Psycho collection. TCM is a slasher. Yeah, I'm getting 12 from you. I want to get Torso, The Carpneter, Humongous, Bloody Moon, Axe, Shock, Buried Alive, Pumpkin Karver, Slaughterhouse, Slaughtered, Stage Fright, Timber Falls, Sledgehammer, Alone in the Dark, Massacre at Central High, 976 Evil and Edge of the Axe.
@jevilscientist Thanks! I'm around 2800 now I think. This video is a month old but I've had a bunch of comments in the past hour, has somebody linked it? How did you find it?
@Ringvireot Hi mate! I started collecting DVD in 1998 and only ever had about 30 ex-rental VHS back then. I went big on DVD for ages but in the past 2 years I started getting back into VHS, and Bluray of course!
Haha. I have a 46" LCD and a 32" LCD in other rooms. The 32" is the one I watch things on the most, but in the cave I quite like having an old CRT. Though changes are afoot that may see it replaced with the smaller LCD screen...
Thanks mate! I know that Dom/VHSCannibale has the Dead Pit with blinking eyes tape. I don't have many fancy tapes like that, just the hologram Future Cop and Video Dead and a couple of others. Got some ghost film with googly eyes on the cover haha. That's about it though!
Sweet collection dude, but how can anyone in their right mind consider Freddy Krueger and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre not slasher films. Here in America they are categorized as slasher horror films.I have several friends that are in the horror acting business and were in some of the classic slasher films and they too thought that it was weird to not consider the stated above movies as slasher films. You might as well consider Jason,Chucky, maniac cop, and candy man non-slasher films. Even at Comic-Con conventions they are known as slashers!
Wow you dug up an old video of mine here haha. I don't even live in that house anymore. Anyway - no, I don't consider TCM a slasher. For starters, it predates Halloween (the first real American slasher) by four years. TCM is basically a reverse home invasion film; Leatherface isn't actively out to kill teenagers, he's defending his family from invaders. The dinner scene is not something you would see in a slasher. As for the A Nightmare on Elm Street films, the case is less obvious but I don't include it because of the overwhelming fantasy elements.
I have over 2000 plus dvds..All of your mentions I have..Great taste!!!
10 years old, yet still fascinating to see, with some still envy eye raising items I am now tracking down..lol
Good god I shot this on a potato!
I REALLY like your collection!!! Awesome movies and very nice. Slasher overview.

Great collection, but that's an OLD school TV. With that sick collection of movies, you DESERVE a better TV to watch them on, no?

@TulsaMovieDen It's not the best, but the cover is cool!
X-Ray (1981) Not the double feature w/ Schizoid, just the individual disc.
This is a very, very old video! I have X-Ray and Schizoid on separate blu-ray releases now.
Hey mate, that would be Shameless, a UK label that specialises in horror and exploitation/trash cinema. They are up to 34 releases now I think.

Why would you not include Nightmare on Elm Street?
Too supernatural for me to be a slasher, it fits in more with Phantasm.
Can't stand them!
@simpsonsfanism Thanks!
