Just finished looking at that seminar I mentioned. Using audio IS a lot more involved. This is really quite brilliant on many levels Omri. I'm serious. Thanks.
This is epic!! Been talking about using touch designer with my modular for ages, now the excuses are over, need to start using more VCV rack and exploring this thank you so so much!!
Omri, I just learned about TouchDesigner, and thought it would be really cool to use with VCV rack. I love your videos and watch them all the time, so I was so happy when I saw you made a tutorial. Thank you! I would really love to see more tutorial incorporating VCV rack and touchdesigner. Keep it up!!!
Sometimes I think you can read minds. I had TouchDesigner lying around in my download folder for a while and just installed it yesterday. Before going to bed I was thinking about how to get the Siganal from VCV Rack into this new Tool. And today I discover that you have made a tutorial on this subject. Omri, many thanks for that :D
The trowaSoft modules look good! I hadn't really thought about OSC with VCV. Like I mentioned in chat, I'm interested in lasers too and VCV CV controlling a laser with Touchdesigner might be lissajous fun 😎
Reminds me that I need to get back to Touchdesigner...i also did sone tests with OSC and VCV. It is a really interesting and deep program...but i think this time i will try to work with audio signals and feedback...audio feeding some visuals that is feeding back into the audio signal and generating new visuals etc etc...
Couldn't make it to the live stream this time, it's great to learn you're also interested in audiovisual art. I haven't used TD in years, but I used OSC to send signals from Renoise to TD back then (before I switched from Renoise to Reaper to Bitwig to Live to VCV, haha) . I've already noticed trigseq64 by trowasoft (my fav trigger sequencer btw) has OSC, but never got around actually using it, as my PC has a hard time to handle my VCV patches without running other software in parallel... Great you pointed out there is cvOSCcv, I certainly will try this as soon as my daytime job will let me.
Excellent tutorial! The new TouchDesigner, which was recently released, now supports VST3. Have you tried to use the Dolby Atmos Music Panner's VST3 to output audio from Touch to a Dolby Atmos system, e.g., a 9.2.4 setup? Or is there a better workflow when using Touch with VCV Rack Pro? Thanks!
Thanks! I didn't try Dolby Atmos, no. But, for now, VCV is only in VST2 format so I hope it will be a VST 3 in the future and then the sky is the limit!
@@OmriCohen-Music seriously! miRack does have a VST3 option... but I find the responsiveness and UX to be inferior to VCV. On the plus side, Vampyr, etc., are easily available within miRack, no installation tricks required.
Does touch designer have a av input? I want to use the camera i have and want to run trough the nature while it makes noise i do that with a hardware graphic synthesizer but only can use the different between black and white.
Hi, no, not really, but there's a pre release you can download and it should work :) You can find the files here - github.com/j4s0n-c/trowaSoft-VCV/releases/tag/v2.0.4-alpha Download the file for your system under Assets and place it in the VCV plugins folder. If you don't know where it is, you can open VCV, and under Help choose Open User Folder. Just place the file in the plugins folder there and restart VCV. Cheers!
@@OmriCohen-Music Thanks Omri. You mentioned something about Reaper & TouchDesigner and it didn't occur to me until later that your video was prior to the release of the VST version of VCV Rack. Do you have a video clarifying this?
I wish I had a second pc to run touchdesigner.. touch designer the payed versions come with NDI support. I Have been experimenting with NDI cameras for a local community's stream and it works so well. i would be a great way to offload the stress of running touchdesigner and add some cool live visuals.
@@AM-ui9mc it's a protocol/technology to stream video over ethernet. some/most recording and streaming software can have that stream as an input source. some streaming software can also output as an NDI device. it's very useful for multi-room streaming setups or if you don't have a capture card.
How would you do it if you wanted the sound after the mixer? I know it wouldn’t let you bypass the effects like you did here, but won’t the visual react to the voices whether or not they’re audible if you adjust the mixer over the course of a performance?
Well, you can always use a VCA in between and control it as you control the mixer. I prefer to use the sound from in between the patch and not the end result so, for example, if I have long delays or big reverbs, they will not effect the visuals and only the raw sound will. But yeah, you can use the end result as well directly from the mixer.
@@OmriCohen-Music Ah - the vca could go wherever in the chain, so as to avoid the effects. Also if the effects are a send and return from the mixer they wouldn't be in the incoming signal. Thanks!

Omri, you outdid yourself. Now I have to download TD and have a go at it.
Your VCV patch is very nice.
