Yeah dude I've been hitting against the wall in my garage for a while now since my local club closed down. It's not perfect but hey at least it's something.
Thank you so much, Squash TV!! Awesome that you keep on with the Free Game Fridays, and turned it into a Free Match Friday the day just after 😎😎 Helps a lot to stay at home
Thanks PSA for lovely contest, you guys engaging all squash lovers with your channel, both are remarkable players, Lee Drew and PJ doing great, keep it up PSA !
one small request. though your production quality is uniformly excellent, sometimes the volume of the commentators is higher than the sounds from the court. it's especially apparent when the commentators exclaim loudly. could you balance them a bit better for subsequent matches? thanks a bunch!
you should try using tech for refing in or out ball, and prehaps suggestion for yes/no let. Those have been applied in like tennis or volleyball LONG time ago for a better judge
@PSASQUASHTV can you please bring back the "a day with..." series? It would also be nice to see some videos like "describe Ali Farag in one word" and then show clips which demonstrate that trait of the player. ATP Tennis TV does a lot of this cool stuff which would really help market the sport and its players. Thanks!
Stroke at end of first game worth another look. Trajectory of the ball was close to Abouelghars body yet he exaggerated his swing towards Rosner. If he’d swung at that latter trajectory theres a possibility he may have missed the ball. If he’d swung at the actual trajectory the ball was travelling he could’ve hit it without interference from Rosner. Perhaps, like golf and cricket, this could be the next technological enhancement to our great game. A ball tracer that highlights the line of the ball relative to the players position.
Folks, talking about referees decisions, we all should know that Refereeing isn't an easy job, it's really a hard job, it requires a lots of training and as Lee Drew said, referees need to develop all the time by doing matches, matches and matches. There is always good and bad days but we should encourage and appreciate referees to boost their confidence thanks
PSA; there's a request, it'd be a great pleasure should you post the matches between Leo Au/Aboulghar and Paul Coll/Omar Mossad at PSA world championship 2019 at Qatar, thanks
Big thanks to PSA for putting up the game. I always find it quite strange that the commentators are always tilted towards one side, in this case Rossner. How could AEG see the ball when SR is standing right in his path obstructing his view. That decision at 1.05.11 is a terrible one
I have not played squash in so long, 1 and a half months! I feel weird when watching squash now. Now since my provincial squash federation has cancelled all events, I am sadly scared that I will not play squash in a long time. When I go back, I know for a fact, I will lose at least 20% of my previous skill level.
This is not a complaint whatsoever, but aren't all your recordings 50/60fps now? You can really tell the difference when it's below that fps. Thanks, keep up the great streams etc during lockdown :)
Why did Abouelghar "hug" Rösner with his left arm though, instead of using all his effort to pick up the ball? He even stops little to exaggerate that he is being blocked [which he isn't]. Not very smart to try and manipulate the refs in this manner, and particularly when you don't have any reviews left.
Same as anything else, always very slight variations in the manufacturing process (different batch of rubber, different mold, etc., even though it's all supposed to be standardized).
From the description: 'Sorry it's not in 50 fps, we're working with compressed files and poor internet at the moment due to the lockdown (we had already put together the Free Game Friday a while ago!) but hopefully you'll enjoy it anyway 😀"
Unpopular opinion, no let is the correct call at match point. Abouelghar hit a loose length then went for rosner with minimal traffic issue. With his skill, he should try to hit the ball out of the left back corner.
Shame it ended on that dubious no let decision; Abouelghar clearly could have got to the ball - why don't these refs reflect a bit before making these knee-jerk decisions?
Are you kidding me with that last decision?! And specially after sending the previous one which was a clear stroke to the video ref! This is really unfair; ruined the whole match.
Yeah these misguided no-let calls- at 3-2 in 5th, match ball, e.g.- reward the lumbering slow blockers and punish the agile retrievers. Bad for the game and will lead to pushing and shoving.
I love squash but it’s never going to reach the upper echelon of sports in terms of recognition without competent refs. Some of the decisions made by ~professional ~ refs are downright laughable and it’s an insult to the sport’s legitimacy not to fix them. They’re the reason we’re still not in the olympics and people ask squash players if they play indoor tennis.
That could be part of it, but I think the main reason squash has not blown up in the way it deserves is because of how hard it is to play for most people because there are no free courts and clubs are quite expensive for many. To add to my point, this is extremely clear if you look at the most popular sports in the world today. Sports like soccer, basketball, tennis, table tennis, and volleyball can be played almost anywhere and public courts are relatively cheap to make which is why they are so dominant throughout the world.
I think that refereeing in squash is a lot more difficult than in other sports because of the constant interference of the players with each other and the high pace it's happening at. Even in replays it's often difficult to judge whether a situation is a let or a stroke, so there will always be grey areas and no clear black-and-white decisions. That said, I think that currently there's certain situations that are systematically judged in ways that I strongly disagree with. Examples are players pushing their opponent towards the ball and then asking (and getting) a stroke, and not getting a let if the ball clings to the wall even though there's still plenty of time to get to the ball.
This ref should be banned - after the previous calls comes another joke at 1;07;54 - Rosner goes the wrong way then the momentum pushes him into Abouelghar but the ball is to his forehand - for God`s sake even an average club ref would recognize that as no let - total garbage. He has been so consistently bad in other matches - don`t they do match analysis for refs? The same goes with players - in the same game later Rosner hits a loose ball almost through his body and acts as if it was super tight? - another joke - only this time the genius ref called a stroke. Hooray!
Iron Man that’s absolutely right. I was kinda hot headed and hadn’t considered that. Just wish squash refs could be something I loved about the sport as well
@@jerryw2785 I don't think the ref was very bad, I just see him and also the video referee making the same (IMO wrong) judgments in the same kind of situations because they seem to have become the unwritten standard. The situation at 14:10 is such an example IMO: at the moment/ball position that Abouelghar would normally hit the ball, there was no interference by Rösner and he actually can be seen to start his swing but he stops it and lets the ball go. Only after letting the ball get far behind him there was indeed interference, but normally a player will *never* hit the ball in that position. In my opinion, that's a let and not a stroke because in that position he cannot hit the front wall anymore but only hit a boast. But the player doing that always gets the stroke.
I was and am a Rosner fan . But belive me that was the worst refree that any one can ever get. It was awfull . How many rubbish decisions i cant belive it
I miss playing squash so much!

The Egyptians add an amazing component to the style of squash, but the Germans & Swiss add to the game a significant national character of their own.
@us-Bahn nah not really
Isn’t it fun to be contrary and negative? Try Kids RUclips you might find better traction there
@@us-Bahn just an opinion like your own lol
@Squash TV for the next free game Friday can we get Elshorbagy vs Gawad 4th game at channel vas please

They said in the description they have bad internet due to lockdown and that’s why they couldn’t get it in 50fps
@@phinbillington1342 sorry didn't read the description. Thanks 😂
The decision on that last point!! This is why squash will never make it to Olympics.

You forgot the \s
Pretty sure old Sheldon doesn’t ref outside the US any more, there’s a reason for that...
can someone explain to me why squash balls are different sometimes?
Same as anything else, always very slight variations in the manufacturing process (different batch of rubber, different mold, etc., even though it's all supposed to be standardized).
No Let at the end ??
Awesome
At 1-0 in the 5th, at 1:01...video ref gave no let. Clear stroke, as Abouelghar can' take any backswing.
How the h*** could the deem it a no let at the end?? Jeez.. Refereeing is sooo inconsistent..
I thought it was going to be in fps60 or 50
From the description: 'Sorry it's not in 50 fps, we're working with compressed files and poor internet at the moment due to the lockdown (we had already put together the Free Game Friday a while ago!) but hopefully you'll enjoy it anyway 😀"
@@squashtv when is squashtv going to have 50fps? Much better if all members could enjoy better quality in full match. Regards.
We’ve just upgraded our player provider, so the next event on there should be 50fps

Also the ball died at the back.
That No Let at the end was bad by the referee...not good at all.......... a let all day long...........a good and exciting match otherwise.
That 8-7 no let call in the 4th game was rough
