A marching band in wooden shoes! LIKE! I feel for the sousaphone player, but it looks like he was holding his own! Beautiful tulips everywhere-- looks like a good time was had by all! I'm putting it on the list!

What a fun place! There is a huge festival and many tulips just North of me, lovely too! Those clog dancers are something! I remember my grandmother wearing wooden bottomed clogs.

Mike and Jen, we've enjoyed your video of our Hometown of the last 24 years. To provide an answer to two of your questions. The wooden shoes were used in the Netherlands because the muddy soil will roll off the wood, instead of collecting as leather shoes would. The different pattern in the clothes you saw represents the various regions of the Netherlands, indicting where within the country people were from. Following is a link to explain: www.tuliptime.com/dutch-heritage/dutch-dance/costumes

What fun. Sonething for the bucket list.
My friend has her wooden shoes by the back door and uses them when she gardens. And she uses thick boot socks. She's loves that her feet don't get wet.

Great video Mike and Jennifer! You really captured the beauty of our hometown spring festival. We relocated to Holland over 30 years ago. It’s a great place to raise a family. Tulip Festival, Lake Michigan beaches, Sunsets, Hope College, downtown shops and excellent restaurants are a few of the many perks. Please return someday with the family and stay for awhile longer.

This trip is a flower lovers bucket list. It's amazing! We were there over the weekend and I wished we could have ran into you to say hi. I unfortunately left my camera at home and didn't realize it until 200 miles away so we were excited to watch your video to re-live it. Plus we wanted to make sure we didn't miss anything while we were there. Thank you for answering why so many Leisure RVs were there. We saw them everywhere and didn't know why. Great video and keep them coming.

You made it to my home town!!! Next you will need to go to Pella and Orange City, Iowa, then on to Skagit Valley, Washington for their Tulip Festivals too. We used to wear two pair of socks with carpet as inserts. Every Providence in the Netherlands used to have their own traditional dressing style. I bet the Delf wear was made in China, we were in the Netherland and most of it there was made in China too.

We really didn't get much of a chance to interact with the other owners. They kept us very busy going from event to event and seeing all the attractions. It was a great event and those we met were super nice. Only regret is we didn't have a lot if time to see other people's coaches.

So did you end up getting your own wooden shoes? Thanks for this video. Since Holland, MI isn't so far away from us and we expect to get our custom built Class-B in about 14 weeks then maybe next year we will attend at least part of the event. I like the idea of being able to have our beds, bathroom and a place to "chill" with us - rather than worrying about what hotel we will need to book, etc.. Hope to see you(s) on the road someday soon. Cheers from Indianapolis.

Sue Kelderhouse I only went to Central for one year in 1968 then I transferred and graduated from University of Central Oklahoma. I worked for the State of Missouri in Macon MO and we came up to Pella, Rathbun and Red Rock Lake often. I saw a lot of this Tulip Festival via their webcams this year and what they showed in the video I was impressed on how big Holland’s festival has grown. The parade lasted for two hours and they have the biggest windmill. Their video brought back many old memories. My class reunion in Orange City is always held during Tulip Festival. I even saw a Dutch dog in the webcam during the Festival, the breed is called Stabyhoun. We had two and actually brought one up to the Festival in Pella and I couldn’t believe no one recognized the breed.
