      Glad you posted that, too!! 250 here. I’m trying to figure out if long enough length for Aventon Sinch folding 20" wheel e-bike. 6’2" I have seat jacked up quite high and the folding frame is lower. It’s also a less common 30.4mm diameter and seeking correct shim.

    In many ways, the RedShift ShockStop is the best (i.e., most comfortable and somewhat acceptably heavy) suspension seatpost I have tried or owned. Its only disadvantage (beside the rather excessive price) is the measly 110kg rider weight limit. The by.Schulz 2.0 (LT) & the most current generation ThudBuster ST (i.e., G4) are both rated to 150kg. load limit, although I doubt either one (especially the ThudBuster) is quite as comfortable.
    Another weakness of the ShockStop is its sandblasted finish (the ThudBusters are CNC machined!). With tweaks, such as CNC machining, a recommended load limit lift and lowered price, the ShockStop would be competitively untouchable.

    Preferred the stiffer double spring setup as well.

    I have one and I love it, although I do swap to a standard seatpost based on the terrain I’ll be riding. I keep each post with its own saddle so switching between them is a matter of a couple of turns of an allen key.

    Here are a few ideas for new videos:
    - Comparison (including weights, comfort, specs, experience using, etc.) of various suspension seatposts (i.e., RedShift ShockStop, the imminent RedShift ShockStop dropper, previous iteration Cane Creek ThudBuster LT, previous iteration Cane Creek ThudBuster ST, latest iteration Cane Creek ThudBuster LT, latest iteration Cane Creek ThudBuster ST, the SunTour NRS, Tranz-X QR, etc.)
    - Comparison of various suspension stems (i.e., RedShift ShockStop, Kinekt, Tranz-X), etc.
    - Detailed reviews of RedhShift Kitchen Sink handlebars and various handlebar add-ons.
    - Reviews of quality handlebar tape (incl. my favourites from Fabric, Lizard Skin, etc.)
    - Reviews of TailFin racks & bags (and comparisons between various models)
    - Reviews of items like, say, the HammerHead Karoo.
    - Tests and reviews of stock and mixed-and-matched Sram (eTap AXS, Eagle, AXS, various Sram & third-party chains & cassettes), Shimano, etc. drivetrains, freehubs, compatibility tests, etc.
    - Tests of various carbon, titanium, steel, aluminium [gravel] bikes. By the way, your purple carbon steed is a beauty! Bikes for comparison: the delightful Salsa WarBird, the Genesis Datum (if you can come across one; they're now out of production), Norco Search XR Carbon, Norco Search XR Steel, Ghost Road Rage -series, Vielo V+1, Accent Feral, Accent Freak, Simplon Inissio 2021, Rodeo Labs Trail Donkey, Pinarello Grevil+, custom-made Waltly chinese titanium bikes, etc.
    - Comparisons between various breakaway designs (i.e., the 2 different Ritchey Breakaway designs, S&S couplers, the 22Bicycles minimalist split standard)
    - A review of the 22Bicycles "Brake Break” hydraulic coupler for brake hoses, a Godsend for cycle tourists with distaste for mechanical brakes.
    - Reviews of quality wheels & parts from Spinergy, Scope, Trek / Bontrager, Mavic, Princeton, Zipp, i9, Chris King and many others.
    - Reviews of breakthrough technology products
    - …and more.
    As Nietzsche (or was it Darwin?) said, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. What doesn't drive you bankrupt, will score you lots of followers: I have no doubt you deserve it (the latter, not the former).
    Cheers, mate…

    I'm pleased with the Redshift stem I put on my commuter bike (which already had a Kinekt seatpost). But for the seatpost on a different commuter I opted for the Cane Creek eeSilk (on order) due to its lighter weight and minimal travel (road riding only).

    Hello, I'm looking to get this seat post for my checkpoint alr5, the seat post is 330mm length, and the redshift is 350mm length, I'm 5'7 height. Is the lenght of redshift seatpost will be okay? Thanks

    • @LockedinCycling
      @LockedinCycling  3 года назад

      Yes the redshift being longer should be fine, to double check, mark off where ur seatpost is set too, then measure how much is into the frame, make sure the extra 20mm won’t hit ur bottle cage bolts

    I had 7 back surgeries so I’m looking for a shock absorbing seat post for my bike. Problem is my seat post says the seat post is 25mm and most don’t come that size. I’m kind of new at this so if someone can maybe offer me some advice I’d greatly appreciate it.

    • @LockedinCycling
      @LockedinCycling  2 года назад +1

      So unfortunately you’d need a new frame / bike . It you had a bigger seatpost like a 31.9 you can shim it down.

    There are dozens of other suspension seat posts on the market. How do we know this one is worth the extra price?

    • @LockedinCycling
      @LockedinCycling  3 года назад +1

      There are, and I’m testing another option that should be up next week. From my knowledge this one still has the most travel outta all the others so that’s where the cost pays off if you need it.

    Why not go with a complaint carbon post, less mechanism, a good seat post can give you 20mm of flex, weighs less and no hassle?

    • @LockedinCycling
      @LockedinCycling  4 года назад

      I will be making a video on this topic, trust me the ride of this is in a different league compared to any carbon post ive ridden. This post makes bumps basically disappear so you can maintain speed and power output when your on trails.

      Because they are for shock absorption, the bottom half of that 20mm travel ramps up so dramatically that it might as well be rigid, 20mm in theory, 5-10mm in practice, too brittle for flexy applications and very sensitive to seatpost clamp force.

    If you are under 5"6 forget about it- but they wont tell you this! So I gave the company my specs. Looked promising and hopeful and I was very excited to receive this upgraded kit. (Bought both the stem and seat post combo.) First they sold me the wrong shim, problem corrected. -refunded -had to buy the right size (generic brand) elsewhere or be slugged $60 post. Next the seat post- 4 cm too long -and you cant cut it! Redshift are happy to accept a return, BUT costing me $90 -*-out of pocket-*- (since the item is around 1/2 kg!) not good enough. I would have been happy to have an exchange when the smaller sizes (presumably because so many female/ shorter riders had the same issue, returning them) come out mid year,...but having to pay return post from australia...while still under warranty when the advice was not clear?...not good enough!!!!. Paying premium for an item that wont work...Ill sell on eBay...and lose only about half of what I would on post. This has left a bad impression on me and I'm reluctant to deal with them again after this- even though I was hopeful of this product. Boys club, womens specific sizing seems an afterthought. Too bad they couldn't tell me this when I placed an order.

      It’s a balance you learn with the post , tire pressure effects how active
      It feels, you probably loose some on paved climb but on gravel climb it helps keep rear wheel grounded
