This is the 3rd or 4th AT clip, you must really like this one. Now for my question: how does this compare to the NT1100? You've mentioned before you liked the NT better for on-road touring, but AT had better suspension. Now you have a more street-oriented AT, does this version offer you what the NT had and 21" AT didn't?
Good question, but even if it is a little better, it's too expensive, a slightly used NT is almost half a price and really a great value for money right now.
0:31 signal recommends 40 km/h, Schaaf sees 1 40, at least! I don't know why bother of blurring it, either way the limit on that road is 50, and 120 is on the minus 6points already. Don't misunderstand me, I love to watch and hear it.
Amazing video as usual (the best sounding for sure!) Question on the ground clearance, seems you are scratching the pegs very early here, how does it compare to the GS or Multistrada? On paper it has 250mm compared to those 2 (220 and 175) so should have plenty but it doesnt look like it?
if I'm not mistaken you were in S1 mode, in S3 mode it keeps the low gear more when cornering, making it more ready and reactive. I also tried it a few months ago, and as the owner of a manual AS 2023 with quick, I must say that Honda has done a great job with this 19", I too noticed the differences you listed, even the engine is more responsive in the mid-bass. Excellent guide, congratulations, you've swiped the platforms several times 😂
Very good video Schaaf! Thanks for uploading. I think the bike is beautiful and while I agree with your sentiments regarding the 19" wheel I dislike that this is the direction that ADV bikes are going. I'm on the opinion that these bikes are made for adventure rides, gravel/dirt roads some offroad and only occasionally the highway. I am completely aware that I am in the minority with my opinion because the GS and the AT sells like hot cakes. I just feel like if you want to tour asphalt and have fun in the twisties you should get something else.. Brands are just reacting to the customers needs but I think those needs are ill-informed.. Regarding the DCT. I think the tech itself is amazing but it will never be able to predict the future like the rider can and chose the correct gear BEFORE entering a corner. However a couple months ago I saw a guy with who had one leg and rode a DCT VFR1200. For him, it is a necessity so I really like that there are true bikes offering automatic transmission. I did a tour in Morocco and one of the guys came with this exact model after upgrading from the 2022 version. He was riding two-up with a lot of baggage and they had a lot of fun. This is a very capable machine for touring. He was a sporty rider for sure and got accustomed to how the DCT behaves pretty well. The semi-active suspension visibly made riding for them more enjoyable. I have no idea how Honda did it but that 100hp really felt like much more when I saw them coming out of corners with that much extra weight. Take care Schaaf!
Thanks Attila! Well, there's a few companies who actually just started to introduce 21'' models (Ducati, MV) so I'd say the direction is alright. Although it would be great to see more real light weight ADVs. I recently rode the Beta Alp 4.0 and that thing is so much fun!!
Brands don’t react to “customer needs,” because only a handful of people are ever going to ride off-road on a $20k bike they can’t fix. They dream up what they think you might buy, then spend on marketing to convince you to want it. All the major bike journos are merely marketing companies, that’s why no one has the cojones to tell you that trying to ride across Siberia or the Sahara on a Ducati is an incredibly hazardous plan. If you actually wanted to do adv riding, the klr and drz already exist.

Thanks, loved that! Great sound, great bike and great vid you put together. Very informative - I'm looking at buying one and particularly found your comments re the 19 & 21 inch wheels very useful. Cheers from Sydney Australia. (which country are you in?)
Hi Schaaf! It seems like the indicators/warning lights start flashing pretty early right?, some of the braking performed didn't look that hard but it was flashing on almost "every" corner.
Also the DCT cannot be ridden in the twisties in a D mode. You need to be in a manual mode and downshift before the corners. In that case the ABS and the emergency stop signals won't interfere...
Hi sir, it seems that the pegs scrape the asphalt much earlier compared to the previous model with the 21 inch front wheel. You don’t seem to be using the flippers to shift down before the corner, is that on purpose? I do that all the time.
@@SchaafAlthough I appreciate your channel and your skills I do not agree about the early scrap of 21 " CRF 1100. It's a motorcycle which can lean over 45° degrees and it's not a super sport motorcycle. Maybe the model with 21" you rode needed more stiff adjustments to the suspension. As it is adjusted by Honda is very soft . So this is the reason why You scraped so early the 21" . (INMHO)

do you think the Africa Twin Adventure sports is better than my suzuki V Strom 1000xt 2018? Considering power in low revs and overall experience for long road trips with a passenger?
Test rode my dads '24 Africa Twin DCT a few days ago, kept it in D mode for about 30mins. Crazy how it wants to keep 6th gear all the way down to 50km/h, and when then accelerating again, unless you really wring the throttle out, it still kept 6th gear, making the whole bike rattle and vibrate like the worlds most expensive dildo. Amazing comfort and good handling, but I didn't make friends with the DCT, ended up manually shifting it down before each turn, just to have more push going out
I remember hearing "cut" sounds when upshifting on other vids. I guess those are manual models with quickshifter. Automatic models doesn't have that mean upshift sound.

I'm afraid of the electronic suspension, i'm casual rider 80% of the time on roads, but in next few years i want to move to some dirt and more of the non civilization riding where is electronic suspension, and all the electronics bit of problem making thing. (if something broke, electronic is unrepairable on road, it needs computer. And if you want some better springs, suspension in general it isn't as easy change as mechanical one). But on other hand i was on test ride of 21" ATAS, and now waiting for 19" ATAS. In my point of view 21" ATAS is good in seat possition (handlebars little bit too far for me - nothing what risers can't help with), but cornering is bit rough - in comparison with Norden or V Strom you need to push them. So the question is... ATAS 21" or ATAS 19" or Norden? - i like the design of both, but KTM ohh... Husky is for me less reliable than japan engineering. You can change the springs to the models with electronic suspensions. Hyperpro produces 3 options of spring : +25mm or - 25mm or the same mm but with stiffer progressive springs.

Personally, I wouldn’t bother taking a 500+ bike “off road”, simple gravel lanes sure. When I took a T7 on gravel lanes the only thing I thought was “this would be more enjoyable if I was on a 2 stroke or thumper”. And the t7 is a lighter bike than the AT. The 19” makes way more sense to me now. I look forward to a test ride to see if my wife and i will add it to the list or not.
Not a regulation I think, but when doing hard braking in traffic (think traffic suddenly coming to a stop on a freeway or something), it's considered sensible to flash the emergency lights to indicate to the ones behind you that traffic has slowed in a way that could be dangerous if people are not paying close attention. It seems that Honda has built it into the Africa Twin as a automatic thing now. My brother has just bought a Honda CB500X, and it also flashes the brake light when doing hard braking to alert the drivers behind that its a very hard braking taking place and they should be careful.
@@Sunesen I know about automatic flashing and at 0:34 for example you can see the flashing but after the hard braking it looks like the indicators don't turn off but are constantly lit up. Also at the end at 11:23 you can see the indicators are just lit, not flashing, this is what I'm confused by.
@@kissgergo5202 They are so called positioning lights. Honda kind of started with this to have more lights in the front of the bike, so car drivers etc. can see it easier. They are using it for years now though, even on smaller entry level bikes I see these all the time. Other manufacturer have started to do this as well, for example later versions of the 1250GS have them as well.
I have tested all. The Forza 750 is a true motorcycle with a true gearbox and the better handling. Also the less service costs the more torque , the more fast and the one with better wind protection. Is the most fuel efficient. Is the best amongst the rest. 2 drawbacks. No cruise control , no electric windscreen
Twice the price? Where did you find an ATAS for that price? The ATAS with DCT starts at 20.000€. I think you are still living in 2016, when the AT was a good deal. Those days are over.
Its a nice bike for sure, but sadly the dct is taking that awesome down shift sounds away.. for me personally the manual is unlocking the full potential of this bike

I can't help you here. Because all three would be a great choice that you won't regret
You can change the springs to the models with electronic suspensions. Hyperpro produces 3 options of spring : +25mm or - 25mm or the same mm but with stiffer progressive springs.
nice roads man
Thanks
What is the reason both turn signal light turned on couple of times? Is it indicating something or simply a button pressed by mistake??
Happens automatically when braking hard
They say that the bike feels top heavy. Is that true? Greets
It is but you'll only feel this at walking speeds
Good sound, but original exhaust?
Yes
Personally, I wouldn’t bother taking a 500+ bike “off road”, simple gravel lanes sure. When I took a T7 on gravel lanes the only thing I thought was “this would be more enjoyable if I was on a 2 stroke or thumper”. And the t7 is a lighter bike than the AT. The 19” makes way more sense to me now. I look forward to a test ride to see if my wife and i will add it to the list or not.
Have fun!
super
Very cool !
Thanks
NT 1100 vs Africa?
Why are the indicators constantly on? Did I miss some new regulation or something?
@@Wollestar Interesting, never seen a bike with this on the road myself but seems like a good idea. Thanks for the explaination!
@@kissgergo5202 no problem
amazing
Thanks
I would love to ride this bike. But it has way to low ground clearance for sporty riding.
That's where GS, SAS and Multistrada are shining.
That's true
Hallo!
NT
if you break hard then hazard lights start blinking automatically?
Yes
@@Schaaf sorry another question, how about wind buffeting or wind protection? because it was not good on the previous version. danke.
Just came back from spain ... german roads (around were i live) are meanwhile in a very sad state compared t spanish roads :(
Spain is riders paradise for real
What's the top speed brother in km/h
299
Sounds like the aftermath of burrito night. A little like a multistrada with low compression.
Hahaha
Cant actually hear the Multistrada that much.
Since it's usually broken ;)
Try RE gt 650 WITH RED ROOSTER EXHAUST
lol
Schaaf, please consider doing videos for bikes like Tmax, AK 550, Maxsym 508 or Forza 750. :(
I can't choose the bikes I get to ride
@@Schaaf Welp...
@@MotoRiderGreece I don't mind windscreen at all but cruise control is a big drawback.
@@dIsAstErTR yes I agree. But no one motorcycle is perfect . Also the process is very very competitive for a 750 scooter
Great!
Thanks once more
NT110 or AT on road?
NT
6:21
Yes. Montserrat.
Very beautiful
For 50/50 on and off road, I’m torn between the Africa twin and the 800de.
You always scratch the bike in curves! 😂🤣
not true
Ride on manual mode or at least "sport III" not in "sport I" if you want to show how fast this thing.
I didn't want to and I'm even explaining I was in the wrong mode
This bike is very awesome, but i think the sounds like a Lawn mower😂
Great lawnmowers you must have in your country
this kind of power is way enough, no need that 1300gs power with twice the price, the manual looks more fun tho
Twice the price? Where did you find an ATAS for that price? The ATAS with DCT starts at 20.000€. I think you are still living in 2016, when the AT was a good deal. Those days are over.
Yep
They are pretty much the same price!
I drove one, but i find it a bit dull comparted to Desert x
Nice!
That there are no downshifts confuses me 😂
Its a nice bike for sure, but sadly the dct is taking that awesome down shift sounds away.. for me personally the manual is unlocking the full potential of this bike
I was surprised to hear it was gone. As far as I remember The previous DCT models all had the most amazing downshit blips!!
21inch can also do this or you notice a big difference?
That’s what he said.
Damn that sounds like a car because of the DCT
Thanks
