    Thank you for offering this walkthrough and for also mentioning all of the other amazing work by Ana Tourian. The thing I don't appreciate is that the only place that Ana Tourian is mentioned on the MPC listing for the Bones of the Bonestone deck is hidden in the _Packaging: Custom labeled tin box_ link. If an individual clicks that link and then clicks "back", to view the back of the tin, then they will see the artists name mentioned in the bottom right hand corner of the tin. I just feel one should give credit where credits due and, in terms of marketing and selling a product, that should be right up front where a consumer can see it straight away. Just my opinion, of course. I have no personal qualms with this as I feel people are free to choose who they want to support with their money. I did appreciate hearing your thoughts about the deck. Thanks, Simon. 🌟

      I had heard comments about the lack of promotion. But I was pleased to see Ana’s name alongside Avalon’s on the back. To me it seems like they had equal prominence, having their name side-by-side.

      I actually thought this was Ana Tourain doing a spin off of her Tarotv of the Abyss when I saw it, so the new Boneatone is a no.

    I decided against purchasing the Bones of the Bonestone for the price also.. I have the original Bonestone and Earthflesh Tarot, which I had pre ordered 3 years before which meant I only paid £49.95 for the deck.. and a further £20 for postage.. I just couldn't justify to myself paying over double for this deck.. even though I do like the sepia tone it still didn't match the quality of the original coloured deck. It's a very nice deck though.
    I must take my original Bonestone and Earthflesh out of its box and use it.. I did want to keep it in its box but it really should be used. And I love Tarot of the Abyss.. It's just as beautiful as the Bones of the Bonestone if not more. Thanks for the walkthrough Simon. Many Blessings 🌙🙏

    Wow the artwork is just so beautiful! The colour version just blows me away. Thanks for the walkthrough Simon, as a fairly new Tarot deck enthusiast I had never come across these decks but you’ve opened me up to this fantastic artist. Plenty of diversity!😉😘. Price of the sketched deck seems excessive….Would love it if they reprinted the colour deck…I would buy one in the blink of an eye! Enjoy your Holiday time!😅👍🇦🇺😎Max

    I got this one as soon as Avalon announced it. I have the original, and I love it, but you can't shuffle without disturbing the gilding. I was thrilled, because I wanted this version from the beginning. A key piece of information you are missing, is that the proceeds from the sale of this deck are also to help fund a second printing of the colored version. That's "why" so expensive. So many people have asked her to print the color one again, but it's really expensive to do that. We don't all have the wherewithal to self-fund. I love the new deck, I think it's like scrying. The linework reaches out card to card, and gives you connections you just don't see in the colored version. I love that I can riffle shuffle it without worrying about gilding, the cards feel wonderful...I've paid more for decks I use less...and that's just the way it goes. I don't think she wanted to make a big deal about the fund-raising part...because if it doesn't work out, she doesn't want to get all the backlash she got before. Avalon has taken a lot of abuse, and I understand. None of that really matters to me. Witches get that kind of treatment all the time, we are used to getting thrown into the fire. I just enjoy the deck. The Bruja card, is only ever going to be in the first edition. It's one of those special touches you got with supporting the original vision. If you want it buy it, maybe you helped get the second edition printed...if you don't want it, well that's easy.

    As usual Simon, you handled this controversial situation with grace and much respect for everyone involved. You always find the right words and I admire you for this. I have ordered the deck a few days ago even though I was quite chocked by its price. Having missed in the Bonestone Tarot I thought it would be a good substitute, but how could it when it is a different deck altogether. Such different energy but I am still looking forward to it's addition to my collection. One thought that has been growing since I order the barebone: Why not publishing the Bonestone instead of the Barebone? Is releasing the Barebone a test to release later the colorful Bonestone for double the price of the sepia one? I am all for an artist to get the maximum return for their creation but without a book to accompany the deck where is Cameron fitting in compare to Ana Tourian. As you point out so rightfully it is between those two ladies to decide and I would like to believe it is all equitable in the end. It will be interesting to see what will happen and how well received this new facet of the Bonestone will be by the public. To be continued!
    Thank you so much Simon.
    Have the most enchanting holidays

    Thanks for the side-by-side comparison. I love all of Ana's decks and the Bonestone is definitely a favorite. I was excited for the sketch deck but the price really put me off. Some sketched cards are really detailed and expressive like the Tarot of the Abyss but the majority are really enhanced by the painting. I think I can live without it but I know its available if I change my mind. BTW the Bruja card is exclusive to the first edition.

    I love sepia and black/white decks. I was considering the Bones of Bonestone Edition but there seems to be a lot of detail missing that can be seen in the colored version. I would have purchased it had it contained the same details even at the high price. The insanity around the original Bonestone deck was such a turnoff. However, time has passed and if a 2nd edition is ever printed at a reasonable price, I will buy it. Thanks for your side-by-side comparison.

    SIMON HI I just Purchased this Deck from MPC it is kinda pricey compared to other decks I've bought from them. But I Love Ana Tourian as a Artist, I'm so in Love with the Tarot of the Abyss deck. I've never bought the Bonestone and Flesh tarot it's a beautiful deck, but I knowing me as a person I don't think I could have waited 3 years plus for a deck to finally be delivered, and because she made so few copies its became so expensive people who have it are afraid to use this Deck. So to me this is next best thing, I have Ana Art work and it is now a wonderful usable Deck Thank you Hugs Caroline 😘❤

Some of the beautiful red gilding has chipped but that is just part of the life of a well loved deck. I think the Bones of the Bonestone is lovely but I am not tempted. I deleted my last comment because it sounded negative. As a collector... I get it. If you really love an artist and deck we can go places that might not make sense to others. How much???

  • @dragonflyheart7876
    @dragonflyheart7876 2 года назад

    A$162 not including postage, without a book, and in a noisy/cheap tin, is way overpriced for the average person. Possibly the creator is in need of cash, but this smacks of being far too greedy imo.
    MPC is really great for private projects, and for large scale projects, without a doubt. But, when buying a single deck from the site like this, decks can be/ARE more expensive because that's how small creators choose to price them, and then you have the crazy postage. This one though is through the roof ... exhorbitant. For some perspective, a 100 card deck printing (US Game card size, superior smooth cardstock) is under A$40.
    There are so, so many great decks available at the moment for much less, and some soon to be released, that I'm not sure why anyone would throw their money away like this, unless they are a diehard collector.
    I also think the original deck is much, much nicer. Maybe a 2nd edition release of that one would have been better.
