I’ve discovered that when I say something ridiculous but with a completely sincere expression and speaking tone, everyone cracks up. This worked every time in the office. Co-workers two aisles away would laugh (shows that everyone listens to everyone in an office, just FYI.)

Yeah, there’s a way to do it. Some people do it too much and it’s awkward.

Basically, being funny is about being likeable. Being likeable is about being honest, humble (but not scraping), generous, curious and fun. It's about seeing the absurdity of life in new and surprising ways but still having a fundamental hope underneath it all.
This is really great. Im an introvert and i unconciously doing this tricks just to stay out of trouble. Just laugh whenever someones joking, go with the flow add something witty when u think of something and enjoy the rest of the conversation. When the topic runs out transition to another. If conversations taking too long says youll go to the bathroom and leave. Create excuses for later hahaha
In my opinion forcing techniques is difficult, but there is one that is plain simple and natural which is
being able to find humour in yourself. It is S Tier in making people laugh, and it doesn't feel forced!

Its almost like self degrading humour, laughing honestly about your insecurities... but you must learn to love yourself 🙏

I have one that I've used frequently for at least a decade. Almost always gets a chuckle. This was a recent example:
Them: "Who was that actress ... she was an elf in Lord of the Rings?"
You: "Cate Blanchett?"
Them: "That's the one!"
You (deadpan): "Never heard of her."
my favourite version of this is as follows:
"Who's that character from that cartoon?"
"the one with the straw hat, scar under the eye, made of rubber?"
"Ye, him!"
"no idea who you're talking about"

Although I agree with these pointers for how to joke and how they land, the thing I think I am not hearing is "how do you do this in real time" cause honestly if you think about this too much or try to plan for these situations you will likely fail. The key is what your motivation is. If you go into a conversation with the intent of making people like you it will likely fail. Instead, go into every conversation with the intent on cracking a joke. Don't worry about if people like you just looking to crack a joke. If it doesn't land, then don't worry about it and try again (within reason of course). My 2 bits.
Also, playing off of somebody else's joke isn't stealing... it is riffing. And it is mutually beneficial.
What about someone getting tired of never getting a straight answer from you, and who eventually realises you think your charisma is more important than their need to be taken seriously?
Practice makes perfect too, and you're totally right about making the focus the joke. I used to be a tourguide, and I also worked the ticket booth before the tours. I decided both as an ice breaker, and because I wanted to get better at wordplay, I would make puns of people's names. This might sound annoying, but people absolutely loved it, and i started a lot of conversation this way or got people laughing before we started my tour. It started out pretty difficult to come up with the puns, but after a week or two, someone would hand me their credit card and it would take me 2 seconds to think of something, and it also made other puns easier because suddenly my brain was on the lookout for that kind of wordplay. I feel like these actors get a lot of practice time in interviews, so their real-time whit gets a lot of exercise. Absurd humor like Ryan uses about calling his parents cannibals is the same way, it gets easier to think of jokes that his that right balance of absurdity and good humor when you do it often.
You answered your question on how to do it in real time, with your last sentence. You just gotta practice: the more you put your self out there and practice these techniques, the more effortless it will become until being charismatic is just who you are. Kinda like riding a bike, at first you have to think about every move and you will fail, bit you learn from failure and eventually you won't even have to think about it anymore, it just comes naturally.
I work in sales and make cold calls and your approach here absolutely works. I always try to break the ice with cracking a joke... it works 98/100 times and the other 2 times it's a little awkward but nothing too bad.
These are like the things people know, but also don't know. Like gravity or oxygen. Nearly everyone is experiencing then at all times, but very few people actually look deeper into it, point it out, and explain it.
This actually happened. I just finished completing a job for a body shop and needed a RO number for my invoice. I asked the service writer for it. He went to look it up and said, “I can’t even remember the guys name”. I said jokingly “ Lipshiitz?” And he responded without hesitation “no, but my butt whistles”. I laughed about that for days.
This was a "Zero phone-checks" video. So good!!
I understood and have done and knew all of these things and it boosts my confidence to see that I've been on the right track all along :D
I find that I tell the absolute best knee slappers of a joke when I’m comfortable and don’t put pressure on myself. When you aren’t constantly looking for an opportunity, the opportunity will come to you
No matter how many of these videos I watch I'll never be as cool as Tim Olyphant on Conan in a Tshirt, shorts and flip-flops.

You have to have watched looney tunes.
1) go to your local acme store and buy an anvil. Did you see a cat?
2) find your a nearby high cliff and carry the anvil to the edge
3) throw the anvil over the cliff edge
4) aren't you glad I skipped over step 2.5 to tie the anvil to your ankle?
5) since you are still alive, return the anvil to acme. Realize you did see a cat. You did! You did!

The first technique is my go to every time and it works like a charm every single time. I just think "what would be the worst answer possible?" and go with that.

2:33 another good thing about this technique is that you can make mistakes with your jokes and people will still laugh because they already see you as a funny person due to doubling down on the joke. Conan clearly forgot his punchline but it still worked because of that technique.

It’s funny to recognize how we already do some of these things, without consciously thinking. It occurs to me that I say “what could go wrong?” dismissively like the proposed plan/idea (maybe my own) is just…fine, and NOT filled with obvious risks or blowback
I realized that I do all of those mentioned. But that's only when I'm in a good mood which is very rare since I'm depressed
Yeah, I'm the same. If I'm in a devil may care mood, I think I am consistently funniest person I know in real life, but I HAVE to be feeling it and in the mood, which I am mostly not... Especially lately.

When I crack a joke and people start laughing, I usually say, "Oh, you think I'm joking?" And continue a little bit, and it has always got people cracking up even more. Just be sure for the joke to be so absured there's no chance you'd be possibly being serious.

I guess my Brother and I "Trained each other" because we both do this constantly, whether it is conversation between us, or Us with others, or when we are 'on our own'... Complete mis-direction, or sometimes 'self-defecating', or twisting something up, or playing on the LITERAL meaning, or alternate meaning, rather than the INTENDED meaning. Even in the driest, most 'business type' situations, I was in "Sales" or Retail management, most of my career... and I did this with Customers to reduce the stress and feelings that I was trying to convince them to do something they were uncomfortable about.

The best humor is dark. Some of us are fortunate enough to be born with it.
Double down on someone else’s joke can easily go south, unless you’re really funny. Too many times, I say something that gets a laugh, and an unfunny person tries to add to the joke and it bombs, or they wear the joke out really fast. I only have two friends that will crack me up doubling down on my joke, but these guys are the kind that will have you in tears. most people can’t seem to pull it off.

It is also possible that the key to being witty is to know what the question is ahead of time and have a team of writers on hand to work up a response. This is the talk show formula.

Tbh as a person that has developed my own unique sense of humor that has influenced much of the world the thought of this video being found in my internet history im worried the validity of authenticity towards my sense of human being crafted independantly mostly the lack of recognition for my brilliance frightens me if people were to assume watching this was at any means a part of enhancing my abilities rather than sight seeing into how my life and some of what ive done would be like in hearing a scientific+like retort of something gifted to me by god a long time ago before laughter existed. Not exactly the same but I've got a great way to start a job interview : try to find something interesting on the way to the interview, if you don't see anything, use something from a recent time and pretend you just saw it (you can admit it later if you want). When you come in, especially if you're late (which you shouldn't be) start talking about this interesting thing at the first chance you get. Chances are the interviewer will at least want to hear you out for a few moments and at best let you talk for a couple of minutes. Now, you're much less nervous about talking, you feel some control, you seem a little interesting, you make THEM have to reconfigure and maybe they like you a little.

You could say "I was just watching this video on the bus about 7 things to make people obsessed with you and one guy said it's a good idea to go to a job interview and talk about something interesting I saw. So I'm talking about that comment. Do you think that's a good idea?"
i remember this one time where i was the fairest among the class and the girls would all come up to me to ask me what cream i apply on my skin to look white, and i'll tell you that they are all dead serious about it, so one time in a free period during class, one of the girls asked me 'what's the cream ur applying to look so fair and that smooth skin?' and tbh in reality i don't even have smooth skin, but then all the girls turned their attention to me, so now i have nowhere to escape, so i gave it a thought, i prolly looked dead serious to them cuz i was furrowing my eyebrows. I said 'Hmm, that's a tough question, i don't really remember which i used the most, but i'd say water did the job, just try cold water, it made me go pale everytime i use it during the morning before leaving my house.' - they completely broke into laughters. Ah i love those days, btw this title attracted my attention and it's good lol. keep going with ur awesome videos!

Intonation, timing, eye expression etc. and to be in the right frame of mind are all fundamental to making others laugh. It's often something that can't be taught - some people just aren't funny. At all. My son as a 9yo used to love this one... "Why can't mum tell jokes timing". (No pause between "jokes" and "timing". Not expected from a 9yo and pretty funny. Good to give being funny a go though - the world needs more laughter!
When I say “Hi, how are you doing today?”, they usually respond with “Good, how about you?” Their response is very polite, however; it may or may not be truthful. I have two different replies that always get a smile and sometimes a genuine chuckle or more. I either say “Well, I have to admit there’s always room for improvement” or “Oh, probably about medium”. I like being able to bring a bit of joy to others in the smallest ways.
I was interview for a doctor the interview was great I had warmth humour and got the job of my dreams the reason i didn't take it even though the medical center was what I always wanted because I was just their for a prostrate exam and never had any medical training.but i should of looked at the sign on the door closer. It said " All openings will be looked into" I took it the wrong way what a bummer..
