BETA ALANINE EXPLAINED - What is Beta Alanine?

  • Beta Alanine is a powerful endurance promoting supplement. Your body has three primary energy systems: ATP-CP, Anaerobic, and Aerobic.
Imagine if there was a way to take that middle system, the anaerobic system, and give it a boost. Lactic acid build up is one of the factors that hinders glycolysis. But what if we could make blood more basic, to cancel out some of that lactic acid build up, that is essentially what beta alanine does.
When beta-alanine is ingested, it turns into the molecule carnosine, which acts as an acid buffer in the body. Carnosine is stored in your muscles and released in response to drops in pH. Increased stores of carnosine offer protection from exercise-induced lactic acid production.
This allows your body to use a that better intermediate energy source for longer, and ultimately giving you greater output.
Remember how I talked about horse races before, well it turns out the highest natural carnosine levels are found in the muscles of horses and racing dogs.
This explains why many people who take beta alanine and thus raise their carnosine levels report being able to perform one or two additional reps in the gym when training in sets of 8-15 repetitions.
Beta-alanine also improves moderate- to high-intensity cardiovascular exercise performance, like rowing or sprinting.
    In football players
In football players 4 g/day improved performance (shuttle run, flexed-arm hang) and body composition.
There is one heavily referenced meta analysis in which athletes saw a 2.85% boost when training between 60s and 240s, and the benefit continued even after 240s to a lesser degree all thanks to beta alanine.

Whey is kinda bad. Most whey products give you 22-26g of protein per shake. Most men need about 200g of protein a day. It just not cost effective. A decent chicken brest half a kg cost $2 and contains 160grams of protein.

Metabolic acidification is not caused by the formation of lactate but the oxidation of ATP.
pyruvate + NADH > lactate + NAD+ :The H+ ion here is bond to lactate and do not lower pH.
ATP > ADP + Pi + H+ : The H+ ion here is free therefore causing acidification.

I still think that Beta Alanin is really unnecessary but if anyone reading this is gonna use it anyways then, DON'T try to get your beta alanin through pre workout. Try to think of it as creatine and get a separate product, you don't want to be taking 4 to 6 of your underdosed preworkout scoops to try to saturate the beta alanin storage in your body.

Without beta alanine I’m like elevator music in the gym, calm, quiet, smooth...on beta alanine I’m like heavy metal, jerking weights around, yanking weights with strong explosive output. It’s cause beta alanine boosts fast twitch fibers, the branch warren fibers.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic I have more time to cycle for longer periods of time, which is great. The issue is without my pre-workout I hit a wall and can’t get past 45-47 miles.
With pre-workout I average 60 miles and if I push myself to the absolute limit I get close to 72. My issue is I can’t stop itching afterwards. It feels like I push myself during every ride but even when I’m riding close to my personal best, I finish my ride and the itch returns. Is this normal or is pre-work not for cycling?

my advice is don’t take pre workout if you’re gonna run… preworkout makes your heart pump faster so if you add to that you running, it’s not good to your heart and blood system

Then I went home, went to bed for the night, and woke up feeling that shit everywhere like I’d been hit my a semi.

Increasing weight does not affect me because im just at the bottom of my weight division... But anything that can give me a bit more energy... Be it some suplement or a type of training, i might give it a try

    • @manofgod7622
      @manofgod7622 3 года назад

It can make you able to train explosively for longer.
When you run out of stored ATP, your body replenishes this ATP (after around 3-5 minutes). Over the training, lactic acid builds up in your blood, which slows down this replenishment, so it gives you 3 options
      - end the training
      - keep training and lower the weight
      - or keep training and increase your pauses by 10-15 minutes.
Since beta alanine helps to lower lactic acid, it will help you to work explosively for longer.
